Saddly, I'm really tired of the single type of girl. Perhaps a shorter, slightly chubby girl wouldn't hurt, or maybe a man with a shaved head, or maybe an older man or woman in your party, as in 25+.
Fixed that for jRPGs.
And no, I'm really not stalking you from thread to thread changing numbers in your posts. It just looks that way. (See the Mirror's Edge thread)

Dragon Age has the GILF action you're looking for.:winky:
Alright, I'm convinced: Vanille is the hottest of the group.
Yes. Yes she is.
And a couple of new tidbits:
1. It'll take over 130 hours to fully complete the game.
2. There are many monsters that are impossible to defeat even with max equipment.
3. There are monsters bigger than the Adamantoise (!)
4. Vanille's summon was inspired by FFVI's Magitek armor.
Yeah, I'm getting a real Terra vibe from that picture. Only slinkier. And with red hair.
This is not a bad thing, mind you.
What does this mean
Direct quote:
At the end of the game there are enemies almost impossible to defeat without the best equipment. The traveling between named areas that is said to be difficult is well explained within the game itself. There are enemies larger than Adamantaimai. "By the time I defeated them, I was at playtime of over 140 hours." Once you have reached XX, you become much more able to move around freely. Monsters sometimes have different 'parts' to destroy.
I guess it has something to do with the side-missions.
And if you look here you'll see some new screenshots, including more Vanille hotness and why I want Cid to be a party member (that last pic made him look more snarky than he appears in these shots. At the moment I'm getting a Setzer vibe from him).

Does this mean there's a giant enemy crab, and we have to attack its weak point for massive damage?
I apologize for saying that.
Actually, I don't. :P

Because we all know that Crash Team Racing is still better than every damn Mario Cart ever made.
I'm really not liking how Finaly Fantasy is losing it's vibrance. It seems like it's pallette is switching to this generations shtick, as opposed to the bright, vibrant colors of the past. Part of what I loved about 10 was how lush and bold everything was. 12 seemed to tone down everything.

10's graphic design was kind of an aberration, as was its gameplay. Both were great, but they were unusual.
FFXIII: Hotest female cast (as a whole) yet? Though I need to see the other females (if there are any) from Versus as Stella is fucking gorgeous and makes that game in the running so far.
As for WKC, sexy cover art. The official release date is February 2nd. That puts localization time at thirteen-fourteen months? What else have they improved with it besides adding voice chat?

Not trying to be a party pooper, just saying that the meme's been run into the ground. I used to love it but now I don't even get a smirk out of it. :?
I also don't know what you mean by lack of color, as FFXIII is looking real colorful for a next-gen RPG.
You should hope that what they mean for 140 hours is what you can get if you really milk it.
The main plot should not be more than 60 hours. It will drag and drag otherwise. And even that is pushing it. You want to stick a bunch of extra shit on the back end? Go ahead, but it's better done as a new game+ or after the credits deal. Personally I get kind of annoyed that I'm fighting the toughest monsters 3/4 of the way through a game so that I can get the best equipment to fight a last boss that wouldn't even have been tough if I'd underlevelled.
I completed FFXII in 64 hours, according to my endgame save file. Apparently I spent 30 more doing hunts and fucking around in Ridorana. 100 hours is about how long it takes me to get tired of a game I really like, given continuously available content. I never beat a lot of the really tough hunts, I just felt like I was getting more stick than carrot at the 100 hour mark.
Something I'm realizing. Not counting Cid (we don't know if he's a party member, but fuck do I want him to be one now too)... 2-1 female lead on melee characters (knifegun, spear, & MANLY FISTS). 2-1 male lead on backrow ranged characters (handguns, boomerang, & bow).
Interesting, usually square prefers women in the back. Even games where you choose classes/change classes the female characters tend to have higher magic-like stats.

Final Fantasy XIII: Supporting Women's Rights in JPRGs.
Say no to White Mages and Summoners. Monks and Warriors are where it's at.
She is hot there. But shit, can that summon look any more ridiculous? How many barrels do you need?
If the game was made to intentionally be the Brutal Legend of the Final Fantasy series, I could probably embrace the sheer bat shit insanity of everything I've seen. But, from the looks of it, despite the "Heavy Metal!" aesthetic, it's still trying to be deep and meaningful. The juxtaposition of the two is just baffling. I mean, there's a guy with a goddamn Chocobo living in his afro, but the trailer made it look more earnest than the worst episode of Dawson's Creek.
It's like they're overcompensating for XII's more restrained, stoic (stuffy?) approach, and decided to amp everything up to 11. I'm interested in seeing how it plays out. The reports from people who've completed the Japanese version will be fun to read.

In Final Fantasy XIII, you will be able to ride a motorcycle into battle while creating ice ramps to drive off of.
You will also be able to take a racecar into battle to run over enemies and setting them on fire with exhaust engines.
You will also ride a horse into battle that transforms into a massive knight who assists you.
You'll also ride on top of a massive, machine-gun toting monster, and also command several smaller knights that form together into a massive, towering knight that obliterates all enemies.
I'm trying to figure out why people don't think any of the above sounds awesome. :?
I bet the actual game is closer to 50, just like IX, X, X-2, and XII. Only crazies will ever get over 100.
IX, X and X-2 weren't even close to 50 via normal gameplay. You'd have to work hard to make the game take that long. I think most of those were closer to 30-35 hours, and that's with most of the sidequests completed.
Meh, I added in some non clock time for dying once or twice without saving, doing a few of the easier to find minigames secrets, and leaving it on for awhile.
Persona 3: FES got around 120 hours out of me between the main game and the epilogue.
Front Mission 3.... I did so many New Game+ replays on both scenarios that I lost count.
Star Ocean III destroyed my soul. Awesome postgame, Universe (Hard)/ 4D (Very Hard) modes, and 300 Battle Trophies to collect (tri-Ace invented Achievements) that unlocked cool shit: costumes, difficulties, music player, and a whole different combat mode tweak.
You can get a lot of play out of the Tales games. They're built around a new game+ with extra difficulties and bonus dungeons. Plus, the harder difficulties aren't just more damage and hp on the enemies; they often get new attacks and patterns as well.
Star Ocean follows a similar formula, but the last two have been terrible and you'd have to be a masochist to want to put the extra time in.

Crash Team Racing is so damn good
Actually, going by the whole "almost impossible to defeat" part, maybe I should've said it was some kind of cave demon...
...and now I'm thinking of Snake in a Final Fantasy game. Gee, thanks a lot, brain, for teasing me with something that'll never happen. Again.

Every developer that has ever lived has touted the length of their RPGs, and it's always been 100 hours. That's Japan's magic number.
Nintendo even bragged that OoT would take 100 hours. Naturally I don't believe in FFXIII's claim, but here's hoping.

Also, one day I want LE's character designer working on an RPG. It would be phenomenal.

140 hours doesn't seem that crazy if it has the same kind of quests and hunts and whatnot that FFXII did.

Then it is 100 - 200 hours.
Final Fantasies V, VI, and X-2, Star Ocean the Second Story, the World Ends With You, and Persona 3/4 have collectively destroyed me as a human being.
FFVII was a close 2nd.
FFX is short if you avoid the side-missions, FFIX only slightly longer.
They've got nothing on Xenogears, though. 75 hours on the main story ALONE.
