Yeah, I've been meaning to pick something up that has US Agent as a main character. From what I understand he is like Captain America, except with actual powers and an "America, Fuck Yeah!!!" Attitude?
The way he got them is different from Cap, but it's basically the same peak of human strength, agility, and coordination type powers.
And yeah he's America Fuck Yeah all day.
Oh, cause his wiki said superhuman strength and stamina. He still sounds awesome though and I want to pick up that trade of their latest series.
Marvel galactic event where a bunch of alien races decide Earth sucks and designate it a prison and send all their fucked up convicts there.
That sounds pretty cool. Is it worth reading?
Not sure, I didn't read it. It was around the year 2000, they may not have shrugged off the stench of the late 90s when it comes to main continuity. But I'm biased against a lot of the main continuity stuff, so I might not be the best person to ask.
I remember being highly disappointed in Maximum Security. And I have never felt the urge to pull out my floppies to re-read it.

Maximum Security was actually pretty good, and for such a small event it was meatier than something like Secret Invasion. It came out around 2000 but I read it basically side by side with House of M in 2005 and thought it was much better, but it's more a comparison of Busiek writing Avengers vs. Bendis writing Avengers.
It was a 3-issue mini series written by Busiek and drawn by Ordway, so it's very old school but the premise works for incorporating Marvel Earth into the cosmic stuff. It also had one issue tie-ins with other series like ASM and X-Men, like dealing with Bishop coming back to Earth since he was hanging out with Deathbird at the time, and Professor X training mutant skrulls in Uncanny, but it was mainly Maximum Security and one issue of Avengers.
It is basically what Zampanov wrote, Earth becomes a jail for intergalactic use, and we don't really like that so USAgent kicks the crap out of Ronan the Accuser and Thor fights Ego the living planet.
It's ignored like a lot of Busiek's Avengers work but it's worth looking for, he even ties in a bit with Avengers Forever.

It's always fun when someone kicks Ronan's ass. Except when he's fighting other asshole Kree, in which case you get to root for Ronan cracking Kree skulls with his giant hammer.

No I left out some key parts on purpose, like that cool vampire arc and the Enemy of the State tie-in issue. Got to give them a taste so they can go buy the trade and then Marvel sees this big spike in demand and they offer reprints and then it comes back but they stupidly give it to Kathryn Immonen instead of Allan Jacobsen and Ed Brubaker makes Blazing Skull a bad guy for some reason because he doesn't care, he just doesn't care.
......Achem, but finally the part Munch wanted:
And this was a nice touch for the very last page from the creative team:
Flash Fact: New Invaders was the only comic I ever hand wrote a letter about asking to keep it around for at least 12 or 15 issues, saying that they gave Emma Frost 18 issues why not this team.
Wait, Transformers have goey bits inside? I thought they were all machine (before anybody gets all "how can you not know that," I was about two years old when that show was on TV).

IDW Transformers have oil and lubricant and stuff.

Because God hates good things, Texi. God hates good things.
Yeah, it's definitely not the worst art out of everything i've enjoyed reading. Plus some of the facial expressions are really well done. Walkers face when Blazing Skull asks for some lemon wedges. Priceless.

I liked the issues I managed to buy and read myself. I kinda wish they'd try a new series, especially since they bothered making a twelve-issue series involving the original team meeting the Avengers.
I thought the art was OK, not bad at all. Certainly nothing anyone couldn't overlook.
I really enjoy that thin-lined style, where depth and shadow are conveyed through the color more so than pencil or ink. Steve Uy has a similar style, and I recall him catching some shit during his fill-ins for Avengers: Initiative.
You're all terrible people. The most appealing part of those scans, and the reason I've ordered Invaders is the art.

The art really isn't that bad, it's not Stroman levels or anything.
It's unique like a buttercup, just like the book.

As mentioned in the MOTW thread, I found this 4 issue mini series at my LCS for $4, and 2 issues in it's actually pretty good! It seems to have taken place in 1993, going by the solicits for books and stuff (Thunderstrike #1 just came out, so that time roughly)
It's basically a Gruenwald story about Kang and Ravonna, a wanna be Kang chick, and an enemy of Kang's called Revelation who transports USAgent, Thunderstrike, and War Machine to the future to help her defeat Kang once and for all.
But the thing it, Ravonna has told Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man that Revelation is worse than Kang, so you basically have the old school vs the new, vastly superior school:
That's right, USAgent with 2 shields, no wonder Marvel is scared of him and cut an arm and leg off.
And that is basically how Civil War should have ended, a hero holds up a building from collapsing and everyone chills out for a second.
So far it's actually pretty good, a classic Gruenwald script, highlighting that USAgent, Thunderstrike, and War Machine aren't just inferior copies of the original trinity, and it has multiple Kang stuff.

I don't think Ben Reilly was around yet, he showed up in 1995? Because Onslaught was in 1996.
I'm confused.
edit: Thunderstrike's mallet is superior to Mjolnir, just sayin'

Ditto. I think i have the first issue somewhere, picked it up at a second hand store and then completely forgot to get the rest.

He made for a cool toy.
Ah. Makes sense then.
If I remember right he beat up Captain America for not being patriotic enough. And for not having enough stars on his costume.
