Hi guys,
Does anyone here skimboard? I've seen various people at the beach do it, and I can't decide whether it looks like a lot of fun, or some epically dangerous method to move a couple of meters without any control.
Skimboards are like 60 bucks, so it seems like a cheap way for me to have fun at the beach and get out the house, but I don't know if it's any good!
A friend of mine makes them and sells them for $80. Its a ton of fun, but yeah, it can be 'dangerous.' If you're one to be concerned about falling down at running pace then its not for you. A friend went out his very first time, threw the board and jumped on, slipped and broke his collarbone. This was all within 5 minutes of getting to the beach Poor bastard.
Anyway, its a super fun way to kill time at the beach and if you have any sort of waves the huge jumps and flips will be worth it if you spend some time. Plus, they look cool on the wall. I'd say its definitely worth $60 even just to try a few times. $60 all in for a good physical activity rather than a video game? Good investment.
It's a fun thing, be prepared to fall a lot when you're getting used to it. If you have anywhere near decent coordination, you'll pick up the basics fairly quickly.

Convince one of your friends that skimboarding is awesome and when they buy one just go to the beach with them and mooch.
