Well be be fair I don't shoot the gun with the Engi much because I'm usually hiding behind tanks repairing them.

Never tried it. Suppose I'll give it a whirl.

Also on Engineers, is anyone else incredibly frustrated by the fact that after you fire an RPG, it doesn't automatically take you out of iron sights?

It's such a pain. I just want to fire my RPG and get the fuck out of the area before the tank decides to look my way.

I hope the engineer's automatic guns get tweaked before the game comes out. Right now they feel overly spastic to me; even shooting while crouched causes the sights to jitter around way more than they should. It's understandable for the assault's rifle to have tons of recoil, but a silenced submachine gun shouldn't be nearly so hard to corral.

Too true. I'd like to see more distance put on the gun's for Engineers as well. Feels futile to even shoot at anything that's over 20 feet away from you. Why can't Engineers have that luxury?

    What are you talking about?

I nail people from far off all the time with me SCAR Carbine.

I can kill enemies at a distance with the Assault and Medic Classes with general ease.

The moment I try to do so with the Engineer, it's like the bullets don't even exist.

I've managed fine even with the default gun.

Although admittedly these days I prefer to roll shotgun with my engy.

EDIT: And Assualt is supposed to have an easier time of aiming and firing compared to engineer and medic. I tried Assault a couple of times and it almost felt like easy mode to down people coming off of those two.

I had the best match of my life devolve into the worst match of my life last night, on the 360.

In the first section of the map, my team easily took out A but had a really, really hard time taking out B. I did some scouting and found out that pretty much the ENTIRE enemy team was snipers and were on top of the construction site overlooking B. They even had a medic or two up there reviving them. They were doing a really good job of pinning down my entire team.

So I broke out my recon kit and snuck up on the right flank, opposite the B pit, until I had an oblique view on the construction site. I found some good cover and got to work with my Type 88. I was picking them off so quickly that eventually they stopped sniping and started running around like crazy trying to avoid my bullets. I sniped until I ran out of ammo, by which point my team secured B and it was time to move up.

    ...

My team then proceeded to be the biggest bunch of pricks on the face of the planet. Dedicated sniper squads are bad enough, but what I witnessed was dedicated sniper squads combined with a BMP driver and tank drivers who were dueling for "pussy of the year" awards on the road leading to the next map section. They had actually got into a traffic jam on the road because they were too busy trying to shell from a distance and not move up. I broke out the Engineer kit to make a big show of repairing them as if to say, "It's okay! Grow a spine! I'll help you!" Somehow, that prompted them to retreat backwards after the enemy T-90 showed up and dented their pwecious armor.

I got fed up and joined another server as the defenders, only to spawn with a squad mate in the Blackhawk who wasn't actually using the Blackhawk to do anything other than circle the Apache helipad, waiting for it to spawn. Guess how long before we got shot down?

I was finished for the night after that.

Man. It's like the PC Beta has less going for it than the Console Demo's got.

As for Tank Drivers: Nothing makes me scratch my head like players who willingly drive a tank with less than 20 HP deep into the enemy territory. Why. Would. You. Do. That.

Guys with Nvidia cards, go check for updates right now. They've brought out a few drivers to deal with BC2 and it runs really well now. About a constant 45fps with all high, 1280 x 1024 and 4xaa.

That really is to be expected though. The beta code in itself was already old when it released, and several of the features weren't implemented.

Has there been any word about a general PC demo after the beta is finished? I know PC betas are not a big priority these days, but I'm still on the fence about what version to buy. If I could see how the PC version runs on my system, it would make the decision a lot easier, but I haven't got a beta key.

Medic getting any anti-tank weapons would be kind of messed up. It's already an incredibly powerful kit. I mean, at that point, why bother having classes?

I honestly believe the medic kit should be nixed and the medic hub/defib should be rolled into the assault kit so that rifle nade spamming gets diminished and the ammo hub/lmg goes to a support class.

Last night I fired a grenade launcher at a guy and it practically landed one inch away from him. He somehow survived with 4% health left and killed me. It feels like BC1 all over again where the assault class sucked.

I for one am I glad the 40mm has been made a tool rather then another piece of kill hardware in this game.

Maybe its CODs bullshit with it or other games making it seems like such a special mega kill weapon.

And I guess that also factors in with the minimal splash damage with the rest of the game. It really keeps out explosive spammers and focus on bullets and firefights which is the most fun.

Its so cool hiding behind a wall trading shots at a guy with you buddy and he launches a 40mm and blows your cover but your still standing and really need to find some new cover.

This is true, and I agree and all, but dammit a grenade should kill someone if it lands within 5 feet of them.

    EDIT

Medic Kit seemed fine to me in what little time I got to play it. Never had much trouble taking them out and they're screwed if your team makes good use of tanks.

I've never been able to use the UAV. Someone always parachutes directly in front of it immediately and stays there most of the match. :(

AND THEN you have someone standing behind him, knifing or shooting at him, because they want to use it, too. Argh.

Tonight, I got in the gunner seat of the Apache, and the pilot crashed it almost immediately. The next time it spawned, I got in, and the pilot drove it right into the crane, sideways. I got in that fucking gunner seat four times, each time screaming at my retarded teammates NOT to fly the fucking chopper if they don't know how.
I got four replies, one from each retarded 'pilot', berating me that 'they won't learn' if they don't get to fly the chopper. PRACTICE IN A NEARLY EMPTY SERVER THEN, RETARDS, or at least when the attackers aren't totally swarming the harbour.
Anyway, I said fuck it, I'll try my luck at it, it was my first time piloting the goddamn chopper and I managed a five vehicle killstreak, and didn't crash. I figured out pretty quickly to play it safe and not hold W. Cruising around with the mouse, a and d was fine. I didn't even die when I got shot down, I parachuted into their base. Felt like a boss.

EDIT: Oh, and I frapsed something pretty amazing. I was in the T-90, gunner seat, trundling up toward the last point. There was another tank halfway up the hill and just as we turned the corner, the enemy blackhawk came crashing out of the sky, hit the ground in front of the other tank, bounced off it, spinning toward us with the entire thing still intact and the rotors spinning. It either clipped through us, or went just over our heads but it was like fucking movie scene. I'll add it to the montage I'm making.

The same button you jump with I'd assume.

Also: The Apache's secondary gunner seat is a bit overpowered...just press the mouse button with it in the general direction of a group of enemies and bam, double/triple or even quadruple kill.

Tips for using the UAV: You can ascend/descend faster than actually moving side to side or forward/backward. Use them in conjunction and it's pretty easy to stay out of enemy fire. And always make it a point to hide behind cover if it gets too hot.

Speaking of which, can Engineers repair the UAV's? I know they can't really land, but is it possible to float them a few feet above the ground to repair them midair?

Love it when you link up with random dudes. Me and another medic were defending the open pit objective on the first section for a good 15-20 minutes, moving around the small stone shack and boxes reviving each other, constantly taking out guys at each other's backs while most of the rest of the team dicked about as recon.

I think I got about 5600 points when a random sat in the MG seat on a tank, spotting and shooting while I hopped in and out of the driver seat and repaired like crazy/shot people in the face with the main gun. The great thing was the random didn't switch seats and drive off while I was repairing, he just protected me with the MG.

Man, the people who play the Battlefield games are the worst part of them.

I managed to steal the other teams Apache and get away having taken around 60% damage, so I land it to pop out and repair. As I pop out to repair, a squadmate spawns on me and steals the Apache. "Well, okay, I'm a pretty mediocre pilot and he's probably better at it than me" I thought. Twenty seconds later, the Apache is taking a swim in the Bering Sea.

Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.
