PS3 Advice?

So G&T its looking like I'll be buying myself a spiffy new HDTV on boxing day. This means that my 360 will be revisited (possibly) and my PC will be running on a 40" screen. Joyous day.
However, every now and then I spot something on the PS3 which catches my eye. Demon's Souls is currently the biggest one. I can't seem to decide if it would be worth it to purchase a PS3, keep in mind that I'm not too interested in all this blu-ray player shenanigans and I'd like to be playing games.

So, what awesome PS3 exclusives can you think of that are totally worth checking out?

Further, if anyone knows while we're at it, what slick 360 exclusives are coming out in the near future? (I ask because if there aren't any i may just sell it)

Everyone loves Uncharted 2. And I hear Uncharted 1 is pretty much more of the same greatness, and it's only $30 now.

    Exclusives I recommend:
    -Ratchet & Clank series
    -Gran Turismo
-Metal Gear Solid 4 (rising is multi-platform)
    -Ninja Gaiden Sigma 1 & 2
    -LittleBigPlanet
    -God of War

I know God of War isn't out yet, but come on - we all know it will be the same as GoW 1&2 but on a grander scale. Same idea with Gran Turismo; regardless of how it turns out, it will be the PS3's exclusive driving sim that was in development for years and years and looks - I'm saying it - photorealistic.

Also, some people swear by Killzone 2. I personally feel like there are far better FPS's out there. Others like SOCOM, but with MW2's third person mode, I hear people are leaving SOCOM to play it instead because of bugs. MAG is coming out, but I haven't played the beta.

    -Heavy Rain

A few of those aren't out yet, and I must concede that I feel KZ2 and Resistance aren't the best FPS ever, although KZ2 did get some really high reviews...

Having just played through both in the past 2 weeks, Resistance 2 is much better than Killzone 2 for single player goodness. Not sure about online, but for the story mode Resistance 2 had better voice acting, better cut scenes, a better plot, way less cliches, and guns that were actually fun to use and occasionally innovative.

I'd probably skip Killzone 2, and add Resistance 2 and Infamous to that list. Infamous was one of the better games of the year for any system, let alone as a PS3 exclusive. Open-world play with super powers - what more could one ask for? heh

Brand new HDTV that you want to justify immediately?

Buy Uncharted 2 : Among Thieves.

    Uncharted 2
DEMON'S SOULS (must have if you love hardcore dungeon crawler RPG's)
MGS4 if you loved any of the MGS games

there's a bunch more, like LBP, KZ2 and so on, but the top 3 are excellent reasons to get a PS3.

These are the PS3 exclusives I'd highly recommend:
    Demon's Souls
    God of War Collection
    inFamous
    Killzone 2
    LittleBigPlanet
    Metal Gear Solid 4
Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction
Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time
    Uncharted
    Uncharted 2
    Valkyria Chronicles
    Wipeout HD (PSN)

As for the upcoming games, here's the ones I can remember for the PS3:
3D Dot Game Heroes - Another From Software game
    The Agency (also on PC)
Agent - Who knows when it'll come out or even if it'll stay exclusive
DC Universe Online (also on PC)
Final Fantasy XIV (also on PC) - Might not stay exclusive
Final Fantasy Versus XIII - See: Agent
    God of War 3
    Gran Turismo 5
    Heavy Rain
The Last Guardian - Release date is a little iffy, I'd guess late 2010 but who knows?
    MAG
    White Knight Chronicles
    Yakuza 3

    And on the 360:
    Alan Wake
    Crackdown 2
Fable 3 - Not sure when it's meant to come out
    Halo Reach
Mass Effect 2 (also on PC)
Splinter Cell: Conviction (also on PC) - Will probably be a timed exclusive

Microsoft's is obviously pretty small but their strategy all along has been to heavily rely on third parties. They'll probably announce Gears 3 early next year and a couple of Natal games from Rare as well.

Ketar: I wouldn't touch Resistance 2 with a ten yard pole.

The original Uncharted is still worth a look because it's a fantastic game on it's own. It's not as awesome as Uncharted 2, but 99% of games aren't.

Yakuza 3 is getting a western release in March which is a way off, but still.

Heavy Rain is worth a look into if just on the concept alone. It hits January, I believe.

    inFamous is sooooo good.

I really dug both Resistance games, and I don't normally go for FPSes. But I don't think they were -too- well liked on the boards (nor were they exactly hated on, aside from R2's changes over the original.) The first is worth a look at least, I'd say.

