If I could ask a huge favour of the fine denizens of G+T;

I'm in the market for a laptop. I'm gonna need one for work. I'm an engineer, so it needs enough muscle to run some 3d modeling software and do a little number crunching, but it doesn't necessarily need to play games. I guess it would be cool if it could, but i'm not gonna spend much money on it. I want it to be able to play movies, so that i can hook it to my t.v. or monitor

I've got a desktop so storage size isn't that important, 60 gigs would totally do it, less would do it too.

I'm also wondering Mac vs windows. My desktop is winxp, and i'd like the two of them to be able to share files/printers. Can macs do that? And why do macs seem like they are so goddamn expensive when compared to windows laptops?

Now, for monitors. I left my clunky 19" flatscreen normal aspect ratio monitor back home. At something like 50 pounds, i wasn't lugging it to Vancouver with me. I'd like a new flatscreen monitor for watching dvd's, playing 360, and of course, computing. I saw this:

at futureshop the other day, and it seemed pretty. I'm willing to drop that much on a nice product, am I getting something quality here?
