Just got done playing for a bit, and I must say, tanks aren't as bad as I thought they would be. Helos with a good pilot still rape face though. I wonder if the load outs will ever get a tracking missile. I know the ones on the ground can track....
It was laggy as all hell, but fun.

people need to start posting screens and stories so I can live vicariously through them until I can play almost 24 hours from now
edit: let me clarify, when I said screens and stories I was referring to screens and stories of actual gameplay and not of your wild adventures downloading a file from the internet
Yeah, I'm getting into this. The atmosphere is fantastic, bits of wall flying past you, people yelling. I highly recommend the engineer class, the beta map is pretty tank heavy and you can get a bunch of kills at once for taking out armor because everyone uses them for cover.

I cannot do screens yet, but I can offer you a fantastic story.
First game I played, I realized there are barrels of gas or something that will explode when you shoot it.
There was a tank terrorizing the control point, and I had just been killed by it, so I load up with an RPG and set out to destroy it.
I turn a few corners and there I am face to face with the back of the tank... Then I see those barrels RIGHT next to it and starting thinking. Just as I am about to fire off at the barrels, 3 enemies on foot push up against the tank for cover.
BOOOM. It was glorious. I got 6 kills. 3 in the tank, and the 3 against the tank.
I got a medal for it too. *polishes his medal*

How is the sound?
And I really, really dig those AI voices from the players that you hear in the trailers. Great fucking idea, as far as immersion in multplayer is concerned.
I wish they'd made Arica Harbour the map for the PC beta, though.
ya i should have access to this via my steam preorder. wont be able to find out till tomorrow though. made other plans totally forgetting what day it was today. oh well, you guys can take care of all the day 1 crashes for me. hopefully i get patched to the "awesome people" build tomorrow.

The sound is actually pretty damn amazing... If its quiet enough, or you happen to catch a break in the ground fire, you can hear the *ting* of sniper bullets, and then the BOOM off in the distance where it came from.
There are A LOT of snipers, but thankfully they are pretty useless up close, and therefore cannot really capture the points. So when half the team is snipers, the other team wins.
Ive noticed a few funny bugs too. One team starts off the map jumping out of a plane and parachuting down... Well, in this case the chute never went away, so there were several guys coming after me when chutes straight up in the air... they got killed quickly.

On defense the offensive team rushed at the get go and torn down all of our cover. It took us well over 3 minutes to get rid of the first armored rush. Eventually they pushed us back. Everyone on D manned turrets and were able to withstand 2 rushes before they destroyed our cover again. Then I got in the gunner seat of the apache and we mowed those dirty dogs down. GLORY.

Oh man they have faster-than-sound bullets? I always wanted to have this in games

I like when I run out of ammo that I can just grab a buggy and kamikazi on a group. Hitting one with the vehicle then using the pistol sometimes I'll actually survive it. Often I don't, but I take someone with me.
Looks like the site is up and working again (and much faster too). Just grabbed a couple more keys for some friends on the east coast and it took literally 2 minutes.

The bullets in general seem quite realistic, it's great.
Edit: I've got FRAPS running now, so I hope to get some good screenshots soon.

I run the game on HIGH and its smooth. Gets a little laggy due to the map having snow flurries that DO block vision, and when there is a lot of explosions ( which is often! ).
I've only spent like 45minutes in the game, and Im already a PVT. No unlocks yet, but I was playing during my lunch break so... no complaints from me.
The server I was on was laggy at times, and hitching is a big issue. Not sure if that was just the server I was on, or the game.
Will be playing A LOT tonight.

I've heard that it sounds super pimp because it uses some cool new sound processing method using your CPU, not your sfx card.
has anyone played this on a macbook pro yet? that's what I have, and I'm curious just how far down i'll have to turn the settings. i could play MW2 just fine--does this seem more or less intensive than that?

Never played MW2 on my PC, but I would say MUCH more intense. You know those toll booth buildings that guards usually man? Well the beta map has a few of these, and they can be completely blown to crap with C4 or a Tank. Was one of the coolest things I've seen.

this seems to be lacking a lot of the hi-res textures and fancy lighting effects mw2 has, and mw2 went swimmingly on my laptop... anyone have any experience with both games?

Because MW2 maps are composed of corridors inside a 100m x 100m space, hella occlusion going on there.
Once I have a key, do I have to tie it to an EA account?

Yes.
As for the bullet drop - It is indeed true, you need to take into account the distance of your shot. The assault rifles seem to be good for up to 30m before it starts to get really bad. Plus recoil has a big part to play now too.
Also the lack of going prone HASNT been missed by me. You are on the move so much in the game, and all prone would do is make bunny hopping easier.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
Now let's see how good this game be!
Try clicking the keys & serials thingy. Maybe they already gave you a key and you didn't see it.
FUCKING LAUGHING
I FINALLY GOT A FUCKING KEY

Looking forward to playing this when I'm home. Sadly I also got Mass Effect 2 today so who knows when I will actually play this
So... why do you need 2 keys?
