So I've been looking to get Call of Duty MW 2 for 360. I found a "buy it now" auction on ebay for $46 shipped. Sounded too good to be true, and the seller was one of those "store" sellers, but had 0 feedback. There was multiple copies available, and some other people already bought copies. I thought "what the hell, if it turns out too good to be true and I don't get the item, I should get my money back".
So I payed through my paypal account (using my credit card through my paypal account).
Later the same day I signed on ebay and noticed that the auction that I won (and paid for) had been removed, and the user that sold it to me no longer existed. Figures. So I sent an email to the user and opened a dispute claim on the paypal website.
I haven't heard back from the seller yet, however paypal won't let me "escalate" the dispute until 7 days have passed (12/9). I feel the evidence is pretty obvious, is there any way I can speed up the process? And if not, come 12/9 and when paypal looks into it, will I just get my money repaid to my credit card? How will this work?
You can contact eBay if you want, but you should have little trouble getting your money back once 7 days pass. When a dispute is opened Paypal/eBay usually tries to contact each party to figure out what happened. But even sketchy sellers do sometimes come through, which is why there's the waiting period.
Should be able to get your money back either through your credit card company or through PayPal.
Just be careful about how you WORD things with PayPal, because they try to be neutral, and in trying to be neutral, they leave plenty of opportunities for abuse.
