Around 1986-1987, this was what the Marvel A-Listers looked like:
Once they went back to their traditional costumes, it sort of made sense that 'dupes' would be created to fill the new costumes (I think they were even pushing Venom as an anti-hero by 92-93 with "Lethal Protector").

My LCS is basically giving up on back issues nowadays, they've had a 50 issue gap in the most recent Superboy series for over a year and never tried to replenish those issues.
That's why finding these on the bundle rack was such a treat. It was like they knew this mini was one of the money beats.
Mine has a tradition of never having the first or last issue of any mini/multi part story in back issues
If it's a 5 part, 1 and 5 will be missing.
Altho it's fun to fill a gap after like a year+ wait, especially when it a) goes completely different than you thought all this time and b) doesn't suck .

The worst part of 60's and 70's comics was the over use of exclamation points! Because they thought the printer would always make a period disappear so they needed something more visible! It's like Elaine Benes was working at the publishers back then!
Uhh, guys, you realize that's all from Spidey Super Stories, right?
The tie-in with the Electric Company that was written for five year olds?
The comic where Thanos flies around in a helicopter with THANOS on it?
The comic where Dr. Doom uses a magic mirror to make a Spider-Man clone called Web-Man?
I'll be honest it seemed like it could have been something Stan Lee or Roy Thomas wrote. Even David Micheline's Spidey work was abound with exclamation points and common sense exposition.

Now I want to own a helicopter with THANOS written on the side. Time to become rich. *pulls on bootstraps*

Hilarious blog post about Mary Jane.'s penchant for stating the obvious.

Moon rocks was probably slang back in the day for crack. Moon rocks, moonwalk, space jam, all makes sense.
Looks more like writer bashing than MJ bashing. Jesus that is terrible. But at least it's hilarious terrible (which is the best kind of terrible).

The comic that brought us Star Jaws
The comic that brought us The Thumper
The comic that brought us this
"The comic where Thanos flies around in a helicopter with THANOS on it?"
I really want to see a scan of that, that sounds awesome
( dunno why the quote wouldn't work, tried redoing it twice)
