Name of a TV show about time travel.

I'm trying to remember the name of this show that involved time travel and it is killing me. I remember the protagonist, a blond teen, finds part of a strange device. This turns out to be a piece of a weapon developed in the future (I want to say 25th century?) and there are people looking for it: a white haired professor with a time machine and little troll creature who's hair shines whenever it's near one of the parts, and a bad guy in a mecha suit. I also remember the bad guy was black, and I thought that was unusual at the time. Anyway, the boy joins up with the prof and they search time for the missing pieces.

Anyone has even the slightest idea what's the name of this show?

    Holy Hell. The only reason I even remember this is 1) "Kirby?...Like, the Nintendo character?" and 2) it had an attractive princess taking a bath. I was 12.
