So I stopped playing wow back when ulduar came out cause of some work issues. But, I've recently gotten back into it. My old guild has died and while I've had fun running the "new" heroics alone to try and catch up gear wise. I really want to get into raiding again, and playing with people who don't suck. If I where to switch servers to ravenholdt to join, would I be welcomed with open arms and dark chocolate truffles?

We would be happy to have more PAers in our guild and right now we're in the process of putting together a 2nd 10man raid to work along our main 10man progression raid. (I don't plan to lead any 25mans, fuck that noise!) We're just short on tanks to fill out a second raid when there is an influx of beasts online, which is happening a lot lately and hate turning down people for our lone raid.

The problem so far though has been deciding on raid names. Raid A and Raid B just doesn't seem to click, though some like Raid A and Raid 1. However I've been leaning towards Raid Fighting Mongooses for the ones I lead.

Aside of that you will find that there is always someone online during the day (or night with the Aussie crowd) up for running random Heroics or even Battlegrounds, but I can't promise instant raid queues the moment you join. The Ravenholdt server does have successful PuG raids which some members do run if they can't get in on guild raids.

I just got back from my vacation and have been playing a bit with some PAers on alliance on my rogue. I might be interested in tanking a second raid for you all on my paladin, but you would have to help me gear up. Have a mix of naxx/ulduar tank gear I picked up while raiding as ret, but its not enough to raid tank with.

Well to be fair, the people who could tank the second 10 man are also the same people who are healing it? It is hard to figure the actual balance due to the number of characters everyone plays, but we hit 18 or so pretty regularly but just cannot work out the numbers for The Others to also raid at the same time.

Gearing up doesn't really help me much -- I feel like once I get all that tanking gear from the heroic badges, then there's nothing left but grabbing two frost every day and standing around with my thumb up my bum.

Funnily enough I'm in virtually the same situation. The only difference is that I'm a dirty, dirty alliance, so I'd also have to faction transfer.

The photos I took before we killed the king. It should be noted that the planned Horde raid on the Capitol cities was rather upset to find Magni dead when they got there.

I remember going through AMAZING trouble to get into old IF. It involved climbing to the gnomish airport, jumping off a waterfall, walking through a tunnel that went for a very long time and then jumping into oblivion at the perfect angle.

Unless we are speaking of different tunnels, that route no longer works. The lava beneath Ironforge was at one time infinitely deep, so you could land in it after leaping from that tunnel and then swim upward to Old Ironforge. However, that's no longer the case. You'll just fall to your doom taking that route.

There are two remaining routes. One requires that you be a female gnome, while the other requires that you have either a) someone to duel and disorient a person who owns a mammoth or bike mount, or b) a mage. The first path involves jumping onto and then through the vault in the bankers area. The second path involves being disoriented through, or blinking through, a hillside far above Ironforge, and then using extremely precise aim and timing to slowfall into Old Ironforge.

Old Ironforge is, by far, the most difficult place to reach, of all of these areas that I'll be leading expeditions to. I thought it'd be suitable for the first event, and indeed it was.

And do so prior to an organized Horde City Raid?

We actually just happened to be there when Steve mentioned that a city raid was forming, so in order to leave them utterly bewildered, we quickly summoned Steve and forced him to tank Magni. At first he got punted into the lava and we were crushed by the 20+ guards and Magni that suddenly found themselves without a tank, but then we went ahead and fought him in the hallway instead. It took about 7 minutes to kill him.

I wish I understood more what happened. why is that stuff in the game? it was just developed but never actually implemented so if you can glitch the environment you can find it?

and yet it still has the same spawns as actual Ironforge?

that is so funny that a Horde raid formed and had to wait. I remember someone saying so in guild chat but I didn't put it all together. Gold.

Old Ironforge isn't some other version of modern Ironforge, it's literally just this little area under the throne room labeled "Old Ironforge" on the minimap. You can see it if you go into the city and zoom in. It's attached via a long ramp to the doorway on your left as you're entering the throne room, but has never actually been intentionally accessible via that path. There are no spawns in there; the guards and Magni simply came through that door to fight us.

As for why it's in the game? The best theory I've seen is that it was going to be the Alliance's version of RFC, but was never fully implemented.
