After 52 levels I could use a change of scenery... by 60 I'm sure I'll be aching for something new. All the same I won't vet to another faction until a significant number of Merchenaries are ready to do so.
Also Litany-, many apologies for not getting back to you regarding the squad. I got booted from the network in the middle of the game (though not PSN oddly enough).
I just noticed that Khaczor appeared under my friends in the community section with a Raven tag next to his name. Interestingly enough I also had the option to join Khaczor's game, an option I seriously considered just to see if I could take him :P
Khaczor's betrayal stings me every time I open up the Community tab and see the Raven symbol.

Lvl 55 at the moment and hopefully will reach 60 at some point and veteran over to raven with you all. Also lag and random disconnects has forced me to pick up defense grid the awakening and bioshock 2 for PS3.
I'm in the mid 50s right now on Raven, planning on switching to Valor when I get the chance. Is anybody else here on that team?
Hope you're not avoiding us :P
Seriously though I'm sure there are some who would prefer to vet Valor. Myself I'll go where the majority goes; to another faction, to a cooling tower, off a cliff, whatever is cool. At this point I've decided that I'll vet through the other factions until I get back to SVER. If the enhanced armor for the other factions doesn't get released before I switch I'm gonna be kinda disappointed.
On another (MAG) topic:
Remember when Sabo was hectic as all hell and just keeping up was stressful? Try playing it after level 50... it's borderline boring.
EDIT: Here's an idea for making Sabo interesting; Defense can call in UAVs until A and B fall, Offense can call in air strikes after A and B fall...
I don't think I've ever seen Raven protect C for more than 5 minutes, I don't think they'd like that idea :P
Back in Beta, while playing Raven, we held C on a few occasions for most of the game, because A and B fell in the first 5 min. Don't ask me how, it just happened some times.
Last few times I went against Raven in Sabo on their map we lost, and lost hard. Probably drop outs on our side though.
I don't think I've ever seen Raven protect C for more than 5 minutes, I don't think they'd like that idea :P
Good point. I was really only thinking of SVER's map, where the defensive advantage seems to be very high. My thought was, if you can take A and B on SVER's Sabo map you deserve something. My idea would probably make the defense of the other Sabo maps almost impossible. Oh well...
I tried a Raven SMG, I was... disappointed with it. Anxious to try it again I switched to my alt account (which I haven't used since before the patch) and respeced to give the little gun a second chance. Why did Zipper see fit to nerf the SMG so much? Why doesn't the F90 (the afore mentioned Raven SMG) just get an integrated Reflex sight? The "iron sights" are really just a Reflex sight anyway and the accuracy is so bad either way I don't think there's much difference. I also noted that the F90's description states that it trades stopping power for armor penetration. Is armor penetration an actual stat (not listed on the weapon stats but in the background) or just fluff?
The "F90" is actually a P90 (likely renamed due to licensing issues), which in 'real life' was designed to combat body armor. The description is fluff, or it's reflected in the damage it does.
It's actually my favourite SMG - it's Rate of Fire is so high that charging an enemy is likely to generate enough timely hits to seriously wound or kill him as he's trying to aim back. The role of the SMG really is from-the-hip close quarters, where it's clip size plus speed of those bullets combine to give it's advantage. I actually think the Viperia-2 is the worst of the SMGs, as it seems to have the largest spread from-the-hip.
I really like the term "snack" for Sabotage. Perfect simplicity and straight to the point.

I keep thinking...what will the DLC be like for this. Think they'll add a big content patch this year? Or is SOCOM 4 going to take up most of Zipper's time?
I wonder if they will open up new regions or possibly new factions (which I think is less likely). I just can't see them banking the game's long term success on such a small number of maps.

I'd really like to see all of the above. I agree that MAG's long term prospects seem rather limited with the current content. Maps, skills, weapons, and armor would all be very welcome IMHO. A 4th faction would be awesome though I must agree it seems unlikely.

While they claim to still be dedicated to MAG, this seems like it could bode poorly for its future.
What are you considering "DLC"? Free or Purchased content?
I can't see maps or gametypes being added as paid additions as they'll fracture the userbase. MAG requires too many people to have people unable to play any [additional] optional mode.
I guess it depends on how much you think they'll give you for free.

I suppose time will tell how or if Zipper will support MAG with DLC. I'd be shocked if we don't get anything but that sort of thing can (and does) happen. I've noticed that the side-arms have a "sight" slot available... Taking that as any kind of hint is rather naive I suppose.
EDIT: I consider DLC purchased content. I'd be worried about the userbase becoming fractured but I figure in the case of maps\modes Zipper would just assume that enough people would pony up the cash that there would still be enough players. Squads would simply be split up if certain members lacked the content. I'd honestly be amazed if any DLC for MAG was free outside of patches\updates. I'd also be willing to bet that we'll see more skills, weapons, and armor before we'll see new levels, in which case there would be no risk of fracture.

