With or without the Thief Ring, just run past it and onto the wooden walkway. Just be aware of the giant mosquitoes afterward. Those dudes will fuck you up royal.
I'm trying to get around to the ramp up to the slug nest, not just get around it. It looked like a narrow enough distance that a thief ring wouldn't be enough to stop me from being noticed.
That island in 5-2 with the 2 Giant Goblin's and the Shaman can seriously choke on a dick.
Seriously.
Somewhat cheese way below:
Use the thief ring and snipe from a distance (think all the way zoomed) with a bow. Hit one big one and move back slowly. The active one will run around and thrash around for a bit and then move back to where he was. Shoot him again. Repeat until dead. Note, when they get low on health they often move out a farther distance to look for you. But even if one does come after you at that point one hit from something should take it out at that level of health.
Also there's an even "better" island with 3 Giant's all together. Can also be cheesed.
Yeah trying to fight against the 3 Giants on that island legit is really hard. I haven't been able to do it solo. But I was able to do it with the help of a blue phantom.
I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.
So, having beat the game 3 or so times, would it help if I were to youtube some videos with some strategies? I was thinking about doing this, might be a fun little project.
legit, melee strategies, as that's where a lot of folks seem to struggle.
The creator of Demon's Souls made Game Informer's list of the Top Ten Villains of 2009. His picture was just a screenshot of the 5-2 swamp. Couldn't agree more!

Anyone done a let's play of this yet? I imagine that it would be very very popular.

Ahahaha, that's freaking great!
Seriously. What the fuck. Whoever designed that swamp needs to be shot in the groin repeatedly.

With Awesome Darts. Man, I love how atmospheric the Swamps are. They really make you feel penned in and completely forsaken!
I thought 5-2 was an interesting challenge. The only thing that pissed me off about it was the nameless Meat Cleaver black phantom that could dodge roll in the swamp.
I just wish that hitting roll or dodge in the swamp would cause your character to do nothing instead of stagger. There were times when I was fighting on an island and got a bit too close to the water then bam, stagger + giant club = dead

Perfect. People complain about dying a hundred times in the tutorial, but you don't see the real difficulty until that swamp. It's the point where the game decides it's not just putting obstacles in front of you, but that it actively hates you and wants you to suffer.
Man, how I wish that this game was available for the 360. I can't believe how the 360 got pretty much every other title from From Software but not this one.

/shrug. That's why you own both. 2009 was a really shitty year for the 360 while the PS3 got great exclusive after outstanding exclusive after great exclusive.
A couple years back it was the opposite.

Word. Honestly there is enough overlap that you don't need to have both, but it is really really nice.

So I finally got my Large Sword of Moonlight. Holy shit is it awesome.
Armor-wise, what are the rest of you Faith-build people doing? I've been rocking Binded Cross armor for a little while now, and liking it alot, even if I'm more squishy than I remember being in my Mirdan. I just found the Dull Gold Armor, and have been thinking about trying it out, but I'm not sure if I'm gonna like that stamina regen reduction.

I've been using the Dull Gold Helmet (because it looks awesome) and fluted everything else. Oh, and the silver bracelets, you have to get those, I think they're in 3-1.
I can still roll because Istarelle weighs 1.00 and I've been pumping my end along with faith.

Oh yeah, I got the Silver Bracelets. I usually put them on when I'm going to go farming for souls in 4-2. I'll have to try out the Dull Gold, I'm just not sure how well it will work out considering both of my main weapons (Blessed Mirdan Hammer and Large Sword of Moonlight) chew through alot of stamina.
Oh god, fuck Maneater. Surely none of the other bosses are that hard, right? Right?
On a sidenote to the armor discussion, is there really any armor I should be going after for my Int/Magic caster build? I started as a Royal so I already have the Wizard set. I'd wear my sweet-looking Gloom set, but I don't think I've put a single point into endurance yet...
Ugh, I'm having a seriously tough time with the Giant Goblins in 5-2. If I don't wear the Cling Ring, they one shot me... if I do wear it, they just hit me again while I'm trying to get up and I die anyway.
The only thing I can think to do differently is take off a bunch of armor so I can roll quickly and pray to fuck I don't get hit.

The first one you can completely avoid wearing the thief ring.
The island of three of them you can pelt from above with arrows.

Yeah, I can usually kill that first one or avoid it. I'm talking about the pair standing with the Shaman. Also, I don't have a bow yet.

There's two. One at the end of 4-1 and another in the swamps of 5-2.

Thief ring around it. Only the Shaman will attack you.
Agree 100%.

This time around I'm gonna try and do Mephistopheles. That's one you want to do just before you finish.
