but you don't need to kill someone four times without dying to dominate!

you just need to kill them four times without them killing you!

    I suck at TF2.
    Big time.
Like, I consistently have way more deaths than kills.
    As a Heavy.

    What's wrong?!
Is there something I'm missing here.

Did you just start playing? If so, heavy is gonna be a little screwed while demoman and soldier numbers remain high.

Also, stay back with a medic. In general the heavies slow speed makes him susseptable(sp?) to the faster moving classes when hes on his own in the open.

    And again get a medic.

e: or try playing as something easy to get the hang of (soldier) or something team based (medic) to learn the ropes.

    remember you're defensive, not offensive

    Unless you're ubered.

Or you know you've got the drop on them as you round a corner. There's nothing quite as terrifying as a heavy at near-point-blank.

ESPECIALLY if he's got a medic.

well this is all on-your-own advice for the current soldier-demo situation

having a medic changes things significantly

Even with the current soldier-demo situation, a Heavy is very terrifying, and depending on the opposing team makeup, even MORE terrifying

Know what that fancy Targe doesn't protect against?

That's right, two hundred dollar custom tooled cartridges at ten thousand rounds per minute. Nothing stops a charge like a Heavy on the receiving end of it.

NOW, you have to be on the lookout for DH soldiers, but good use of cover should protect you most of the time. Or not, and you die. But soldiers have always been good at killing Heavies.

Well its fine and dandy to go on the offensive, as long as you flank them in some way

A heavy attacking from behind ruins little men

it's pretty remarkable how well this game integrates a team though

like if this were straight every-man for himself deathmatch I would get my ass handed to me but as part of a team I can focus on defending a point or indirectly helping my team in various ways without exposing my retarded ways too much

it's probably the best fps I've ever played

or the one I've enjoyed the most, anyway

you're everyone's first target, really, being that you are slow and the size of a bus

but I figure if I'm gonna get shot all the time anyway I might as well play somebody who can take it for a bit longer

How viable is a boxing heavy that runs around punching babies? This is something I would like to do whenever I get the KGB

punching seems hells of situational to me, but if you can get the drop on a couple of people with the kgb and then bring up your minigun real fast it seems like you could do some real nasty business

it pretty difficult to make dedicated punching heavy work out most of the time, even if you get a friend to medic you and only you. you have to be on a pretty terrible server

now, dedicated ubersaw medic, on the other hand

as long as you're doing that with a friend it basically always works, so long as the other team doesn't have too many engineers (or competent pyros)

Nerdgasmic, play late night TF2 with us sometime. Me, WeX Majors, Buttcleft, and a few others just pick a server and dick around for a few hours doing whatever. Heavy boxing matches are not uncommon.

people of honour will see a boxing heavy coming towards them and pull out their melee weapon out of respect

the heavy will still beat them into next week, but if they are true men they will take death rather than dishonour
