I like it. Which reminds me, shouldn't we be planning some secret santa game night? Counter Strike? Team Fortress? Quake? I don't care what we play, but this needs to happen.

I like this idea so much. I vote for TF2 or CS. Or some form of Unreal Tournament.

My vote goes for some form of Unreal Tournament or CS. Pretty much everyone has CS nowadays don't they?

CS:S is only $20 on Steam, and it'll likely go on sale as part of their Boxing Day sale. And most people should be able to run it.

I could totally go with old school CS too. Who doesn't have that? And if they don't it's probably like 5 bucks.

    Dear Santa,

At the risk of seeming rude, I'd just like to note that I am one of the very few PA'ers who does not like shooters at all. (First person, third person, doesn't matter.) Sorry about that. I don't look down on anybody for playing them or anything like that, it's just a quirk of personal taste.

Everyone else should feel free to shoot as many virtual mans as they want (or not, if they're weird like me). :)

Glad you liked it? Did you get the flash drive in the same envelope as the pin too?

It's too bad you can't put up pics though. Second year in a row my santee didn't show any!

Ah yes, I forgot to put the flash drive on there. Sorry about the no pics thing. I'd take some crappy cell phone pics but I just broke the screen on my phone the other day.

It's still a dual G5 powermac, and every time I get an itch for upgrading I sit down in front of it and do the same things I've been doing for years, with no slowdown or oddness. So I figure "well, might as well save the buckos."

So UPS drops off yet another package today and immediately the bet with myself begins: will it be a gift I ordered for my wife, my brother, my parents, or my santee? Wait, what's this? I don't recall ordering anything from this shipper. And how did they know I go by Ketar? Hey, wait a second :!!:

Well, better to be safe than sorry.
Inspectors Coco and Spunky begin according to protocol.
    Secret_Santa_001.JPG

Having watched too much Shark Week, Coco decides that circling it is the best route.
    Secret_Santa_002.JPG

    Secret_Santa_003.JPG

    Spunky catches on. Eventually.
    Secret_Santa_004.JPG

Grudging approval is given, and the opening begins.
    Secret_Santa_005.JPG
What's this? A choose your own Christmas adventure? Well clearly I must indeed read before opening anything, Santa. Clearly.

    Secret_Santa_006.JPG
Coco looks on, still wary despite the acceptable nature of the package's exterior.

    Secret_Santa_008.JPG
The Night Before Christmas ensues, with my first choice appearing on page 3. Being a man of infinite jest, the choice is clear.

    Secret_Santa_011.JPG
This may be the first time said infinite jest has brought me so many dicks  But let me open gift 5 indeed, anticipation begins to outweigh jest.

    Secret_Santa_016.JPG
Nutella? Hazelnut spread of the gods, closest man shall come to sweet ambrosia? Santa has obviously done his homework. Coco gives closer inspection until a glance at the description reveals the inclusion of cocoa. Apparently too close for comfort, she stalks off.

    Egads, I got a bit ahead of myself didn't I D:
    Secret_Santa_020.JPG
Individual gifts laid out, mostly unwrapped  Coco prepares to pounce on the offending jar.

    Secret_Santa_017.JPG
Somewhat confused, but mainly impressed by your stalking prowess Santa! Time to open gift 6.

    Secret_Santa_024.JPG
A much needed key chain, and perfect since I have somehow never bought a souvenir for myself in Paris, only for family back home. And...wait...is that a beret?

Alas, a picture of myself in the beret will have to wait until sometime this weekend. In the meantime, a quick reaction shot:
    Secret_Santa_021.JPG
"Oh god, look away Spunky. The human looks even more foolish than usual." "I'm not looking, I'm not looking!"

    Secret_Santa_025.JPG
Who is more confused? Santa? Santee? The cats? Gratuitous question mark :?:

    Secret_Santa_028.JPG
You have no idea, Santa. My love for crepes, particularly of the banana nutella variety, brought an electric crepe maker into my home 4 or 5 years ago. Alas, my lack of skill and the use of buckwheat flour (which I rarely have on hand when a crepe hankering strikes) in the recipe I rely on have made for only very occasional use. A recipe that uses only ingredients I am all but guaranteed to have on hand at any time is truly a wonderful thing. Further practice and increased skill is sure to follow!

    In which all is revealed...
    Secret_Santa_029.JPG
Ah-ha! I shall proceed to page 9, oh clever Santa.

    Secret_Santa_033.JPG
    Time and a half, Santa!

