Though we had little more than names to go on before, Ubisoft let some details slip today about the two forthcoming chunks of Assassin's Creed 2 DLC, due at the end of January and end of February respectively. In "Battle of Forli" ($3.99), you'll defend Forli (surprise) from the Orsi brothers with the aid of Machiavelli and Caterina Sforza. With six new memories, the DLC will allow you to "accomplish a daring rescue and prevent the Piece of Eden from falling into the hands of the Templars." Also, the flying machine is back!
In "Bonfire of the Vanities" ($4.99), you and Machiavelli will free Florence from "the grip of the mad monk Savonarola" by offing his underlings in ten memories. There's also a new district of Florence, and a new move for Ezio: the spring-jump, as if his similarity to Luigi wasn't already striking enough.
As many have speculated, the two additions fill in the missing sequences (12 and 13) from the game, meaning the DLC is a great buy for people who love murder and people with obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Think there's a chance the flying machine will ever be usable in the game proper? I kept waiting to get it when I was playing in the first one.

Well, it needs you to fly over thermal sources like bonfires, and those aren't scattered around cities unless it's a mission and they're specifically placed for it. So using it in the game proper would mean flying for about 5 seconds.

is there any way to get DLC if your PS3 is not hooked up to an internet connection?

That sounds ridiculously cheap for what I've been told is 1gb worth of content each. I'm not complaining if it's true though
woah, holy shit
ok, all that shit i was flinging in the earlier threads/posts about DLC goes right out the window if they are actually reasonable with pricing. wow, was not expecting that.

ok so i have all achievemets except the sweep and throw sand ones, as well as the kill 10 guys without being hit.
how do i even sweep and how do i even throw sand? i have yet to figure this out. also, where is the best place to get baddies that do not run away? not getting hit is easy at this point, but after i kill like 5 peeps everyone else runs away from me.

You have to buy them from the training master by your villa. I find the best place to grab a bunch of enemies is the restricted palace in vience by one of the quick travel stations. Just run around without attacking and get like 10 of them following you to have a chance of them bunching up enough to get 5 of them with one attack

The easiest way to get those achievements is to throw down a smoke bomb first. The throw sand one will be cake, where the other two will be slightly more difficult.
Go to the big palace in Venice, you'll easily attract enough guards, then back away a decent amount while staying locked on, charge and throw early because they will rush you and hit you before you can hit them.
Do not use smoke on that it just doesnt work, if you leave lock on you can't use the sweep until they start fighting again, he just strikes when I do it.
Get a long weapon before you start, rather than try to grab one in the middle of the fight. If you provoke a bunch of guards then run into an alley, you can get them to bunch up in a tight group, which makes them a lot easier to sweep in one go.
The tactic worked for me for the sand thing as well.
Im a few hours into this and only have one confused observation...
Why do i need my map to find my next important objective (You normally cant see the white swirly circles until youre right on top of them), and yet i can "Sense" prostitutes though buildings a block away?
The throw sand achievement is really quick if you throw hoes at some guards.
Finished it up, all feathers and everything. Best of luck till Jan/Feb and the DLC, guys.
Waiting for the mailmen to get here after taking the package back yesterday (would have been one day shipping) and then I have to wait until after I get all loopy and get my wisdom teeth taken out.
Carnivale mask/cape + Altair armor is so sweet looking. Left Venice and now I'm running around all dressed up doing side missions in other cities while I can still wear it.

And am I the only one who doesn't mind the goatee?
I have no problem whatsoever with it. People get very uppity about it for some reason so I haven't bothered with talking about it.
Alot of folk dislike anything that can be construed as 'an attempt to be cool', which includes facial hair (dwarf beard excluded).
I'm surprised that the same people aren't upset that the final armor is black too. Heaven forbid.
You need a certain type of climbing technique Rosa will teach you.
If you already have that, climb up the side that's facing the Doge's palace. There'll be metal rings that wrap around the tower to the right. If you don't try to move sideways at the right point, it can seem like those rings are a dead end, but they're not.
Just started it up, and in 5 minutes I already like it more. More color, I think Kristen Bell actually looks a bit better this time at times (AT TIMES. Other times she looks like a clown) and much more action, even as a tutorial. I don't slow walk everywhere and I have freedom of movement.
Are there any easily missable trophies this time around, like AC1 and how there was a "Talk to Lucy every time" achievement?
Well, I am still being impressed by this game. Even after 20+ hours I am still seeing new animations...having a lot of fun finding axes and pikes, just to watch the counter-kills.
Also, did anyone else jump into the Villa's well after repairing it? I thought how neat it would be, on a whim, and was shocked to discover an underground cavern with two treasure chests in it. The depth of detail in this game (no pun intended) is phenomenal.

Most of the trophies are either tied to story or combat, and of course there are the completionist ones. There is, however, one trophy which is tied to the Flying Machine and you only use the Flying Machine in one mission, so I guess there is one missable one, yes.

There's another one in the mine, which is at the back of the villa (behind the big Auditore house), outside the walls. You have the upgrade the mine before you get it.
Just checked that out, thanks! Yeah, so what's everyone's favorite hidden blade animation? Sauntering up between two brutes and stretching looks sweet as hell, but I just found my new favorite. After an extended fight, the last surviving guard started to put his sword away just as I hit X.
Ezio knocked one of his legs out from under him, forced him to his knees, and finished him execution style with a hidden blade through his skull.

That sounds like a pretty sweet deal if the DLC is as meaty as the 1GB file size would seem to indicate.

Also screw them for putting so much collectible stuff in, I have to get it all
You can free roam.

There doesnt seem to be anyway to climb all the way to the top of the tower
If you already have that, climb up the side that's facing the Doge's palace. There'll be metal rings that wrap around the tower to the right. If you don't try to move sideways at the right point, it can seem like those rings are a dead end, but they're not.
(I had problems with that tower too)
They're ruining my system. Get to new area, do all viewpoints and codex paged, and then proceed.
Bah, which one's Rosa , or have I not met her yet since I literally just go to Venice?
Though it's still advisable to get the viewpoints.
