I wonder if it's possible to get every romance option in the sack without any of them figuring out what you're up to until IT'S TOO LATE AND YOU'RE THE COOLEST
So I'm in the same boat as an earlier poster in that I'm about to start the game on the 360. What should I know before going in?
Hopefully I'll be able to manage the game's controls on console better than the reviewers who bashed the game. Part of me I feel is more forgiving about certain things.
I'll probably start off with a human warrior because I'm a boring guy at heart. Which weapon setup leads to the most awesome kills/combat animation?

I know you can't as a female character since two of the romance options need to have their approval high enough that they all conflict with eachother.
Zevran's easy enough that you can do him really early on in the approval game and no one cares.

The mechanics sound standard and intuitive. I mean which one has your preferred 'kill a motherfucker' animation set?
If you don't have a preference than this morbid question isn't for you.
I have a feeling that the two handed weapon's inadequecies functionally are made up for with brutal bloody death.

I haven't used a 2 handed weapon, I've only done sword and board and dual weapon. Sword and Board is boring. Like, really boring. Unless you like walking into combat, activating a few sustained skills and taking hits. Dual weapon is great for running around combat and annihilating people. I've read 2 handed weapons are great once you start getting things like salve of swiftness, but early on it's going to be slow and boring.

You're really not going to notice the animations after a while, in a hectic fight you're going to be quickly swapping through characters to fire off abilities.

Actually, two-handed style has the best finishers in my opinion.
There's the behind-the-back impale.
There's the massive decapitation.
There's the gigantic golf swing of death.
Dual weapon has some nice ones too, but the only one that really stands out for me is impale with one weapon, spin and cut head off with the other weapon.

Alistair uses two handers right? So I could get the best of both worlds like this...
I'll probably run into an elf who can dual wield at some point. Too bad there's no multiplayer, I know my nephew would be a dual wielding fool constantly looking for potions.

Alistair is sword and shield.
I find the sword and shield finishers to be a lot more brutal than the others since they often end with the enemy getting punched in the face with a shield.

Uh oh. This vexes me. I'm terribly vexed.
I'll FORCE Alistair to use a big sword... or or... the dwarf!
My problem with 2-hs finishers is that the golf swing is pretty indistinguishable from a normal attack and the backwards stab is actually kinda silly. Beheading is always good, though.

You don't need two warriors in your party anyway. In fact, it's not very optimal to have two warriors.

I could never be a two-hander warrior just because of the animations. They're just ridiculous. The actual size of the two-handers, so that doesn't help either.

Well, most any party can work. But since you only have a four person party this time around, having redundant roles that don't involve mages are usually a waste.

I have a feeling that Loghain, in regards to Howe...
Was working with Howe so that he could have a weasel perform dirty work for him, then probably planned to sell him out or bring charges against him later on down the road and deny any prior affiliation with him. He kind of does so at the Landsmeet when you out Howe for imprisoning and torturing the templar when he says that "Howe was a grown man who made his own choices" and leaves it at that.
Maybe I was just being hopeful
but when I spared Loghain , I like to think he was planning on killing Howe down the line. Especially with his quasi-disgusted look on his face when Howe brings in the Crows.

Warrior, Mage, Healer, Rogue. WOOOO!
I run 2 warriors (tank which is either Alistair on sword and board or Shale), my warrior as a dual weapon warrior, a healer (Wynne) and Rogue/Archer (Leliana). I don't have trouble really aside from Alistair sucking at tanking (I need to pump his constitution up) and mages. But mages fuck everyone up, so I get Leliana to kill the most prominent mage immediately.
I just picked this up tonight, probably going to start playing tomorrow night.
Is it more fun to have your main character as a warrior or a rogue?
Or does it not matter since you play all the characters anyway?
I definitely want one of my playthroughs to be as a Dwarven warrior, just trying to figure out if I should do it first or second.
You hit it spot on - you play all of the characters anyway. Just make your character what you want, there will be an NPC for you to use that covers one of the other classes to try out. If you like it, I dunno, do a second playthrough? I already have 2 more playthroughs planned (city elf rogue and some kind of mage).
Just don't play as an Arcane Warrior your first time through, I agree with other it isn't the most exciting path.
This I don't really want to play my mage any more because I was hoping Arcane warrior would be fun.
I love the concept to death, to death but to me at least its spend mana click toggles auto attack!
So I've started a Dwarf Warrior and I may do a all Templer run just because.
Well they aren't bad, I like them in concept also. Its just I definitely find myself switching between characters more with that character than I do my others.
In my experience though, Archery is really boring . More boring than Arcane Warrior. Actually my Rogue Archer is a bit more fun than my Warrior archer for some reason..
edit: Oddly I'm at level 8 or so with my AW and he is basically my tank. Its really weird.... Hes like the energizer bunny but he doesn't do much.
And just FYI for new players, Elves look horrid in the heavier Armor. I was saddened.
I'm glad that I completely broke my own habits and chose to be a sword-and-shield berserking champion Dwarf Warrior for my first playthrough. It was both fun and fresh!
Is there no official download for the patch? Why is this thing so hard to find?
oh and the bioware social site thinks i'm german, even though I have selected english and cleared my cache like 10 times now.
It also thinks i'm german on other computers. what the hell?
ugh, nevermind. I found it and the language changer that ignores your language selection when entering the site.
the bioware social site is terrible.
Do DA elves suck like 99% of the elves in other fantasy settings?
Or are they worthwhile?
I'm sure the elf companion does more than his fair share of sucking, if you know what I mean :winky:
But really, you get him kind of late, so his skill distributions are sub-par, but still better than the complete waste that Leliana has with all her worthless archery

I was saddened.
oh and the bioware social site thinks i'm german, even though I have selected english and cleared my cache like 10 times now.
It also thinks i'm german on other computers. what the hell?
ugh, nevermind. I found it and the language changer that ignores your language selection when entering the site.
the bioware social site is terrible.
Start up a city elf *or better, a female city elf* and see what you get.
