Well it certainly won't stop people from using it.
I have seriously seen someone use [may] [bee] when trying to speak to a japanese person.

Yup but it seems it will also include crafting/gathering jobs as well. Basically switching out your weapon/tool will change what you are it would seem.

At least that's what I could gather from what info we could get. Time will tell.

I like the idea of being able to access different playstyles without making a new alt for each. A more flexible version of FFXI's job system sounds great, at least in principle.

Regardless of newfound flexibility, I'm mostly just hyped to get a fresh start on something like FFXI. I'd get back in there, but the cap's going up to 99 and I don't think starting up now is remotely possible. I'm looking toward that "brave new world" scenario and going at it with the rest of the player base on equal footing.

with out a doubt im right there with you man, im a 75 sam on ffxi and i cant wait to start over in something where i can be on a level playing field where every quest is new to most everyone. where there isnt a guide for every little part of the game :P, you're "brave new world" so to speak.

If they are they can't say so. Apparently that is breaking the NDA. That being said you CAN say if you AREN'T in the beta.

    I'm not in the Beta.

    And it saddens me.

I want everyone who signed up for beta to post here. I want you just to post how much you want to play the beta. If you are not in the beta (yet?) tell us that too.

That should take care of things. Also, I am sad :( at NDA. It's frustrating.

I signed up, And words cannot express how much I want to play this beta. The only thing that took me away from FFXI was the false promise of WoW. (Ok so maybe not false because I did play it for a loooong time)

BUT! Were it not for that horrible false prophet of Blizzard, I would most likely still be playing FFXI today. (Ok technically I AM still playing FFXI today but I wouldn't have taken a break to play WoW for 3-4 years).

Basically, I really want to play. But as much as I know the world will be amazing (because honestly I don't think there is any doubt there) I am more curious about the systems in place and want to take part in helping to make those systems something amazing that everyone will enjoy by testing them and providing feedback and suggestions. (Granted I don't know how much they listen to individual suggestions but you never know)

Oh, and as stated before. I'm not in the beta.
    *sob*

*edit* Also is it bad that I check my email about a total of 10 times a day on the off-chance they sent out another wave of invites?

Why would that matter? It's all tied to you SquareEnix account. I personally haven't heard anything saying that FFXIII registration has any bearing on beta but The fact that they are on different platforms wouldn't matter.

Besides FFXIV is also being released on the PS3 even if the beta is currently windows.

Preordered 13 for ps3, registered it and got a code for FFXIV ingame item and ps3 beta test chance.
How to Use the Promotional Code

There are two uses for the FINAL FANTASY XIV promotional code.

    1. Receive a FINAL FANTASY XIV Secret In-Game Item!
After the official launch of FINAL FANTASY XIV in 2010, you will receive a secret in-game item* by registering the promotional code at the beginning of FINAL FANTASY XIV.
*Details on the secret item will be revealed at a later date on SQUARE ENIX MEMBERS and the official FINAL FANTASY XIV website.

Enter for a potential opportunity to become a beta tester for FINAL FANTASY XIV for PlayStation 3!
The promotional code also allows you to apply now for a potential opportunity to become a beta tester for FINAL FANTASY XIV for PlayStation 3. Click the link that appears below the FINAL FNATASY XIV promotional code and enter using the official beta tester application form.

    Hey fellas,

After recently registering another final fantasy game, I jumped through some hoops and was finally rewarded with a promo code to opt-in to the ps3 version of the FFXIV beta.

Honestly I don't have much desire to do this, but I figured one of you all might; I took the liberty to copy/paste the code (and the link to said opt-in) in case one of my fellow forumers might be interested. send me a PM and I'll re-copy/paste the aforementioned whatnots to you.
