I kill rooftop guards with the stiletto now, because the "kill from behind" stiletto animations are sweeeeet
I always grab them and shove them off the roofs. I never tire of that. I love watching them stumble and then fall. Or poisoning them and watching them shuffle around, waiting to see if they'll fall.
I'm a sick bastard.

The first thing I did after getting poison was go around poisoning one guard in a standing group. It's hilarious to see him take out his weapon and beat up his buddies, and the crowd that gathers to watch the poor guy die a slow death is fantastic.
Up to sequence 10, and loving this game. Except the stupid dungeons for the assassin's tombs. Those are extremely fucking annoying. I bought an Assassin's Creed game, not Prince of Persia.
Just a heads up. If you're not talking to everyone you can at every opportunity in the real-world sequences, you're cheating yourself out of some very cool character development. There's no achievement for it this time around, but definitely keep trying to talk to them until they tell you to sod off, they're busy.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels like this. Although I didn't mind them up until the timed segments, especially the ones in the Auditore family crypt. In one of the last two tombs I took 40 attempts to complete one of the timed gate platforming sections.

the only tomb i disliked was the water one, except for the giant squid
the rest were ok
and i just completed my second playthrough and none of them really bothered me that much the second time around, they were quite enjoyable.
also, what is it that makes platforming segments unacceptable in an Assassin's Creed game? They are far from the focus of the game, but Ubisoft has a great platforming engine set up with the free-running system and it'd be crazy not to utilize it.
I found the assassins tomb located in the church to be a bit frustrating, But for the most part I found them to be extremely enjoyable and nice change of pace.
The water one was kind of frustrating...but it was almost the only hard part in a game a wish had been a little harder so I can't really complain.
While I agree that it would have been nice if it were a bit harder overall, just think of how many people couldn't get past the beam in the tower in Acre. If they couldn't manage something liek that, how are they going to manage other difficult free running sequences?
Sometimes I find Ezio/Altair a little unwieldy, especially when he's jumping from boxes to a sequence of rods. The camera won't be in the right position and he'll jump right next to a rod instead of onto it.
Also, those reviewers who said that the architecture of Italy doesn't lend itself as easily to roof jumping were right. I'm constantly diving off roofs not really knowing where I'll land next due to the slopes. The Holy Land was a bit more boxy in their architecture.

It's a little broken up, certainly. I find it easier to get around at street level, it's just so much less hassle.
Sure, there are the lute-playing bastards, but they're nowhere near as annoying as AC1's "just a few coins!" in stereo non-stop.

The beggars I instantly found annoying ("No, you don't understand. I need money!"). The bards started playing for me during my "escort mama and Claudia" mission and I didn't want him to blow my cover so I threw coins (I guess that's what the game tells you to do). My only problem is that right behind one bard was his exact twin, so...yeah.
I did giggle at his song though, because I don't speak Italian and it just seems like he is trying so hard. Can't push them aside though.
edit: So the QTEs sequences, is it worth failing any of them? I've gotten all of them except for one where I went to scratch my face and missed getting the hidden blade to pop out for Paola.

I don't understand how people can find the bards annoying.
You can easily just throw some coins down and all bards in the general area will scurry to pick up the whopping 10 florens you've dropped. If you're feeling especially frustrated for some reason, you can 'grab' them by the collar and throw them to the ground. That is pretty satisfying.
Finished this today and I have to say that it's the most enjoyable gaming experience I've had in a long time, despite the fact that I play most every half decent release (much to the displeasure of my wallet.)
I'm just completely surprised after not liking the first game enough to warrant more than a small play.
The Auditore crypt and the water one are the ones I was referring to. I like platforming, I love the freerunning aspect, I just hate the pressure of the timed section. I don't mind falling down and screwing up, getting better each time. Just something about the timed component and particular sequences of platforming.
Funnily enough I had no problem with either of the churches. The first one had no timed segments (and I even fell down and did some really stupid stuff in that one). The second one seemed a lot better laid out and I had less control issues.

My favourite part about that timed tomb was I missed by a split second on the last one, but it wouldn't reset so I could try again. Awesome.
One of the best things? Throwing down ten florins and inexplicably pickpocketing more than ten florins each from every single person crowded around the money. :winky:
Set in present-day, controlling New-and-Improved Assassin-Desmond against the Templars, but early on he finds one of the Pieces of Eden, plugs it into some piece of technology in one of the tombs and accidentally summons time-travel-duplicates of Altair and Ezio and the plot becomes some kind of bizarre Assassin version of the Three Musketeers. Only with hundreds of knives everywhere.

3 way split screen in the style of the assassin symbol!

three languages spoken at once, with a crazy game of telephone, all while assassinating modern day beggers who wont get out of your way

At least Desmond would understand it all via bleeding effect, and the subtitles always help

Yeah, but Altair and Ezio wouldn't be able to understand each other. Most of the game's dialogue would be along the lines of
Altair:"Can you understand what he's saying?"
Desmond:"I can understand him. Can't you?"
Altair:"No, what's he's saying?"
Desmond:"He says he can't understand what you're saying."
Altair:"Well, I can't understand what he's saying."
Desmond:"I know that, you just told me."
Altair:"But he doesn't, he can't understand me. Tell him I don't understand him."
Ezio: "Wait, what're you and Altair talking about?"
And all the while Lucy watches and understand none of it. It'd be gloriously ridiculous.

I really want to see that.
Imagine the old school assassins getting used to the future aswell...
"Where are my hay piles?"
"Oh, use garbage instead"
"BASTARDO!"
Agreed, especially for the hidden tomb parts. I have a route all mapped out, and then all of a sudden the camera will spin around.
I know that the game is telling me to go a particular way, but I can't for the life of me figure out what it wants me to do and really can I please have my normal camera back? Please?
It's cool armor, but it bugs me that it doesn't look at all like something altair would wear.
It looks 100% renesance/Italian. So while I think it's great as a "top tier" armor for Ezio, I can't picture a guy walking through Damascus or Acre wearing it. I was hoping for something a little more... multi-century. Or just a very ornate armor that you still put on over what ever dye job your character had at the time.