I love the hell out of LittleBigPlanet and with the water Kit just being released, it'll likely see a popularity boost, which means some quality levels might pop out to join the slew of other great user-generated levels. (To stand out from the miles of mediocre ones)

But pretty much everything else mentioned so far is still worth a mention too. (Even though I pretty much just echoed most of the posts.)

Ketar: I wouldn't touch Resistance 2 with a ten yard pole.

I literally played both all the way through for the first time within 72 hours of each other, and Resistance 2 blew Killzone 2 away in every facet (outside of possibly online play, as neither are sporting large and vibrant communities with which to really get a feel for online at this point, it would seem). But where Killzone was hot trash, er, hot cliched trash, Resistance 2 was engaging for an FPS with an enjoyable selection of weapons.

I wouldn't recommend either nearly as hard as the majority of other games being mentioned here, especially UC1 and UC2, Infamous, R&C games, and VC, but Resistance 2 is definitely a solid choice for a shooter, and the best PS3 exclusive shooter.

what awesome PS3 exclusives can you think of that are totally worth checking out?

    Valkyria Chronicles (demo) :^: :^: :^:

    inFamous (demo) :^: :^: :^:

Ratchet & Clank Future : Tools of Destruction (demo)

Ratchet & Clank Future : A Crack in Time (2 demos)

    Metal Gear Solid 4 (I think there's a demo)

Siren: Blood Curse (I've heard it doesn't look too hot on HDTVs, but I love it. It's got a demo.)

    Fower (no demo)

    Upcoming awesome:

Heavy Rain (there will be a demo)

God of War III (I expect there will be a demo)

3D Dot Game Heroes (I doubt there'll be a demo, but it's a shameless Zelda spoof by the crew that made Demon's Souls)

Look into it, if you can find a good price:

Heavenly Sword (incredible art direction and cutscenes - the best facial animation I've ever seen, and I'm counting Uncharted 2 in that comparison. As a game? It's okay. It's not bad.)

Killzone 2 (also shows off HDTVness, and I love the way the game plays but the story is useless and the final encounter sucks balls.)

Little Big Planet. I don't know if there's a demo, but there's three types of PS3 gamers - those who don't mind LBP, but can think of better things to play (me) - those who couldn't care less about the game (a lot of folks, I'm sure) - and those who play it every fucking day even though their younger sibling loans them awesome games like Uncharted and BioShock (my older brother).

You may or may not like LBP - I can give no assurances - but it's possibe that you'll find you absolutely adore it.

I played both straight after they came out and personally, I think Killzone 2's last level alone is better than the entire Resistance 2 single player. The one thing I think Resistance 2 did better was the co-op mode, which was super fun but even then, I think Uncharted 2's already made huge improvements to that mode.

I really wish Insomniac would just ditch Resistance entirely and just create a new IP that actually has an interesting premise and setting. Preferably not a shooter too, since Sony's already got way too many of them (Resistance, Killzone, SOCOM, Warhawk and MAG).

Oh and listen to Darth_Mogs, everyone should buy Yakuza 3 in March.

Succinct, poignant, and oh so true. VP is one of the few things I truly missed after having to sell my PS3 earlier this year.

But that will be remedied soon, as daddy's got himself a new one for Christmas. I skipped over buying VP again right out of the gate and picked up Uncharted 2, which I think is an acceptable compromise.

I just got a PS3 for xmas. I'm pretty hyped for FFXIII, White Knight, and the port/remake of Tales of Vesperia, but those won't be out for a while.

The thing is I really don't enjoy the same type of games most modern gamers do. I don't have a lot of fun with most shooters.

I picked up MGS4 for pretty cheap and I love the story so far, even though I suck at the game. It's fun though overall becasue it's different than all the generic fps and third person shooters out today. I'm usually really into quirky Japanese and Nintendo games. What kind of games would I like for PS3?

So far I'm planning on getting Valkyrie Chronicles and maybe rented Uncharted 2, though I'm kind of unsure about the latter.

    Another vote for Infamous.

You can get MGS4 on the cheap now, and even if you think the story is fucking bullshit (like me), you can still appreciate the graphics and gameplay, both of which are superb. It would last you a couple playthroughs.

I'll throw in another nod toward Uncharted 1 and 2. The first has held up quite well, though it doesn't look nearly as good as the second. It is still quite fun to play, and the story keeps you playing, with no section being boring or making me want to stop. It is quite nice.

Also I'm a big fan of Infamous.
