I'm in the mood for some good revenge flicks, similar to Deathwish, or Man on Fire. You know the formula. A man is severely wronged in some way, and after lots of brooding, proceeds to exact violent retribution.
Any suggestions worth a rental? Bonus points if theres a scene where he goes to a gun dealer to buy a whole wackload of guns.
-edit-
Oh crap, I meant for this to go in help/advice. Any mods able to move it? Sorry for the mistake.
I'm not really looking for the type of "feel good" revenge movie where some wiseass guy gets even in awesome ways. I'm thinking more of a movie played straight faced where the protagonist dies at the end or something.
One recent movie that comes to mind was Death Sentence with Kevin Bacon. It wasn't a very good movie in general, but it had all the right cliches.
I had an opportunity to see Law Abiding Citizen a while ago, but opted not to go see it. Maybe thats just what I've been looking for. Any other suggestions though? I'm planning to go to Blockbuster tonight.

I think people tend to think of Robocop as a straight action movie, but it's really a revenge flick through and through, and a great one to boot.
The recent adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo with Guy Pearce was a surprising amount of fun. It's not ultraviolent or anything but it's immensely entertaining.
Something more directly in the line of Man on Fire would be Get Carter (the 1970s version with Michael Caine, not the bullshit Stallone one). It's nearly forty years old and some of the violence is still genuinely shocking.
Once Upon a Time in the West - It doesn't quite follow the strict revenge flick formula (the tragedy happens offscreen in the character's past) but most people count it as one anyway, and with good reason; the guy playing that character is Charles Bronson and it's arguably his best role.
Straw Dogs - it's infamous for how shocking and extreme some of its violence is, but don't go in expecting an action movie; the "action" is in like the last five minutes and the whole movie is about getting to that point. But when it happens...hoo boy.
Oldboy was the best incest revenge movie I've ever seen!
my bad
Now that I think about it, I've never actually seen Robocop in its entirety. Just little bits here and there when I would catch it on TV.
Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I've been meaning to see the original Get Carter. But that Broson flick, and Straw Dogs sound incredibly awesome. Hopefully they wont be too hard to find.

Before it gets moved, I'm going to plug that Jodie Foster film from a couple years back, The Brave One. It's a nice twist on the vengeance-fueled vigilante flicks in that it's a woman who's wronged and starts taking the law into her own hands. Terrence Howard and Naveen Andrews were also in it if I'm recalling correctly.

Second the recommendation for Rob Roy, it's a fabulous revenge flick. Tim Roth is one of the creepiest, most hateable villains ever.

I was so engrossed in the movie that during the climax, I noticed that my heart was beating super fast, because I cared so much about Jodie Foster's character.
Payback is really good. Mel Gibson wants his money back damn it!
Face off is kind of a revenge movie.
What was that one with Swayze? )edit:I think I made a portmanteau of a movie here, the one with Swayze is Road House) and ... maybe meatloaf? With truckers and they stole his family!
Speaking of stole my family, Harrison Ford movies! The fugitive is kind of a revenge movie.
Death Wish with Charles Bronson.
Inglorius Basterds has some revenge going on.
Edit: Snatch has revenge stuff going on as well.
Edit: The Crow! Forgot about that.
Edit: I guess Munich is a revenge rampage movie too.

I haven't seen the 2nd punisher movie though so I can't pass judgement.
Punisher Warzone is not a revenge flick in the slightest. It is, however, just about the greatest terribad movie ever made and was unintentionally the funniest movie I've seen in a long time.
Thirded. One of the most entertaining movies I've seen, and one of the darkest...with one of the best fight scenes ever. Tremendous fun.
And Memento is amazing. I love Nolan because his weakest movie is probably Insomnia, and it's excellent. The Prestige is also pretty full of revenge, and acting.

Denzel Washington at his best of being Denzel Washington out for Revenge
This is unequivocally the movie you want.
Quantum of Solace is also a revenge movie following the events of Casino Royale.
It's old Michael Caine killing poor people.

Anytime some requests a movie to watch, I suggest Oldboy.

That said, Taken gets my vote too.
Its not for everyone, thats for sure. Like, I'd never recommend it to my mom or something.

I've only seen the director's cut, I hear it's much better than the original.
definitely fits the criteria and is enjoyable.
edit - Old Boy and Kill Bill are probably the ideal suggestions.
Boondock Saints is awesome, but it borders more on vigilantism than pure vengeance (but so does Batman so...).
I have more just sitting on the tip of my tongue but the phone is ringing.....

I hate that movie so much. I recognize that it is good writing and acting and the best fight scene involving a hammer but I still hate it.
Nuh uh! THIS is the best fight scene involving a hammer!

Rob Roy, Payback and Kill Bill are all excellent recommendations though.

Oooo, Memento is great, just an amazing piece of cinema by Christopher Nolan.
Punisher is a tale of revenge, though the movie is a little campy. I haven't seen the 2nd punisher movie though so I can't pass judgement.

Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance is the ultimate revenge movie. I dare anyone to disagree with me.
