Mouse/Keyboard/Network/Sound Drivers stopped working

So I was messing around trying to get my PS3 controller to work on my PC and there's a program you install to run it, and long story short it ended up not working but I decide that since I know Windows sometimes doesn't like you to try and reinstall a piece of hardware more than once per restart, that I'll restart my computer. When I restarted it, my mouse, keyboard, sound and network drivers decided they will not work at all (I assume those are the only ones, I can't do anything to check display drivers). Is there a way I can fix this through this XP installation I have? Obviously it's not my ports or a problem with the BIOS or hardware or anything since it works through the POST and in this XP Pro x64 install.

also i will note that they don't work in safe mode for the Win7 installation either. if the drivers themselves are ok, what could the problem be? as soon as the windows logo comes up and it starts loading, it all shuts off.

You probably need to get yourself some analog equipment so you can reinstall the drivers, or set back to an earlier time. I do some home-repairs sometimes and I always make sure that I have an analog keyboard and mouse, because sometimes the USB stuff just goes wonky.

its most likely a driver conflict.

your easiest solution is to just do a system restore using the win 7 disc and try again.

more difficult would be uninstall the driver you installed without using a keyboard or mouse.
