I went with Shazgrik for my goblin shaman, using the goblin names on the Wowwiki page. The best part is being able to scream SHAZBOT! every time I release an engineering pet/dummy/Jeeves.
So after dicking around with Archaeology for a bit, I decide to finally start leveling by going out to Hyjal. Immediately when the dragon drops me off, this happens:
WELP, looks like it's off to Vashj'ir

Yeah, guards autokilling you when you land doesn't seem like a fantastic welcome to the zone. Did those fuckers want my help or not?

goblins look so cool. It makes me wish they'd give some new looks for the older races.

They are. A few months ago someone was harping on how far behind the original 8 races (hell, even Belves and Draenei) are compared to the player models of Goblins and Worgen, and the Blizzard guy answering said the art team has dabbled in it, but it couldn't make the Cataclysm launch. So it's happening, without a time table yet.
Yeah, same for the druid forms. No doubt it will happen like they said, the only question is how many years will it take?
Welcome aboard, Henroid, and to all the others who have joined. I saw a good amount of people across the forums talking about joining us, I'm wondering if we actually got a lot of new people.

Because druid travel form is just a reused mob model it would be cool if they gave druids the ability to learn a form from beast mobs and use that for their travel form.

They are probably just trying to be cautious about how they go about updating active race models. They don't want to put something out that the majority will hate. Doesn't mean they will never come out with an update to the existing races.
Mind you, there will always be complainers in regards to race models, whether they change or don't, that's not a reason to hold back on updating them.
I have a question; what is Ravenholdt like comparable to other RP servers? I know the rules but never got into it without a group of people to get into it with. I'm trying to figure out if I want to get in with any PA guilds to save myself further server hopping in the future when I come back to WoW later in the month, and I'm just hesitant about going to a roleplaying server considering some of my experiences with them in the past.
I'm not really sure what your past experiences are, though.
As far as the Beasts, our RPing pretty much consists of cute/silly /says courtesy of our resident scripter's Speakeasy addon. Just don't have a dumb name like Critfaced and don't be a jerk, and we'll have fun.
Now, if you want some more intense RPing, I'm sure it'l take all of five minutes strolling around Silvermoon to find some.

I don't know if it's a byproduct of the RP server or just the expansion itself, but I've been ganked ONCE since starting the expansion (about 8 hours of play) and there's been several times it's been me and about eight Alliance players swimming around and tagging the same mobs. The one time I did get ganked, the retribution on the offending Shadow Priest was pretty swift.
Did Saeris ever release the planned huge update to SEGUI?
It's been mostly done for about two months now. I say "mostly" because I keep finding more things to fix. However, my beta testers (Munkus and Steve mostly) seem to like it now, and I think all of the issues have been resolved. I'll try to release it soon, but honestly I can't be sure of when. If you want a copy, though, I can email it to you or send it via AIM or something.
My problem with it in the past, was confusion with the UI(I'm bad at mods). So if it's been made more idiot-proof, I'd love to RP it up on Lichfoe, destroyer of liches.

From past experience on the non-rp pvp server I play on, it's probably the expansion. People start the expansion really focused on leveling up to cap. I'm not currently playing, so I can't say if Cataclysm is any different, but it sounds like its not.
How it goes after the initial leveling rush, when people start doing dailies and raiding, well, that's another story.
End on
I wish that someway, somehow, that I could save every one of us
I won't lie. I wait in fear for everyone to get to 85, look around for a bit, and realize they can now scour the skies of Stranglethorn or wherever for people 40 levels under them to gank.

It's kind of funny: the underlying mechanics of the addon have remained almost unchanged for three years, but the terminology and the interface have been through at least six clearly distinct versions. At least three of those have been after the last time you used it. Around the third redesign, I gave up thinking I'd ever really get it right, but even so, this new one is probably the simplest yet.

My past experiences have been few and far between, mainly just testing the waters solo on a few different RP servers. Silvermoon almost universally seems to be a hub for more... interesting RPing.
I personally like the idea of casually RPing as long as I have a guild chat I can look at where people talk normally like any other server, something I didn't get far enough to see in other servers. For names, I love coming up with good names and usually spend a good 30 minutes picking a name.
I love this forum and the people in it and have years of experience with WoW, and I think i'll stop writing a resume and just pay you guys a visit later in the month when I come back. I just want a good, casual PA community guild that can last longer and can at least run 10 mans so I can see raids again.

I even accidentally attacked an alliance and then stopped, they attacked me back, and when I stopped fighting (because it was an accident) they stopped as well!

I was impressed.
Earlier in Hyjal, a silly Warlock had her pet on aggressive so it was peppering me with shots. I glared at her, she did nothing, so I kill the pet and she runs away about 20 yards, looks at me, then starts casting. And gets blown up by the other 3 Horde there.
I decided to finally take the plunge and finally play this game after resisting since it originally came out during my college years. I would appreciate if I could get an invite, my goblin warrior is named Woltik.

Wow hmm, I guess Ima the server jerk, cause I was dropping some warlock hot loving all over every alliance I saw in Vash.

WHAT ABOUT BARAQOSAMA?!!!!
As much as I like horde, I want to roll at least one Worgen character.
I'm on there, as Heimdul the dwarven paladin light bringer slayer.
Looking at your Steam profile, you appear to be from the UK. Unfortunately, we're on Ravenholdt US, not EU. Sorry duder.

Something more substantial than, "It's Blizzard, and/or I am a grumpypuss."
They've been saying they're going to change the models for years.
I would bet 25 cents it doesn't happen before the next expansion! You can take that to the bank!
