Regarding gameplay: The Void is quite different from The Path. The Path is barely a game at all -- there's almost no opportunities for failure, just for exploring and seeing all the content or for missing things. The Void is a punishingly hard game, and you have to learn about the world through trial and error.
Definitely buy The Void, especially at $10. But keep lots of separate saves. And listen to the tips -- conserve color to keep yourself alive. Follow instructions, until
you start to get conflicting instructions from different parties
It doesn't have an ESRB rating, so I should tell you: the creatures would probably be nightmare fuel for younger players. Also the sisters are clothed ONLY by particle effects, and layers of effects disappear as you fill up their hearts, eventually leaving them nude. Tastefully nude with Barbie doll anatomy, and (except for a couple of sisters) not sexual at all, but you should be aware.

There really needs to be a Firefox add-on that will close any tab opened to tvtropes for more than 15 minutes.
On the one hand, I'd have so much more time to spend doing productive things.
On the other hand, there would be so much less potential for me to be an asshole by linking it in discussions where it's not entirely necessary to make my point.
Yes, sorry about the tvtropes link. It's like a black hole that consumes free time.
Not that this is any defense, but I pulled that on a thread about Avatar. Thread got derailed talking about all the plot elements that seemed familiar. *link to tvtropes* See? This discussion you're having now has already been finished and cataloged, and here's the next 5 pages of this thread already laid out for your perusal.
Didn't go over well there either, but it did get us past the petty bickering in a hurry.

No, as long as there aren't enemies around you can pause and click a button to return to the Mako.

Much to my shock Crysis is running at all medium settings with my aging Radeon X1950 Pro. Thrilled about that, not so thrilled about said card overheating during my first full firefight, but that's just a ventilation issue. Having a blast with it so far.
I tried that and it gave me WAY more resolution options than the in-game options screen had. Definitely try that.

Click resolutions in the in game graphics options, and you will see a down scroll button at the bottom right. Click that and you will find more options.

Can anyone tell me why my credit card is always declined when I try to purchase a game through the steam client, but when I do it through their website with identical information it works every single damn time? It's a little annoying, I have to say.
Click resolutions in the in game graphics options, and you will see a down scroll button at the bottom right. Click that and you will find more options.
If I'm thinking of the right game, the scroll down button is a bit difficult to see, which would be why you're missing the higher resolutions
blows my mind that Mass Effect is $5. Mass Effect is easily 24 hours of entertainment.
I wouldn't say easily. You would have to do about every quest. 16-18 hours seem more fair
First time I played Mass Effect, it took me like 40 hours to beat it. I did like, everything though.
So over on GOG, Freespace 2 is like $4. I hear it's good. Any reason to play the first one first?
Not really, the story of it is covered entirely in 2's databanks. One is a great trip, but it is just a warm-up act for the feats of insanity you need to pull off in 2.
Plus, I dunno if the SCP works with GoG's FS2, but I do know that mods for FS1 were made for FS2. (I own a legal copy of FS2 for the record. From Hong Kong or something, but legal nonetheless.)
So maybe I should just get the first one to go through the story and learn how to play because 2 is harder?
What's SCP?
Source Code Project.
I don't know its "status" since GoG re-released FS2, so I'm not gonna say any more.
SCP is completely legal, and not rendered illegal just because FS2 is being sold again. Feel free to talk about it. Source code does not equal game content/assets.

C'mon Steam... gimme a crazy deal on Bloodbowl, I know you can do it. Fulfill all my holiday wishes.

You probably are thinking of the right game. When I found that out I felt like an idiot. By that I am talking about Mass Effect.

I would get Mass Effect if I could transfer my save from the 360 version to the PC somehow.
But I'm probably just going to have to rent it again to finish it before I get ME2.
Heck, $5 is cheaper than renting a game
If you don't feel like getting another character up to level 60, just do what I did and give yourself a ton of XP through the console commands. It'd been long enough so I enjoyed going through the main story, but there was no way in hell I was going to go through another 3 playthroughs just to get a single level 60 Shepard for ME2.
So, are there any more opinions on The Void? It seems like an interesting game (and a search of this thread only turned up people who bought it, but haven't played it, sans one exception).
Do you like games-as-art? Are you ok when a game is hard to the point of being unfair? And being left in the dark about most of the game's concepts until very late in the game, always wondering whether you're doing things right or wrong?
If so, then yes, buy it immediately.
Amusingly, most of that applies to The Last Remnant as well.
DMC4 was pretty close to 3's greatness. The only flaws were the lack of Vergil and the fact that the second half of the game is the first half in reverse. Also some of the enemies were assholes.
Excellent game, regardless.
It's embarrassing, but I find myself stuck very early on in DMC4. I'm in some kind of castle and need to cross an area by "jumping" between those zap points you catch onto with your demon hand. If you've played the game, I think you know what I mean. Problem is, the ceiling is full of spikes, so I need to time my jumps or else I get hurt, fall down a floor, have to work my way up, and try again. I have tried this countless times now and I just can't do it. Incredibly frustrating.
I'm still hoping against hope that Borderlands makes the daily deal cut.
After much deliberation (procrastinating) I finally made good on the Unreal Deal pack. I briefly checked out UT2k4's multiplayer before coming into work tonight. Aside from Onslaught it seems as lively as UT99's. I wasn't expecting it to be overflowing with games, but I wasn't expecting it to be as empty as it was either. Maybe it was just a bad time? I guess I won't really know until I can actually sit down with it for longer than 15 minutes later this week.
Between the rain screwing with my clearwire and the servers being iffy, it is going to be a long while before I get Mass Effect. Thankfully, SR2 is keeping me quite happy. I am currently conquering Stillwater with the latin lesbian version of Pink from when she first started back in 98.
Odd Pink story
Around that time, someone had 1000's of those postcard ads for her album and they were plastered everywhere in my highschool. Walls, halls, sinks, lockers, urinals. Everytime I took a piss, I had to look at that shocking hair color that seems to match her teeth. I mean I dug some of her song later but it was just such an ordeal to see her EVERYWHERE!

I can't make that call.
All right, people. It is not a gerbil. It is not a hamster. It is not a guinea pig. It is a death rabbit. Death. Rabbit. Say it with me, now.

google for the cinema mod for max payne 2.
Oh god, Im playing mass effect, 1280x800 is the maximum wide screen resolution it allows?
Also, I slid off a hill and onto a rock, and I cannot get off of said rock. Am I boned? I think this game is getting shelved.

I actually dont have the mako yet, was still on the first mission. I had to reload from an earlier checkpoint about 15 minutes back.
Anyone know about the resolutions?
Nope.
Waited and waited for that too happen, then grew impatient.
If it happens I'll kick myself. Or not, seeing as it's totally worth it so far.

Is the first one the remake? That's the version I had as a kid, so it having that version might push me over the edge.

I kind of wish I had three other people to go in on with for the Left 4 Dead 2 pack, too.
Well, I think there's gonna be a second sale tomorrow that finishes it, so maybe it'll be there?