    Secret_Santa_034.JPG
Ooh, a Hugo Award winner I haven't read, with both of its sequels? Oh, and by the author of Flash Forward. This is most excellent Santa, and well-chosen given my taste in books, yet managing to avoid the brazillions I have read or backlogged. Most impressive. But...this is really ringing a bell for some reason...

    Secret_Santa_035.JPG
You "saw" that I wanted that first book? :!: HOLY CRAP SANTA FOUND MY AMAZON WISHLIST

No really, my name is James Williams. I've always believed that to be about as anonymous as you can get on teh intertubes, and was sure my wishlist was undiscoverable without a link, which I never provided.

Did I applaud your stalking abilities before Santa? Too soon, clearly. Truly, thou art a man of infinite stalking prowess. I am both happy and frightened at the same time

Also, you are correct, books are so not gay. Unlike savvy gamers

But I digress, on to gift 4!

    Secret_Santa_037.JPG
MST3K! I am ashamed to admit I have seen less than half a dozen episodes, though I always liked those I did see. Which episodes do we have here?

    Secret_Santa_038.JPG
zomg, "Manos" The Hands of Fate and Santa Claus Conquers the Martians! The latter is so perfectly seasonally appropriate that it is instantly the new finale to next Saturday's game day/bad movie night with my usual gang. And Manos? Everybody knows of Manos, and yet I have never seen more than a couple of Youtube clips. So perfect for an inveterate host of bad movie nights. I might have to watch this tonight with the wife! Er, plans tonight, make that tomorrow night!

    Secret_Santa_039.JPG

Alas, all good things must come to an end.
Page 12 can remain between me and Santa :winky: :winky:

    Secret_Santa_041.JPG
Packing materials are recognized as the treasures they are, and claimed by their rightful owners.

    Secret_Santa_046.JPG
A final inspection of the haul is provided as Spunky tries to figure out how Coco can be behind him, and in the jar.

Many thanks to Lost for the great gifts! Some skillful Santa stalking indeed, and I really enjoyed the choose your own adventure card. So awesome.

    <3<3<3
I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I'm also glad that I astounded you with my stalking prowess.

Now part one of the "super-haul ..."
    1Ewytl.jpg

I've got some Play-Doh to goof around with, a gamebridge that I can take with me on business trips now so that I can use my work laptop for things it should be used for, some sweet cookies I've never heard of that I will be making as soon as possible, and a new flash drive! Don't worry Santa, the mug is getting washed, hence it not being in the picture, but the candy looks great!

Remember though, that was only part one, this is part two of "super-haul ..."

I would like to call this, the mother load! I'm an English major so books are ++ and I can't tell you (Santa) how many times I walked past Pride, Prejudice, and Zombies and Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters and had internal civil wars over buying them. I had just never gotten around to it, but now holy shit they will be attacked within days! They are amazing.

Then to continue on, I absolutely loved Firefly and Serenity, so I can't wait to read that and I had World War Z on audio (and loved) so this should be pretty awesome as well! I haven't had too much exposure to Freddy, Jason, or Ash surprisingly, but it definitely looks like something I can get into!

So, all in all, the sum of it all looks like this
    w8nahl.jpg

So Santa, reveal yourself! I have your real name, but not your forum name, so that is completely unfair and you must now come forth and collect your good tidings from me and all!

Oh and I tried to get the required animal-in-box picture, but my dog wouldn't have it, so here she is looking at me very confused while I opened things up
    J3iI3l.jpg
I'm glad I was able to pick stuff that you enjoy, truthfully I was pretty worried that you would already have had P&P&Z and S&S&S. Merry Christmas.

Did you check on the flash drive? Their may or may not be a letter of christmas tidings and cheer on there...

PS: And those cookies are delicious.

Well you did a damn fine job and I didn't even think to look on the flash drive, I fail at easy things! Awesome letter and you hit the nail on the head! Thank you and Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays!

Post offices are closed on the weekends, and in the event that there is an in-store outlet open (like at Shoppers or what have you), the package wouldn't be sent out until Monday anyway. Go Monday morning.

A few days pass, I've seen him/her online, but never received or sent a message, I'm not entirely sure who it is but given the timing I'm almost positive it's my Santa.

No clues regarding their ID or on their account page have given me any insight as to who it actually is on the forum. Tonight, I made contact. Asked who it was, and was told I won't know until after Christmas. So my hunch is confirmed.

    Shipping today!
