Since I was looking for a JRPG on my 360 I could use some help with choosing between Lost Odessey or The Last Remnant. Which one should I go for if I'm looking for a good story and gameplay that won't make me tear my hair in frustration?
EDIT: Also, I've seen Rogue Galaxy on a sale in my local mom and pop store, should I grab myself a copy or should I just leave it be?

Lost Odyssey is a good Final Fantasy-style RPG. Last Remnant was made by the Saga team IIRC which means gameplay that's very complex, random, and will make you tear out your hair.
Rogue Galaxy was okay-ish. It wasn't as good as I wanted it to be, but if it was sufficiently cheap I think I would recommend it.
I didn't think it was terrible either, as I finished it and I don't finish that many JRPGs. Must have been a little generic though as I can't remember anything about the characters or story. And stuff I do remember may or may not have been actually been from FFXII. My strongest memory of the game was the manufacturing mini-game, which really appealed to my inner engineer. I spent hours figuring out how to make the shit and then didn't even care what I got out of it.
Rogue Galaxy's problem is that the end-game makes absolutely no sense. The story goes straight down the drain in the last couple hours. Dashui and I were pretty much the only ones to actually finish the game in the Rogue Galaxy thread and we both felt exactly the same about the end. It comes out of nowhere, it's cliched, and it's completely unnecessary. The graphics and combat are still okay though, so if you only care about that then go ahead and pick the game up. Don't get it for story though.
That's honestly the worst part of the game, and I don't know why they make you do both of them. One is more than enough. I think even the optional dungeon you have to run through twice or something didn't take me as long as those towers.
Rogue Galaxy had a couple of fun mini-games, that was about it. The combat wasn't very good, even compared to SO3, and the combat in that game wasn't good at all.
But yeah, the story was quite terrible as well. I'm pretty sure I sold my copy about 3/4s of the way through, but I can't remember the exact point; everything just seemed to mesh into one giant slog. I'm pretty sure it was during or right after the towers, though.
Plus, the mechanic of having to open half a dozen menus to switch to a weapon so that you could fire one shot at an enemy to counter its weakness, then go through te same menus all over again to switch back, go old really fast.

Personally, I loved Lost Odyssey.
Whenever someone asks me about it though, my answer is "How did you feel about FFIX?"
FFIX was reportedly Sakaguchi's "ideal" FF, and that sentiment shows pretty strongly in Lost Odyssey. It is unrelentingly old-school and takes pretty much no risks, but at the same time it has a lot of charm and the Thousand Years of Memories, short textual stories that detail events from the immortals' pasts, is by itself probably worth giving it a chance for.

God I love me some FF9. Zidane and Vivi were awesome characters and I miss them

Lost Odyssey is good-very good- but it's unfortunate that the story goes bad in disc 4
Also, the endgame is sorta...just...dumb, I guess

Probably around the part where you learn you're part-Saiyan.
I don't get why everyone claims the story goes bad on Disc 4 of Lost Odyssey...Disc 4 is just the standard "Last Disc go do all the sidequests" stuff.
Disc 3 is the horrible one.
That's the one with mandatory party split?
Oh yeah that's the bad one, never mind
Yeah, disc 4 ain't too bad
But fucking the endgame though...besides that super-high-level area...dullllllllllllllllllll
Yeah, Disc 3 is the one where they give you a party of four mages and make you fight bosses that are immune to magic.
I liked the endgame because I finally got to turn my immortals into...well, fucking immortals. Immune to all elements, high chance of absorbing all magic and physical damage, etc.

you went with the right choice!
also i generally hear that rogue galaxy is pretty crap, though i don't know the details
Infinite Undiscovery isn't terrible, it's just unbelievably mediocre. I've never played Lost Odyssey and not much of The Last Remnant.
Edited because these horrible names are confusing me.
