    Voted.

I'm shocked at how good Ratchet and Clack: A Crack in Time is. It came bundled with my PS3 so I figured it'd be a throwaway game, like Kung-Fu panda was with the Xbox. But Holy Shit is this game oozing with presentation. The dialogue and actions of characters continuously makes me laugh.

And the visuals......shit.........once in a while the right lighting and angle will hit and I'll swear I'm playing a Pixar movie.

Yeah, Ratchet and Clank is nowhere near a shovelware, throwaway title. Insomniac works its ass off with each release in the franchise, and it's as close as you'll get to playing a Pixar movie (as per the back of the box) or a Chuck Jones cartoon.

Hard to choose between Uncharted 2, Batman, and Assassin's Creed 2. I think Uncharted 2 pulls away in the end, it just kills in every single area and definitely wins when it comes to my most important criteria: story/writing/dialogue.

Some interesting lists so far. It would seem we have some very diverse tastes (though it seems a few stellar titles are rising above the noise)

    My GOTY 2009 List :

    1. Demon's Souls (PS3)
    2. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (PS3)
    3. Left 4 Dead 2 (PC)
    4. Trine (PC)
    5. Infamous (PS3)
    6. Plants vs. Zombies (PC)
    7. Borderlands (PC)
    8. Batman: Arkham Asylum (360)
    9. Dragon Age: Origins (PC)
    10. Red Faction: Guerrilla (PS3)
    11. Pixeljunk Shooter (PS3)
    12. Shadow Complex (360)
    13. Killzone 2 (PS3)
    14. Osmos (PC)
    15. Battlefield 1943 (PS3)

If it wasn't for the brilliance that was Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2 would have been easily my top pick. Beyond the top 5 it's a bit of a toss-up.

Yeah easily a top 5 game. Too many other strong titles for it to be GOTY, but definitely among the elite.

I forgot to add Assassin's Creed II and Torchlight. I haven't gotten around to playing either, but considering the near universal praise both have received, I readily expect those to make my list for next year

Had to go with Dragon Age: Origins at #1. I think it set the bar a few notches higher in terms of what single player games can do with dynamic worlds and decision making. It also featured some of the best writing/voice acting I've experienced in a game. I don't think I was uninterested for a single moment of my first 60 hour play through.

Batman is 2nd, followed by Borderlands.

Glancing through the thread, I see not many people liked Empire Total War as much as I did. God I love that series. It's my #2, with my top 5 being:

    1) Street Fighter 4
    2) Empire Total War
    3) Dragon Age Origins
    4) Borderlands
    5) Batman Arkham Asylum

I admittedly love street fighter to an unfair degree for any other game series. Chances of Super Street Fighter 4 being my favorite game of 2010 are pretty high unless they screw something up terribly.

Yeah, there are so many games that I know would make my top list if I just got around to playing them. Alas, I played more than these, but I wanted to keep it around a top 5, but had to go with 6:

    1. Borderlands (360,PC,PS3)
    2. Batman: Arkham Asylum (360,PC,PS3)
    3. Demon's Souls (PS3)
    4. Dragon Age: Origins (360,PC,PS3)
    5. Scribblenauts (DS)
    6. Crimson Gem Saga (PSP)

The exact ranking was hard to do, but whatever, close enough.

Edit: Basically 1&2, and then 3&4 could easily be swapped. Too close to call there.

Well, here's my list... this was a hard year to rank them. The top 5 are more or less a toss-up. Uncharted 2 won out simply because I enjoyed the whole package.

And if you'd asked me just 2 months ago if I thought Assassin's Creed 2 would make my top 5 on the list, I would have laughed at the thought. Ubisoft really took me by surprise.

Demon's Souls really might have been my #1, but I've only been playing for less than week - it's up there, though, because I simply love the originality - it's cryptic and challenging as well as fresh and addicting.

Halo 3 ODST is there just because I'm an OLOLOL Halo fan and I really enjoyed the different direction Bungie went with. It adds something to the lore of Halo, which I really enjoy.

And then there's Shadow Complex. It's exactly what I want in a Metroid/SOTN-like game.

Everything else was equally hard to rank, but there it is. Yes, I included Patapon 2 - simply because I have blown a LOT of time playing that game.
    Thanks! You voted for:

    1. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (PS3)

I think someone said the editor used the sixaxis, and I could imagine that being a good bit harder without something like the sixaxis or the ds touchscreen, but other than that it never seemed like the kind of thing that required a PS3 and it seemed really like the kind of casual / pick up and play thing that shines on a handheld. I suppose this is my list. I'm kind of torn on the last few, because while I enjoyed them, I don't really consider them to be game of the year material. Maybe I'm fucking your sample. I consider things like ODST or L4D2 more like expansion packs anyway, but I liked them, so I'm willing to put them in my GOTY list. I'm solid on the first three, though. Uncharted was hands down in the top two or three games of the generation, while DA and AA were both excellent games this year.

    1. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (PS3)
    2. Dragon Age: Origins (360,PC,PS3)
    3. Batman: Arkham Asylum (360,PC,PS3)
    4. Tales of Monkey Island (PC,Wii)

Not having played the PS3 version, I'd say that the PSP singleplayer part was quite well made (obviously would have been better with coop), but the real fun is in the editor (which was a stripped down a bit from the console game) and playing custom levels. However, the editor is buggy as fuck and will make your PSP freeze every couple hours, and so far every self-created level I made was corrupted, which is the reason why I rank the game lower then it probably deserves. Here's hoping they fix this soon.

LBP PSP you only have one little sack guy on screen at a time instead of like up to 4, right? Also there's no multiplayer in the PSP version? I think they may have restricted some movement in terms of foreground/background movement but I can't confirm that. Other than that, and the limitations/bugs of the level editor, it's pretty much the same game.
