Okay, so I recently purchased this monitor. It looks amazing with my computer, but when I hooked my Xbox up VIA HDMI cable to it, it looks washed out. I went through all the settings and messed with them and I still get the same result.
Before I bought this monitor, my xbox box was hooked up to a 42" 1080p 120 Hz LCD TV and it looked beautiful. The only difference between my tv and this monitor is that this monitor is only 60 Hz and its 10,000 less on the contrast ratio.
I originally thought that the hertz had nothing to do with the color, but now I'm not sure.
Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, how did you remedy the situation?

Refresh rate has nothing at all to do with color quality.
Change the Xbox's color profile in its console settings, and on the monitor, make sure the contrast isn't turned up too high. You can also try reducing the brightness a bit. A lot of monitors have extremely powerful backlights that will lead to color being washed out.
Is there a way to turn the backlight down just for the xbox? or would I have to do it every time I wanted to switch over?
Depends on your monitor. Some (I'm not sure about yours) keep brightness/contrast settings per-input, so that might work for you, so long as you aren't running your Xbox through a switch.
I'm running my Xbox on that exact monitor, If you go to "My Xbox > System Settings > Console Settings > Display > Reference Levels" and Choose "Expanded". It should make everything look acceptable. Hope that helps.

Oh wow, thanks for this.
I always thought my 360 looked a bit washed out on my monitor too, but thought it was just because I couldnt get a decent contrast setting, this makes it look brilliant!

Holy fuck, it's like the Xbox had a built-in "make it look awesome" button...that comes turned off by default?
I'm sure there are monitors that don't support it, and that's why, but damn...it looks a ton better on both my 24" monitor and my 37" TV.
Basically, this thread was the PA Forum's Christmas present to me.
