I don't know. Are you gay for Allister? Is Teth looking for a little bromance action? If so, you might be a little dissapointed. It's cool though. You two can be like Frodo and Sam.
In the deepest recesses of my soul, perhaps I do long for him to pass through the door in slow motion as I lie in my sick bed, the two of us exchanging knowing glances.....
I was just a little disappointed they didn't add special dialogues or cut-scenes that involved your romance before or during major plot points.
Example:
The night before the final battle - yeah, you may or may not have a tender moment with Morrigan, depending on how you worked that relationship, but no one else bares their thoughts on the situation. The journey is almost at an end here. We're about to face the Archdemon and the Darkspawn Horde. There's a very real possibility we'll die. Don't you think this might be a good time for some special heartfelt moments?
There are certain major plot points I would have loved to share with my romance option. I would have loved to tell Leliana the truth about how the archdemon is killed, and get her reaction to the fact that I'd presumably have to die in order to ensure Ferelden's safety. Maybe there would be some really emotional dialogue, followed by profession of true feelings and a "let's be together for what could be the last night" love scene? I'd also have loved to have run the whole Dark Promise escape clause by her before going through with it, just to see what she had to say on the subject.
None of these would add anything in terms of gameplay, leaving them totally optional scenes that you don't have to watch in order to get anywhere, but they are things that add flavor and depth to the romance. I know that were this a real relationship, I'd want to be as open and honest with her as possible about anything that could possibly affect us. Then again I'm just a sap like that I guess.
That or get rid of the romances entirely. I'd rather they not be in there at all than they be half-assed. As mentioned before, BG2 did a great job with the romances. My favorite was with Viconia's, because the resolution was really heart breaking and sad.
So I finally broke down and got the DLC for the game.
Shale is pretty awesome yeah... but:
The lack of people going WHAT IN THE HELL IS THAT?!? Whenever she's walking around with me is a bit disconcerting. I mean, they are rare even in the Dwarf lands. One all up and walking around on the surface and talking? That shit's like having a Dragon walking around shoe shopping in town. People should be reacting to it a bit more than, "Hey, so would you like to look at my whosits for sale?"
I guess people assume that it's an ordinary golem controlled by a rod. While rare, they are not unheard of, even outside Orzammar. Besides, given Shale's size, she is pretty underwhelming for a golem.
And all this talk of romances made me look up the BG2 epilogues for the various characters. They were excellent, and yes, the Viconia romance epilogue is still a tear-jerker. It was only just now that I found out that there was a mod to prompt a much different epilogue for that particular romance, which tells a much different and in my opinion - much more fitting ending for the Bhaalspawn and his dark lover.

To be fair, that's a problem in 90% of RPGs. You could be Darkman McBadass, with an entourage of rakes, demons and other ne'er do wells, and merchants will still happily greet you, and commoners will just go about their business.
I guess the main problems are needing to record yet more dialogue for a huge number of NPCs to keep consistency, a new "WHAT THE FUCK, MAN!?" dialogue tree for everyone, and in the end probably end up severely limiting the player in what he or she can actually do, making the party they've selected very gimped. And this also ignores the consistency break when a player freaks out a merchant, changes their party and clothes, comes back, and the same merchant gives their usual happy greeting as if they're a goldfish in a bowl.
I hope someone mods in a Fergus romance for Dragon Age.
What... but...
No!
You are terrible, Pancake.
I know we have plenty of warrior NPCs already, but at least he could bring the number of weapon and shield warriors up to equal with the two-handed warriors.
Fergus is who again? Your brother in the Human Noble origin? Because if so pancake... well, I guess there could be worse things than incest, considering the setting.
Eh,a mod allowing an epilogue written by the modder sounds way too much like a way to get a perferred ending.
That being said, I was happy with the ending I got. spoilers....
Everyone ended up happy but the dwarves kinda got messed up. Harrowmont turned out to be weak and unwilling to help the casteless, leading only to more clan disputes which thereby further isolated the dwarves. Plus, the dwarf girl that went to study magic only lead to a Circle in Orzammar where the Chantry can't watch them. So of course there's a chance for a new exalted march. There should be a way to help the girl but to get an ending without all the crusade-y action, going for that in my next run.
However, instead of starting one new character for a second playthrough, I have started 5, all spread across the PC and 360 version and its a blast. I even have the same exact build of character on the PC and 360 and the difference in game play is enough that it creates two unique but very enjoyable experiences. Though the console version lacks the polish of the PC, it's game play is very addicting to me.
On the 360, I find myself using the radial menu for my abilities and I use the face button slots for sustained buffs which allows me to keep an eye on my buffs and take them off immediately if they are taking up too much energy.

It's funny that when a Dwarf or an Elf kiss Morrigan/Leliana, they suddenly are the same height. I'm still unsure whether my guy steps on a crate or if the girls just get on their knees.

Wynne says in a banter that there are ways to avoid pregnancy so I don't really see the problem at all as long as we love eachother.

Wynne advises pulling out as a perfectly acceptable method of birth control?
Well, I assume theres better methods if you're a mage.
We can find out in the new edition of the magesutra.

The Cousland line has never been stronger!
Well, it could have taken the Fire Emblem approach to Medeival Fantasy relationships. Incest all over the place there. Especially among royalty.

Although I guess that was mostly cousins.

I just figured out that crossbows without the dex fix receive exactly 0% gain from dextery (or any other stat really). I should be more suprised about this.
*goes back and hits enemies for 16 damage ... reload ... reload ... shot misses ... reload ...*
Crossbows are the single most retarded weapon in the game. Higher end Dragonbone crossbows require a ridiculous amount of strength to equip, but the weapon pulls 100% of it's damage from DEX. It does not share the 50/50 split like Bows do.
I think xbows rely on strength. I'm not sure though. I don't use physical long range DPS when I have perfectly willing mages on hand.
Actually I'm pretty sure Xbows are supposed to get nothing from strength, which makes sense.

Leliana does respectable damage with the Warden's Keep crossbow. I don't know if the drop scales at all but I didn't need to boost her strength at all.
Yeah, crossbows have a strength requirement to use, which makes sense.
They also don't have any strength bonus to damage, which...also makes sense, but makes for a really shitty weapon.
Crossbows having a strength requirement doesn't make much sense when the other bows don't.
I think it's supposed to represent strength being required to load a crossbow, while dexterity is required to knock an arrow. With strength as a secondary damage addition. I personally think Bows should get their damage modifier from Cunning by default, but that's just me.

Because we realise there's more to a relationship than sex and romance? I see how it is.

As I recall Viconia's epilogue could already go about eighty different ways depending on how and when you romanced her and etc.
