Hey, so I'm trying to help my sister import her over 900(0!) contacts from her Mac Address Book...thing, to her Gmail account. She's tried to use the Google importer thing before but it just hung, probably due to the amount of contacts. I thought it was doing that thing where it has a massive file to work with and takes very long, but she says that she left it running overnight and that the little circle that shows it is working just kept spinning overnight and nothing happened. Now, I know fuck all about Macs, but is there an easier or faster way to do this? Some sort of program or whatnot?

Before I realized that address book contact lists are one file (20 MB VCard or CSV or something here, apparently) I had suggested to her that she somehow parse down the contact list into smaller pieces that would perhaps be easier for the program to work with. Is there any validity to my suggestion and is there a way to do this?

Hmm, never mind. I guess it can be locked now. Turns out she was trying to import the address book app into Gmail instead of the contacts. I got suspicious when Google FAQ said I could import 3000 contacts at a time, which should mean her book would be a piece of cake.

    You're my inspiration, H/A.
