I don't care what you think about witch builds, that was f-ing epic to me.

I definitely call bullshit on that one. The fact that he didn't get shot during his first run, in the open, across the bridge, shows the lie. That was staged. There were way too many times when no one was really shooting at him, or they shot and just "missed."

No that's totally believable. You can see when he checks the scoreboard the other team, and most of his team for that matter, are all below rank 30 non-prestige. Maybe he had one or two guys rigged, I mean he had most of both teams already muted before the game started so he's definitely joined it from a previous lobby.

Some people are just good. And the knife build is bullshit.

    I think I've figured out why I like the FAL: it's like a really long-range high-power USP .45.

You just convinced me to start leveling the FAL instead of any other gun next

You feel like the manliest of men using it. Also in hardcore it's a one-hit kill at any range, which is awesome.

The FAL has made me a much better player, since spray and pray is not part of the weapon's design. I'm trying to master it right now, and all I have left is 11 FMJ kills - running around with FMJ+Silencer - Bling, SP, and...Ninja I think, and man it's a killer at any range. The iron sights block my view too much at times, and from the hip it's crap when facing a shotty or SMG, but that's what my backup ranger is for!

I think my next weapon mastery focus will be a non-AR weapon. Maybe a LMG.

The irons on the FAL are designed for long-range shooting, talking like 200m or more. They're fantastic for doing things like shooting down the streets from the balconies on Invasion, or holding B on Karachi. For in-close stuff... not so much, just aim for center of mass and hope for the best.

Aye, little heads poking out, or people running down the street are awesome targets for the FAL's iron sights - but mid-range, where I find myself often, it blows. Relying on a secondary for mid/close range is best. I'm gimping my mid-range by running with a ranger, but...it's just too much fun!

Lot of fun, but the class it comes with is crap. (Danger Close and AT-4, Sitrep, are you kidding me?)

I'm going to level it up with stopping power, then do the Tar since I went right from SCAR to M16 to ACR.

The more I hear it talked about the more I think I'll end up prestiging at least once, if only for the extra challenges and custom slot. Plus it won't really hurt me starting again since the Famas is still my main gun for when I get tired of using whatever weapons I'm tired of leveling so it won't really be any different.

SPAS or M1014 both work extremely well until you have the Masterkey unlocked. I'm a huge proponent of the Masterkey because you then have basically three weapons - AR, underslung shotgun, Stinger.

Man, I've had the heartbeat sensor just sitting there waiting for me to use with my SCAR. FINALLY decided to use it last night. Three consecutive rounds. 20-2, 17-1, and 12-4. Got accolades all three rounds for killing the entire enemy team, and killing the entire enemy team without dying.

    It almost feels like cheating.

Also trying to unlock tac-knife for the magnum. Aparently my Magnum shoots marshmallow ammo only. I thought magnums were "fuck off" powerful, but people just seem to giggle when I shoot them with it.

What is a good secondary for the FAL? Shotgun or machine pistol?

It is mostly a question of how you play and what you are comfortable with, there will be certain trade-offs depending on what you use.

Shotguns tend to be one-shot kills but you can often find yourself ranged by the enemy so it becomes a question of when you should switch to them. Perfect aim tends not to be required when using them so that might be a rather large upside if playing on consoles. In a straight up close range shoot out a shotgun can often let you walk away damage as your first blast killed the opponent while he had to fire multiple rounds and wasn't able to before he died.

The SPAS-12 has good range but last stand and multiple opponents become tricky due to the pump action. The M1014 on the other hand has less range but can clear those obstacles far easier.
Personally I don't care much for the rest of them.

Machine pistols have less inbuilt limitations but require you to be better at aiming. You can however score kills at longer ranges and they tend to be stupidly accurate even when used akimbo which is the big draw. You can think of them as sub-machine guns that doesn't suck akimbo'ed.

The g18 slings a lot of lead and can carve a path through pretty much anything, it also doesn't have much reciol and a large clip so you can walk the fire through multiple people. Ammo tends to be a problem.
The Raffica with it's three round burst is like a small m16 and becomes something like a mini-shotgun at close range while still being able to kill at medium-long range.

Do the barrels fire independently if you're using just one ranger at a time? like mouse 1, mouse 2 for left, right barrels or does it just fire one then the other.

No, Karachi on the stairwell to the top of the building that overlooks the market. Not the small building in the center of the market, but the stairs across from the pallets of bags, if that makes any sense. The fb effect is apparently brief enough from the top of the stairs that it wears off enough for him to peg me with the rangers when I pop out for the semtex. I tried twice, then shook it off and shot his buddies instead.

On the 360 if you pull one trigger twice it fires both in rapid succession. If you pull both triggers it fires both barrels at the same time. I'd assume it's the same on the PC.

I know I'm going to go prestige once, mayyyyyybe twice if the PC online community settles down (less hacking would be swell...)

so, any tips for grinding that XP? obviously working on mastering favorite guns is a nice 10K bonus, anything else?

Just FYI, 60-70 takes about as long as 1-59 does. You can rack up a ton of points playing Demolition and Headquarters. If you're good at it, S&D is fantastic for points, and the rounds end quickly, but if you're not so great you get nothing, so that depends on you.

Oh and as for the FAL secondary: the Striker is a great backup for objective modes, particularly Headquarters, because you can just blast away with that huge clip and not have to worry about aiming too much in close quarters.

I feel like we have similar playstyles on this even tho I haven't played a game with you or any pa people for that matter. But reading your posts it seems that like me you prefer to play a mobile role in the game vs covering a zone or similar.

As a person who generally prefers to "put the shotty to the body" in most fps games. Camping out areas feels like an alien concept to me, yet for some reason I don't like the shotguns in this game :( as such some times in the FFA gametype I prefer I get absolutely WORKED. It's quite difficult for me to want to sit in an area or try and control a single point. Since Quake lan I have always attempted to play a more patrol oriented fps game in "arcade" shooters normally I would patrol things like the best gun and the nearest 1 or 2 other powerful items (stuff like Quad damage or overshields). The lack of that sort of direction is alot of what hurts "realistic" fps games for me since short of stages like Estate, Invasion, Rust, and Terminal I don't feel like my patrol style works out well.

Actually, my main build involves a stealth-based silenced UMP loadout that stakes out a high-traffic area and polices it. I set two claymores at different exits, and take potshots at players that enter the perimeter. Once my position is known, I wait to see if I get any claymore kills from rushers, then I re-mine the area and vacate, moving to a different spot.

Usually i get a few more mine kills from guys trying to flush me out of the building I just camped. It's more of a territory-control style. I am trying more run and gun, which is why I experimented with Bling for the sensor. However, I find that to get maximum use out of the sensor I'd have to run unsilenced. Which usually leads to a third guy picking me off after I hunt down another player. Therefore, I kept going back to my stealth build, because I hate giving away my position when I fire.

I do have an OMA build that I'm practicing with, but I normally do this in bigger team games where giving away my position isn't as critical.

Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.