By the way... there are a lot of Europeans on Raven. I run into people who barely speak English about 1 out of every 3 games. It's French/Hungarian/Russian/German/etc.. Everyone is cool though. As long as you understand medic and bunker you'll be fine. Also some French guy kept asking me questions about where I lived and stuff this one time and he was hilarious.
Sorry about bailing on you camtis. My PS3 hard locked when entering that game so I took that as a cue to get some sleep. I think every time I try to join a game in progress while in a group it crashes my console.
Oh and no more sniper rifles!
...
Until I decide to try for the combat sniper ribbon....curses.
Wow Raven went and got their act together. I watched a Domination match go to hell in no time flat (we were defending no less!). The Raven forces were not just organized, the individual members were skilled. I also lost a couple of Acquisition matches; Raven forces kept pressure on the bunkers and managed to blow the AAA early in one match. In another a couple of Ravens managed to use grenade launchers to great effect, making my life very difficult. In both cases we were defending. At what point do SVER players get to call Raven overpowered? :P
You're behind the times! I've been calling Raven overpowered since the patch hit.
While I don't have any hard data to back up my gut feeling and experiences, it seems like their guns are substantially better than SVER's nowadays.
Or it could just be sour grapes, either way.
I think the biggest difference between playing Raven now at 53 and when I first veteraned over is that the Raven players seem to be getting better. They understand that we don't need an all sniper squad, they go for the bunkers first if you frago them, they listen to orders most of the time, and they don't drive the APC right up to the gates 100% of the time anymore.

Whatever limited quality of pubs SVER has had is dwindling pretty quickly, combined with Raven getting better, and the result is that even if our own bunker is an invulnerable wall of lead, it doesn't bloody well matter when they can just walk around us because every other bunker is down and their squads are a billion miles away sniping.
We had a game the other night with four PA'ers, and four pubs. All the PA'ers had over 300 exp partway through the match, and the other four had less than a hundred.
One of them had six experience all the way to the end of the match.
How he accomplished this feat still mystifies me.
At least we can still bully Valor around for the most part.
I'd been tempted by this for a little while and just picked it up. Its updating now and hopefully I'll shoot those terrible other guys in the face in cooperation with several of you in the near future
Hey my bad for abruptly leaving earlier, roommate and bf got home and they are noisy enough that trying to play this game right just wasn't happening, also for whatever reason I felt like I was never with the rest of the squad on the valor dom map, even when trying to change spawn to whatever was closest
Wooo combat melee ribbon! It'll never happen again (let alone another 2 times) but wooo none-the-less!
Shotgun + Kurtis + Extended Reach + Motion Sensor is so very very good on defense.
Am I the only one has his mic just stop working mid game? It comes back once the game ends (sometimes earlier) but quite annoying.
I am still surprised by the number of people on Raven who run around on domination with neither a medkit nor a repair kit.
I'm the SVER version of this unfortunately. I know it's rather selfish but I often snag a fair number of kills, I figure killing people and breaking things is my contribution to the squad. That said I'm seriously considering going with a shotgun medic setup.
Perhaps in light of this I should ask the other Merchenaries; am I failing to pull my weight by not having a repair or medic setup?

No no non. Every squad needs a good assault man and you fit it perfectly Klat. You always do really well on kill death ratio and assaulting objectives. Shotguns are really shitty nowadays anyway and if you are playing with PA its worth it for you to be a point man instead of another medic.
The filthy Raven is trying to trick you Klat, don't listen to him! :P
When I was working on the sniper trophy I ended up running with no med kit. I didn't even have points in the tree, save for one. On defense if the bunkers started to fall I switched to a LMG / repair kit so improved repair was in my profile. I felt very naked without my med kit but at least I could help the squad when the silly goose hit the fan.
It all boils down to play-style of course but I know I get frustrated when I see only 2 people in the squad with a cross and I'm one of them. Of course if you play primarily with PA folk this generally isn't a problem.
Wow thanks guys! As long as I'm of use I'm happy. My loadouts always include a 1st aid kit (I'm constantly healing myself) but oftentimes the added cost of a medkit is just too much (darn Rapid Assault weapons are expensive). I generally see myself as the brawler in any given group and I try be the first to fight.
I tried Raven's MMG today and I must say it's an impressive weapon. The one I was using had a Reflex sight and fore-grip but I lack any MG skills at the moment, it still worked exceptionally well.
If there is a kind and benevolent deity out there Zipper will make the enhanced armor available as DLC before we try another faction.
I'd been tempted by this for a little while and just picked it up. Its updating now and hopefully I'll shoot those terrible other guys in the face in cooperation with several of you in the near future
A couple have moved over to differing factions. We've had a lot of talk going 'round about completely switching over once enough people have hit sixty and are willing to do so. We're currently standing pat on SVER for the time being, but it's anyone's guess as to when enough will be enough.
And Klat? I'm totally with the traitor. With the more PA guys in a game, the less you need to be carrying either kit. So, do you play with enough PA guys to justify your selfish, selfish ways? :P
I never, ever leave home without a medkit and slot five is dedicated to having both the repair and the medkit equipped. But I repair a lot and being able to revive the other engy foolish enough to stand [what he doesn't realize is] in front of me is worth it's CC in gold.

Well it's nice to hear for once that the greener grass is actualy shit brown.
