HD trailer confirms. That is DEFINITELY SuZe.

Interestingly, Grunt is listed as 300+ and his genophage status is "infertile" in his C-sec file.

    Yeah, it's her.

That command ring shot on the other hand... Not sure what to take from that.

edit: What I mean is that yes, they have wildly different ammo counts - but each is neatly divisible by four, and each of the 'clip sizes' by that assumption seems pretty reasonable. 5 shots each clip for the shottie, 10 for the pistol, 110 for the AR, and 2 for the sniper.

So I'd certainly lean toward it being universal ammo, and Shepard having four heatsink clips in that screenie.

Isn't "ammo" in Mass Effect basically just a chunk of metal? Universal ammo doesn't seem to odd to me.

edit- To further explain: I think the Codex says something about how pistols, assault rifles, and shotguns do not have actual bullets/shells. Instead they just have a chunk of metal where the magazine would be and the weapon shaves off a micro-thin piece and then launches it at incredible speeds doing devastating damage.

    It is heatsinks, and they are universal;
There’s been some talk about whether or not we’ve added ammo to Mass Effect 2. Because we had essentially unlimited ammo in Mass Effect 1, it kind of took away some of the tension that there is in combat, that makes you consider your weapon use a little bit more. Without abandoning the idea of ammo, or of overheat, we had to create the concept of overheat into an ammo-style system. Your weapons overheat like they do in Mass Effect 1, but they overheat into cells that are part of an overall clip, and you can find these universal clips of thermal heat sinks. It’s similar to an ammo system; it kind of limits the number of shots you an do before you rund out of thermal heat sinks. There difference is, it’s something that can add tension to combat without you actually having bullets that can be expended.

Taken from this very recent interview here

So. . . you need to collect "heat-sink clips". Each clip has a certain number of shots you can take before it burns out. You need to get more heat-sinks so you can keep shooting? How is this not ammo? Because they call it something else?

Or can you keep shooting without heat-sinks only with some sort of penalty?

Well since he says you can run out of shots, I would think that without heatsinks one cannot shoot.

Like I said earlier, this situation of no ammo should be mitigated by heavy weapons, powers, and melee.

From what we've heard, originally the intention was that it would be just like Mass Effect 1, except you could eject a heatsink (of which you had a limited number) to reset the overheat quicker so you wouldn't feel so stupid waiting around for your weapon to cool.

Since then it seems they've realised an ammo system is actually more fun and just changed it so you have to eject the heatsink before you can use your weapon again.

Well I don't care either way about heatsinks, ammo, or what-have-you. I just think their whole dancing around the issue is a bit weird. I mean if it walks like a duck. . . .

Well the way I read it is "When you overheat, you lose a clip" so if your conservative you should be able to have infinite ammo

But just like you said, they've painted themselves into a corner, fiction-wise. The guns in the ME universe hold thousands of shots each.

I think the whole heat issue is a good enough way to work around that.

No, you've a limited amount of shots for each clip and they don't recharge. You can see it in videos.

edit: I mean it used to be like that - in old, E3-time videos there's an overheat bar like the original ME. But in new ones it's just an ammo counter. The vanguard vid is actually in an interesting inbetween stage - there's an overheat bar and an ammo counter, but the overheat bar never goes down until you eject a heatsink.

Well don't get me wrong, I am not knocking the system. I think it will do just as they hope, add tension to combat. I just find it humorous that they are trying to pass a painted horse for a zebra.

As has been said before, they have to stick with Mass Effect lore. It's already been established that weapons pretty much have infinite ammo, so they couldn't just go back on that. BUT, weapons did overheat in the first game, so they built upon that so that while weapons technically have infinite ammo, you still have to pop in heatsinks.

And yeah, after watching that HD trailer, it's SuZe. In that youtube one, I couldn't really even make out the tattoos. She still definitely has man hands though. Not that she's the most feminine female in the first place.

Also, I denied Bhatia getting his wife's body back, hoping the research done on it gives me some cool upgrades.

I solved the unlimited -> limited ammo problem. Any further questions about canon explanations for the new ammo system can be referred to this post.

Sovereign was goddamn huge. I'm pretty sure if such was the case, there would be enough to get through ME2 with liberal use of ammo.

Keep in mind most of Sovereign comprises various relics like the Rachni Flute (used to perform the Rachni Summon) and is scattered across the galaxy, so in the final accounting there isn't that much that can be used as cannon fodder.
