That's Jill Thompson, who did the art for Beasts of Burden, one of my favorite books of last year. Which means I need to pick up Girl Comics #2 if my comic shop has any in stock.
You can read the three short-stories that formed the background for Beasts of Burden for free at Dark Horse's website. Same writer (Evan Dorkin) and artist (Jill Thompson), so it'll give you a good idea of what you'll get from the four-issue mini.
Anyway, I've posted enough times here that I feel I should add my own awesome moment, though this one is more on the humorous side.
It's from Blue Beetle #14. For those not familiar with the Jaime Reyes Beetle, he gets his powers (and suit) from an alien "Scarab" that--for some reason--is violently afraid Green Lantern rings. That becomes kind of a problem when...well, you'll see:
That's right, Guy can even look intimidating while putting out a hair fire. And Jaime can spawn a jetpack whenever the hell he wants to.

I need to post the BBQ scene from Blue Beetle #25, where everyone hugs it out with Jamie.
But here are some more super-canine fun, from Krypto learning to be a good dog (if you remember from the last awesome moments thread, he nearly killed Mongul and had to stay at the Fortress of Solitude):

It's from Superboy #91 by Joe Kelly and Pascual Ferry.
It was done during Our Worlds at War, and while you see most of the Krypto stuff, there was also two other stories with Superboy and Guardian about what they saw during the war, and was much more poignant than say the JMS Spider-Man 9/11 story.

You are physically incapable of not doing that, aren't you
Just a quick question, is Krypto from Krypton, or is he a normal dog who got superpowers in some way? Same goes for Supergirl's horse (and therew as a cat too, wasn't there?)
It varies pre- and post-Crisis (and has been changed again since Johns got involved), but at the moment he is the El's family dog who was used as a 'Laika' to test a prototype of Kal's rocket.
The cat got powers from exposure to Kryptonite. The horse was, I shit you not, a transformed centaur. Beppo the Supermonkey was, like Krypto, from Krypton.
Those Blue Beetle scans look pretty good. I might have to dip my toe into the DC pool a bit more and get that. Is it a recent issue, or part of a trade yet?

All the Blue Beetle stuff is in trade now. The issue I posted would be in Volume 3. I can't remember the specific issue Htown's scans appear in, but I think they're in Volume 1 or 2.

To continue on the Blue Beetle Kaji Da-rjeeling limited, the last issue of John Rogers and Rafael Albuquerque's run:
Best single page in comic in a long time, mainly because of Milagro's admiration pose.

So some heroes blow up Stamford and everyone whines about it, but back in the day heroes would fight in the middle east and take over countries, and it was a jolly good time:

I'm not the hugest fan of the art, but the writing is pretty great.
in the double page spread they've coloured the union flag backwards. how on earth do you do that. it'd be like mixing the blue and the red on the stars and stripes.

Wow, CP Smith really changed his style since then. He's doing a much more inked up thing nowadays. Also? I love Blazing Skull. With Marvel pushing Deadpool so hard lately, someone should have brought him back, as their personalities are damn near identical.
Tex, post that scan where Blazing Skull is beating up Atlanteans and talking about how he needs some tartar sauce. Or however the Hell that exchange went.

Munch I posted that Blazing Skull scene in the old awesome moments thread which should be called the Blazing Skull thread of fun but I'll post it later ok? ok
I'll also post the scene where USAgent rides down with the team in a splash page on a missle ala Dr. Strangelove.
Invaders looks so good that I'm almost embarrassed to have never seen it until now.
Yep, it has a Reed Richard with a Frank Castle complex, two android human torches who are both better than Johnny (We've got original Human Torch and new chick who doesn't know why everyone acts weird when she's naked), our lovable jerkass Captain America knockoff (Walker), and a Deadpool that looks like Ghost Rider.
Union Jack and Spitfire are pretty cool too, and Namor shows up from time to time so he can punch people real hard, yell IMPERIOUS REX! and get stabbed by Wolverine.
Yeah, I've been meaning to pick something up that has US Agent as a main character. From what I understand he is like Captain America, except with actual powers and an "America, Fuck Yeah!!!" Attitude?

The way he got them is different from Cap, but it's basically the same peak of human strength, agility, and coordination type powers.

Yeah USAgent is basically someone from Reagan America who served in the army to honor his brother who died in Vietnam, gained the usual trifecta of enhanced human powers (speed, strength, stamina) from the Power Broker, then he became a corporate backed super-hero (kind of like Booster Gold, they showed up around the same time).
He beat up Captain America, Steve gave up the mantle so Walker took over (with his Bucky sidekick who is now Battle Star), and then became USAgent when Steve came back and was on the Avengers as a government backed hero (like Captain Atom was in the JLI...this is kind of weird how they sync up like this).
And then he was in Force Works, and then he became a Judge Dredd type meta-cop during Maximum Security, then he was in Invaders, and then Omega Flight and now Mighty Avengers/Thunderbolts.

I've always loved that scene. It is just made of complete win.

The best part is that the issue's title is Total Eclipso: The Heart
I have no response to this. Even after a night's sleep there is no response to this.

Hey, Hensler, your posts are witty and entertaining. Wow, TLB should model himself after you.
