Unlike most MMO launches, when the GA servers are up, they are butter smooth.
Actually the thread might be misrepresenting it slightly.
They crashed a lot yesterday due to automated mail spam, and most restarts since then have been patch related to fix the problems.
I figured that was the case, which is why i took my time and picked it up today, i figured i wouldn't get to play much yesterday anyhow. Though today is also my birthday (GA ended up being a bday present, which was nice.) so i dont know how much i will get to play today either.
We're doing payload and have run out of time, we're literally only still in the game so long as we have people on the cart. It's a fucking nail biter and we're only feet from the finish.

The helmet thing is turned off right now. The helmet dispensing is what caused the server crashes last night. Stew said that everyone who's supposed to get one will get one by Monday.
I cannot play a medic in this game in public matches.
Unlike medics and healers in other games, medics in GA are not "game changers". They are team multipliers. Meaning that if your team sucks, there is nothing a medic is going to be able to do to improve the team. If your team is incredible, you will dominate.
I contrast this with TF2 where, even if you have horrible heavies, for example, a medic can turn one into a godless marauding killing machine to break a siege wall almost at will.
If you are playing a scramble and everyone is too chickenshit to get on the control point, being able to heal means nothing.
So what does our agency need more of? Because i cant think of what i want to make, i like all of them...though probly not recon as it sounds like everyone is a recon.

Yeah, I think this is part of what's driving me to assault. I imagine it'll change once I'm playing with the agency.
I finally had the chance to play some rounds as assault with a medic buddy. We stuck together like best friends and dominated for hours. Needless to say, it was the most fun I've had in quite a while!
I have the most infuriating screenshot to post later on when I reboot back into windows.
It will make each and everyone of you foam at the mouth.
Preview summary:
I was in a public match Scramble and we were rolled, and when I say rolled, I mean we scored maybe 1000 objective points cumulatively as a team.
Through this whole match I saw 0 robotics on our team doing anything. Literally.
Eventually, as the match is ending, I respawn, hang a left, and I stumble across an AUTO CANNON TURRET NEST on the ledge of our own spawn, well out of range of any theoretical objective point ever. They are placed next to each other, facing in opposite directions (one of which is directly facing the wall). And of course there are also two med stations, and zero players in sight, including the robotics who made it.
So, not only were our robotics retarded, they colluded to do the most retarded thing possible.

I think Ima call it a night, managed to get medic to 10 and assault is all I have left and he is like 8 or so, spent most the day farming cash/mats on my main robotics guy. I haven't liked a game this much in a long ass time like since I was inyo WoW in my deepest point. I can see that I will be obsessing over this game for months once I get a taste of new/cooler gear and upgrades!
I'm finding myself quite torn about which class to play. I've leveled both Assault and Recon to 10. While I find infiltration quite exciting, I'm definitely more effective as a tank.
For the Alliance tax, the owning agency will be charged a fee daily (at midnight GMT) for each player in the alliance. The fee is equal 2 x (# of Players in Alliance) x (# of Players in Alliance).
We've got 91 people in our alliance. We'll be paying 16562 credits daily. Yes, there aren't many money sinks in the game. Yes, we have enough people that we can cover that without too much trouble. But 115k a week isn't nothing.
Are the other agencies even going to be helping out most nights with AvA? At the very least, could we have them help pay the tax? Grouping with 3 groups of 12-16 people doesn't seem worth the money we'd save if we weren't in an alliance, otherwise.
Mandalorian raises a good point and opens the floodgates to many questions I'm not sure there are answers to yet, but there are things I've been wondering about. Is this the appropriate forum for those discussions? I guess at the root of it is, do we have a plan or at least some expectations? It's still early on and no one's sure about anything but someone's actually considering the greater picture, right?
We should really bump up the tax rate to something like 25%, as there's not much you can do with your money at this low a level. It's all cosmetic stuff anyway and we need to cash for AvA pretty bad

Let's see if I have flair yet.
Edit: Are the EMP grenades much use?
EMP grenades are the best.
Also, I want my God damn helmet. There aren't any other requirements other than starting the game are there?

Also: they reduce the protection of turrets to zero.
EMP grenade + wait + TREMORSPAM = any number of dead turrets.

More smexy screenshots could very well convince me to buy it right quick. :winky:

Also, anyone online at the moment who can invite?

if I recall, in the beta we had plenty of money with the 1% tax.
If 5% tax doesn't cover everything, something is wrong.
