The continuous jumping isn't getting any better. It's worse. I realized this after being killed by an almost invincible Scientist over and over.
Double-jumping around wildly doesn't break the lock-on healing beam.
I then tested this out for myself...you can basically just hold the button down and jump around like crazy, and barely even try to keep your aim somewhat near the target. Unless they've also got a beam locked onto you, as long as you stay out of melee range it's ridiculously hard to get hit. A sentry or healing grenade makes it even more fun, and Shockwave if they get anywhere near you just seals the deal.

I've come to appreciate every class in multiplayer, finally.
When you get them all working right, it feels pretty great knowing you can wreck people with all four classes.
Hitting Hover and killing 3-4 enemies in a big fight with a single Scrapmaker magazine? Awesome. Screaming out of the sky to paste a Leader before he can buff his teammates and then zooming away before anyone else knows you were there? Awesome. Getting 2-3 kills as a Scout by flanking a group of enemies and using the decloak buff? Awesome. Hitting Warcry as a Leader and shredding multiple enemies solo with an energon axe? Transform-and-roll-out awesome because I am Optimus Prime.
Basically, I love the hell out of this game.
Oh yeah, today I got to push a Leader off an edge to an environmental death using Shockwave. He'd just hit Warcry, too; knowing I'd just casually brushed off a fight which would have gotten me killed made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Scientists with Shockwave seem like a completely vital tool for Power Struggle. Even if you don't actually kill anyone, you easily push them all off the point and force a capture timer reset.
My game froze like three times tonight during multiplayer. Had to reset the whole system...
I hope it's not my PS3
No sometimes the install gets wonky. Keep you save data and un-reinstall the game data. There is yes a patch in the works, but this should fix it. Did for me.
So I just got this game yesterday and I am loving it. How many of you had the biggest shit eating grin on your face during the 2nd chapter when you jump into the air transform into a plane, rocket up to a platform, transform again in mid-air and come down with an axe strike on the pathetic Autobots?
My geek nipples are so hard right now.
Still haven't had a chance to play MP, i'll prolly give it a whirl sometime this weekend!
There seems to be a low number of people playing this online already - makes me worried the MP community will vanish before long. I don't understand their stats though - it will say something like "10000 online" but if you add up the people in each playlist it's way below that.
Can anyone confirm this update actually lets you keep XP if the host drops out of a match?
it also counts people in escalation i think, and maybe even people in co-op.
i too have had issues with freezing. usually when trying to join or leave a game, it locks up in the loading screen. i can tell because when i press guide nothing happens. sucks, but hopefully that got patched...
I'm not much for playing these kinds of games online (or any kind of game actually, since online play makes me feel inept and retarded), but that double xp weekend sounds really tempting. I really want to get the most out of this game, since it's the first time since that PS2 armada game came out, that any console Transformers game has felt right.
Any quick tips on getting started online, without looking like a complete douche? Keep in mind that I've died many, many times in the 2nd autobot chapter on Normal difficulty, so my skill is probably severely lacking.

Double XP weekend? On the 4th of July? Dammit I have no time to play.

starting out try the scout. he's the easiest to learn and he's quick. abuse his cloak all the time, and use the element of surprise. play conquest, where you'll earn more XP just for taking and defending points. learn the scientist, and try to follow bigger characters and heal them. and also STICK TOGETHER.
please

I'll try to keep this in mind. I do love the differences in classes they've created and especially the heal possibilities of some items/weapons.
My biggest problem with any game that requires social interaction is that I'm not a great team player and never use a headset (autism powers activate!), so I tend to miss a lot of cues from other players and that makes me feel like an idiot. The scout would probably be the way to go for me, so I can play it like a sort of robot ninja.
You don't need to wear a headset if you're just playing in public matches, which is a message I would like to convey to EVERYONE IN THE WORLD WHO PLAYS ONLINE MULTIPLAYER IN ANYTHING. If you're not playing with friends and carrying on a conversation in private chat or a party, keep your goddamn mouth shut.
Nah, I've had plenty of fun in all forms of public multiplayer matches. The maps are small enough and the objectives simple enough that you shouldn't need a magical abundance of coordination to make any headway (especially now that you retain xp if a host quits).

