I like that there's AdBlock now, but the extension slows loading time for me - more than loading the actual ads themselves did. Looking at the comments on the extension, I'm not alone; hopefully they're working on that.

When I save an image, is there a way to stop the Download Bar from popping up and putting it in the Download Manager?

I use Flashblock because even though it blocks flash it still shows you that it's there and you can just click to prompt it to work.

I'm using adthwart at the moment; seems to do the job well, and doesn't seem to slow down anything. Maybe try it out?

Adthwart was pretty horrible. It hasn't been updated since early Dec the last time I looked at it, and it caused rendering flickers as it processed the page. On things like google reader it'd die after 100 or so posts and take out any tab that it was involved with at the time.

Adblock's a lot better, I've found, but nowhere near as good as the Firefox adblocking extensions. It'll do for now.

I don't like the AdBlock for chrome. Its css stylesheets bleed through into pages for me sometimes.

I only just started using Adthwart, but so far I've had no trouble. Rendering flickers can be fixed, I believe, by checking "Hide all images and Flash while ads are removed" in the Adthwart options.

With Flashblock and a dependable adblock extension now available, Chrome is good stuff.

Edit: Though I could go for some smooth scrolling.

Annoying thing (probably more a feature than a bug) is that extensions are disabled in Incognito Mode, so smooth scrolling is gone there.

I'm having an annoying issue with Chrome, in that when maximized it will randomly cover my task bar (which is set to auto-hide) and continue to do so until I close the window and start Chrome again. Any ideas why this might be happening? I'm not running any extensions.

Well, with all these new extensions only one thing is stopping me making the switch from Firefox.

In Firefox I use something called "Brief" to look at my feeds, mostly just to follow updates to comics and such. I like using this just because it's always one click away.

Is there a good alternative in Chrome? I understand a lot of people use Google Reader - but I don't much fancy the idea of a web application (unless someone can convince me otherwise), although a stand-alone feed reader might be nice but I have no idea where to find a good one - any hints?

I have been trying out various mouse gesture extensions and none of them work 100% of the time. Sometimes they don't do anything, on some tabs they will work and then stop once I navigate around a bit, and other times the gesture wont even activate when I right click, seems like none of them work on the new tab page either.

    Any ideas?

I'm back in Chrome and am now an extension whore. Chrome has come so far in such a short time.

So is there still no Greasemonkey and Stylish extensions for Chrome. Just took a quick look and couldn't find anything. I won't convert totally until I get those.

*EDIT* Ok, found a Stylish knockoff, but nothing at all for Greasemonkey. This makes me sad :(

Look up user.js (or "User Scripts") for chrome.

You don't have 100% support for greasemonkey scripts, but user.js support has existed in opera for a while, and it sounds like chrome has support for the scripts now too. They're basically a subset of what greasemonkey does.

For some reason my Chrome has stopped updating automatically, so I can't install any extensions. And there is of course no manual update button, so I'll have to reinstall the damn thing.

I didn't even know it had an automatic update. I've always gone to the About window to do it.

I don't really know, I might not have downloaded a new release since the beta. That could maybe explain things?

IIRC, the User Scripts support in Chrome was developed by the dude who originally wrote Greasemonkey. There are still some small differences, though.

What I love about Chrome is the style. Everything is the right size and at the right place. I know it's a stylistic choice by the developers, but even the various extension icons look great.

I also didn't realize how ugly FF was until I started installing extensions. I have several icons in the address bar and the toolbar thing, and it doesn't seem cluttered.

Youtube has a beta using the video tag, but I'm not sure if you consider that an "app" or not.

I occasionally try the html5 version but it still chugs a bit, instead of lagging like the flash player this one simply stops for a second or two and then resumes playback. :P

This is on an EeePC 901 running Linux, though.

My only 'issue' with Youtubes html5 player was the progress indicator used to lie about how long a video was. It be halfway or 3/4th's through according to that, but actually be about done. Minor problem that seems to have cleared up.

Huh, I just had Chrome crash so hard it hard locked the computer, and upon restart I couldn't get it to run without crashing. Had to uninstall and reinstall. Hazards of using the dev channel, I guess.
