The other agencies are definitely going to be helping us with the alliance tax. We MAY have to do a 20% tax for a short period of time, but credits will stockpile so fast it will hardly have to be permanent.
Is my understanding correct that the early start stuff is ending today around 5 est and the official launch won't start till noon on Monday? Do you think they'll shut everything down for tonight or will it kinda be like in the last beta where they had posted play times but just ended up running around the clock except for server resets?

I don't know. They will probably take the servers down to reset peoples levels to 10 if they overlevelled and hand out the rest of the pre-purchase items.
We could always do what one of my WoW guilds did: Happy Hour, in the form of spending an hour doing daily quests and donating the profits to the guild bank.
Or, in this case, set tax to 100% for an hour and go shoot some mans.
Anyone have any good optimization advice or links? I can't really abide trying to shoot mans through choppy framerate, especially after plugging through ME2 on high like butter.
Huh. I'm actually doing pretty good as a recon versus this random PVP rabble.
Any advice? I've been trying to maintain a habit of sniping turrets (not easy when the robotic is standing behind said turret and repairing it) and firebombing clusters of enemies (this usually gets me seen and murdered).
I'm rather unimpressed by the fire bomb, even at rank 4 - you really need some coordinated bombing to make good use of it. If you just run in and drop it on a point everyone just backs off until it blows and then back in again.
Mines 4 are nice - they do close to 1k damage. Great fun when you find the enemy beacon and drop all your mines on it!
I'm going to buy this now. It will take some time to download I suppose.
Guns of Unusual Size gooooooo!
Assault all up in.
Unless I don't like Assault.
I rolled an assault, they are really fun if your team supports you in the front lines. If your medic is a retard and doesn't heal (Seriously, many dont.) than it can kind of suck. Or if you end up on pub team that is 70% recons and you're the only assault pushing forward you can end up dead a lot.
To kill a Robo's turret, you gotta shoot their medbrick, THEN them, THEN the turret. It's rather involved, unfortunately, and gets difficult if they're quick enough on the draw to repair their brick, in which case you gotta start just rotating around shooting everything until they don't respond fast enough (shoot the turret and blow up the brick while they're busy repairing it).
Mines are fuckawesome. Sticky poison mines are horribly disappointing. Stacking mines does not work, as they apparently blow each other up. You will, however, randomly have a mine do its damage twice, instantly killing people.
Bombs really are just for making people scatter (especially the Graviton Bomb, which does it one way or the other). If everybody's on a point, however, that's damn effective. It's also damn effective if you have time to drop some mines on the obvious points of exit.
Hmm I suppose I'll focus on sniping and save firebombs for dramatic escapes.
A shame. I love infiltration, but it seems more like suicide right now.
It often is suicide, but it's extremely productive suicide. You'll have a lot of deaths, but if you play it right you'll be a vital part of the team and pretty damn destructive to boot.

You keep saying that as if it'll make it true. There's still no use for a melee recon.

Keep telling yourself that. I've been a valuable part of too many victories to think you're right.

yeaaah...don't do that. Waste of your other two mines.
Put one mine on the beacon, then place the other two on paths leading away from it, or to guard a turret or something. Your mines suffer from FF from your other mines, so clustering them will waste the second and third entirely.
e:
As a bomber you could be nuking defensive position/mining the enemy's routes to important locations, slowing them down and giving your team the advantage. As a sniper you could be helping to clear nests from long distance, and picking off minigun assaults who are shooting at your team.
As a melee recon you are running around killing robotics or explosive assaults who for some reason are by themselves, and probably not a real threat. Anything else is either just going to avoid you(other recons), or destroy you(minigun assault, medics).

Since obviously, being part of a mega alliance but not being subscribed doesn't exactly further the cause that they are trying to discourage.
Unsure but I think they'll probably shut it down.

Assuming that's what we got with 1% tax, 5% should be well enough.
If you want an invite into the guild you should do what the rest of us do and read the thread.
Barring that, adding Kibbles or FA to your Steam Friends and pestering them are high percentage methods.
Whoever claims this thread in 27 pages will hopefully have a higher tolerance for mundane thread updates.
Most of it is probably from random donations. Either way, I think we'll be alright. There just isn't much else to spend money on.

Actually had fun and decent success as Recon. Barely played it in beta.
Any advice? I've been trying to maintain a habit of sniping turrets (not easy when the robotic is standing behind said turret and repairing it) and firebombing clusters of enemies (this usually gets me seen and murdered).
Also, Mines 4 is your friend. Protect your sniper nest with mines.
Does that other sniper rifle that debuffs healing work on turrets too? If so: woah.
A shame. I love infiltration, but it seems more like suicide right now.

Servers came down at 5, not back up till live launch tomorrow at 12. All of this in the real world, which I like to call the eastern time zone.
Oh boo. That means I'm downloading a game I can't play.
Is that 12 midnight or 12 noon.

The policy is yeah, sure.

Sorry Hiro, melee recons aren't good anymore.