Awww. I don't get to go "Slag!" when I get shot down in game?
I'm not much for playing these kinds of games online (or any kind of game actually, since online play makes me feel inept and retarded)
I've never, ever played a shooter online until this game. I'm consistently able to score well in Team Deathmatch, Conquest, and Power Struggle, and it's a ton of fun. But half the time I'm on a team where we lose horribly.
It happens, and it doesn't make the game any less fun. When you get slagged for the third time by the same guy who is camping near a spawn point in tank mode because "Oh, I'm gonna get this fucker this time", you have to realize that this you're just a part of someone else's "awesome moment" and roll with it.
As long as you can understand that you might lose as often as you win, but that you still get XP and everyone is having fun, I definitely recommend online play, even if you don't usually go for it.
Also, because most game modes are team based, there's little opportunity or reason for people to be assholes - I've gotten some jerk messages in Street Fighter, but no one I've ever played in this has sent me a profanity filled message.
Not sure who sent me a message to play from the Eroticons tag yesterday mid-day but sorry I didn't take it. It was my work from home day and I ended up getting swamped mid-match. I'm sure my team hated me for all the deaths

Man,some times the multiplayer can be absolutely fucking frustrating.
Other times you ram into a dude, kill him, transform, kill another guy with your Fusion Cannon and then hack a Scout in two with your axe.
I got teamkilled last night for the first time. How does this happen with no friendly fire? Hint: It wasn't splash damage, either.
No, I'm driving along in Orbital Debris, and suddenly I get into a fender bender with a transforming Leader, which for some reason sends me careening off the bridge we were on.
The collision detection and bouncing around from said collisions is really strange. At the beginning of a match it's less "Autobots, roll out" and more "Autobots, fall all over yourselves".

Ah yes. Leaders can kinda just 'do' that. It's one of the dirtier tricks they can use on high platforms and narrow spaces. I kept wondering why I was getting creamed by a Leader in the tunnels of Orbital Debris and it was because the Decepticon leader was ramming me into the walls. Oiy.

If that happens is grab my assault rifle/automatic sniper rifle scientist with improved infiltration and improved sonic wave (and weapon stabilizer).
Oh sure... you will not kill fast, but you will annoy the hell out of the enemy team, even if they are really good teamplayers with L25 chars.
Disguise, look for the enemy team, land somewhere near (not too near, especially good players are suspicious when a flyer lands near), mix with them, wait till an engagment happens, use the mace on one from behind, sonic blast, transform, get out of there and take a sniping position... repeat.
If you should be damaged there is always the heal grenade or scooping up a energon cube in flight.
If done well, even if only three blocks of health, this makes for one very survivable and annoying strategy for being disguise, being able to kill fast, being able to deal major AE damage and being able to rethreat quickly.
Suddenly they have to pay a lot more of attention to their backs. Plus you are too fast for being sniped at.
Its sheer terror, but its slow in racking up kills. But ist also a quite save way to stay alive.
Plus... if it should happen you fall into the abyss, you can fly ;-)
And being aerial means not being that good a target for being rammed.
Another nice combo with the leader chassis is shield barrier and improved ram. If you have the enemy team in front of you, you drop the barrier and when they come charging you transform and drive through them with ram. Quite interesting.
Unless there's a scientist perk that counters it (I looked over them and didn't see one), your crosshair always turns red when pointed at an enemy scientist, even if they are disguised. It's the fastest way to spycheck and works at any distance.

Had a great kill last night. Killed an entire team with a single whirlwind. They were all in a corner healing each other and picking us apart when trying to get to them. I ran up the hill and leapt over them when my team tried to get them again. Land, Whirlwind, laugh like a circus clown as I drop 5 people almost simultaniously.

are you my clone? i had almost the exact same experience. playing Molten (the demo map) I driving from B to A as I come down the ramp i see all 5 decepticon players standing still capturing the node. So I fire my cannon transform hit whirlwind, 2 go down right away, the other three all run away. I mean run not backpedal trying to shoot me. Don't know why they didn't transform. Got 2 more before whirlwind stopped then just shot the last one in the end
All that was missing was The Touch playing.
Also has anyone else noticed on certain maps some classes seem to be much better?

Ro-Bro Fist Bumps!
And yeah I have seen that in several maps that certain classes just shine. Some are sniper heavy, others favor jets, and some favor soldiers and Leaders.
A couple of incredibly frustrating matches and lots of fun ones with Puppy, Klyka and Zoid. All multiplayer games are better with dudes you know but this even more so.
Leg Servos officially sucks. I can't even tell the difference between normal and increased footspeed.
On the other hand, dimensional armor is pretty great.
In fact, I'm fairly certain at this point that the Scout really is overpowered. Between the de-cloak bonus, dimensional armor, and mark target, bringing down three soldiers all together isn't really that big of a deal. I'm more concerned about Scouts getting close to me as a Soldier than Scientists walking around with nucleon shock cannons. Maybe the Scientists should get the auto-shotty and the Scouts should get the EMP shotgun? Because unless you get lucky, there's just no way to escape the wrath of a Scout short of a turret hanging around. Even then, they still have plenty of time to get close and use their de-cloak buff to do serious damage.

I'm aiming for Soldier first then probably scout so I can see if the null ray really is awesome sauce or if I should change my gamer tag to sniper bait

Discovering that Mark Target is actually good turned me into a killer. Discovering that it has unlimited range turned me into a monster. "Oh no! Is he right behind me? Is he across the stage?" Am I safe behind this wall?"
Sometimes I just randomly hit someone with it to freak them out, like if they're hanging near a window and I don't think I can get a good shot off.
