The quote on the front page is so drenched in arrogance, it's incredible. We need a Chinese villain in the next Bond movie, enough with these French and Russian guys.

Also, if they're saying it's enough to cause x number of deaths and that's justification, what do they do if you're caught with a gun with a full clip? Ooh, thirteen bullets, that's over a dozen murder charges.

    Man. This sounds weird.

Alright, so, the Chinese executed a guy smuggling heroin.

The family claims said guy was mentally ill.

Said family does not monitor the mans actions, as he takes a strangers suitcase into a foreign country. If that was indeed what happened.

Shouldn't the family monitor him, or pay for someone to watch him so he doesn't do this kind of stuff if he is mentally ill?

Maybe I'm just way too tired for this kind of stuff.

Who has the money to employ a team of people to follow someone 24 hours a day? Short of confining him to a mental hospital (and if there was no indication he was a danger to himself or others, that wouldn't be a viable option), I don't see what they could have done.

It's disgusting that they wouldn't let him see a doctor. Typical Chinese goverment power tripping bullshit. Apparently they don't even tell prisomers when they're being killed. Worst surprise party ever.

I mean he seems to have been sane enough to get a pass port and know hot to get to China, so.

Same thing really. We're just swapping one set of rich tosspots who only care about themselves for another, slightly richer set.

I miss the old Labour Party. The one that hated anyone that made more than £30,000, and couldn't get elected. I guess I vote Socialist Labour now, or Lib Dem? Doesn't really matter, Labour will win up here, and the Torys will win overall.

a lethal overdose of heroin is extremely variable but it can be anywhere from .2 to .5 grams so their calculation at least isn't hilariously flawed

Hundreds of emails sent by Shaikh to the British embassy in Warsaw from 2005 reveal the state of his mind. In the messages, obtained by Reprieve, he claimed to have spoken to the angel Gabriel and explained that he could have foiled the July 7 bombings in 2005, had he only been allowed to hold a press conference. One email appeared to be a letter to Father Christmas.

He was definitely a sane man and the Chinese courts were right to refuse to let him have a psychiatric examination.
