The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
The compression is still pretty bad on the font. It's really hard to read even at a larger size. You might want to just use a different font, or adjust the size of the font itself (instead of the overall image). I'd imagine even in printed form that would still be hard to read.
The art looks great... although I'm having problems figuring out your light source on some of these panels.
Something small that jumped out at me was how on page three, panel one, there's a narration box over the figure on the right's legs. It just looks sort of awkward, especially since there's plenty of white space right to the lower left of the guy. I don't even know if you're lettering this, but if you are, I'd fix it. It's such a minor thing that would improve the look of the panel without disrupting the flow.
Otherwise, good work all around. These really have kind of a classic George Perez/Phil Jimenez look to them.
Thanks, PeterAndCompany, I´m resizing the lettering up a bit, hope it+s a bit more readavble now....
Hey, Munch, thanks for pointing that out, I have to confess I never liked that panel. Ever! So, I guess I was waiting for someone to single it out so I could shoot it down Hope it looks a bit better now
(ohms)Crunchy -I´ve heard about that game but never got to play it. Wasn´t it kinda like Warcraft?
When I read the word khajit, I thought it was referring to the giant beast because on another site someone mentioned it looked like a turtle (hence me thinking that khajit was some exotic dish).
Originally, I called those creatures "orc asaris" but the design was much different then, more orc-like, less cat-like. Somewhere along the line it mutated into what you see here.
I am resizing them down from 11"X17" at 300 dpi but in my screen they seem alright, noit much different or more pixelated than what you normaly see on the net....
You can't be resizing them correctly. What colourspace are you working in when you resize? Make sure it's greyscale or RGB with bicubic resampling filter.
I'm finding it quite difficult to read the text in the comic. I don't know if it's a size issue or if it may be a problem with that fonts readability a that size.
You know when you get an image, and you force it to resize on a website, and the image doesnt re-render according to the image resize, it just crunches all the data into itself. It looks like that.
Like when you look at your image in PS at odd resolution sizes. eg: 50% and 100% looks good but 66.75% looks like crap.
Are you doing something wack, like flattening your image, converting it to a tiff for print, and then using your tiff to resize down for the web?
If so, true type formats don't allow for resizing the same as a working file format will.
I have it set to bicubic.
In my monitor screen it seems okay, so how do I fix it so that other viewers can read the pages?
Help!
is it a fixed pallette or b&w? Change it to greyscale or RGB before resizing it - see if that helps. Could also go to 600px wide instead of specifying 800px high.
Well, I´ve never played Warcraft (Sorry!! Don´t kill me!!) but orcs, trolls, hobgoblins, elves, dwarves, sorcerers and warrior priests have been the staple of every high fantasy game and tale from Dungeon & Dragons to Lord of the Ring to Warcraft.
I did some tinkering with the resizeing of the pages, let me know if it works better now....
I'm getting a strong "Dino Riders" vibe from this, Youtube has a couple of episodes if you've never seen it. Great show, made up a large part of my childhood :P
Well I ´ve never seen it but if it´s High Fantasy (wizards, warriors, dwarves, elves, orcs), then I´m not surprised that my story reminds you of it since we drank from the same fountain
I really like your art and all, but the fonts you use for sound effects need to go. The panel with the 'bap/ clang/ crack/ whud/ whack/ whack/ bap/ whack' i find is really cheapened by text. And don't even get me started on the arrows 'ssssssssss'.
I use two different tools for inking, a rottring rapidograph pen (either 0.5 or 0.35mm) and a brush.
In time I replaced my brush with this puppy and have never looked back.
After the traditional inking comes the digital post where I scan the page into the computer and digitally correct any art mishaps with a Wacom tablet (Volitos 2) and my trusty Photoshop 5.5.

As for the text/story, no idea because the compression makes it unreadable.
re-post some higher-res shots.
I´ve re-uploaded the pages slightly bigger, let me know if it works better....
Hey, Mayday..... what´s khajit?

Do you have trouble reading all the word ballons or only the ones inverted with the whitte letters set against a black background?

Use bombardiers advice to resize correctly.
Try using png too.

I'm seeing orcs and druids.
I did some tinkering with the resizeing of the pages, let me know if it works better now....
And not just any gryphs but pocket gryphs
I wait patiently for another page.
Yeah, my lettering really sucks...
Sorry......
May I ask, what tool do you use for inking? Fountain pen?
