Going to play 300 points on Friday, either Cold Sleep or Safe Area, to be randomly determined on site. Think I'll iterate a bit on the 200-point list I played last time.

Ragik Hacker redesign. I really like this. The design is more of a refinement of the old Ragik design, than a complete overhaul. Body, arm and leg armour is mostly the same, bodysuit underneath is just more utilitarian than the old spandex bodysuit, and the helmet redesign is a welcome change from the old bug eye model. It's not making me want it right now, but it and the Spitfire are definitely on the list.
So this month we have been shown the USAriadna Para, Avicenna, the Ragik and the Domaru
Just Rodoks left. And is it this week or next week that Mayacast typically has the monthly releases? I know that December will have Achilles 2.0 and Desperados, imagining that Nomads will probably get a release as they've not had any for two months, Haqqislam and Yu Jing probably getting a break, so Tohaa and CA probably getting the slots?

Tohaa doggies probably.
No idea about the CA. There was that giant drone/TAG render floating around though.
Army 5 is updated with the new Dormaru and Rangers profiles.
TBH I wasn't so familiar with the Domaru before, but looks like new weapon options. Anything else I'm missing?
Also, they have Martial Arts and Berserk.
How do those interact with each other?
dang.
So you choose one from the MA choices, and one from the Berserk choices? Sweet.
Finally I can get some payback for all those Makauls beating up my mans

Domaru are no joke. They're already CC 23 before MA and Berserk bullshit.
In a recent game against my brother he had a BS Domaru. It spent 4 orders relentlessly walking towards my FB Azra'il, shrugging off hits and putting an AP slug into the Azra'il before finally closing and cutting it in half with an easy CC crit.

yeah
the new profiles are the combi rifle and spitfire loadouts
Domaru have always been CC monsters, but now they have weapons options that are actually useful outside close range
1-Being in a link team cancels Impetuous, right?
2-What's the difference between Impetuous and Extremely Impetuous?
1 yes
2 you can decline to use an impetuous order, but you can only cancel extremely impetuous by spending a regular order

Side note - the old Impetuous in N2 could be cancelled by an Irregular order as well. So if you had an Impetuous Irregular unit like a Kum they could stop themselves roaring into enemy LoS with their Irregular order. N3 Extremely Impetuous is harsher in that you have to spend an order from your Order Pool to stop them.
dang.
So you choose one from the MA choices, and one from the Berserk choices? Sweet.

Yes. And they are quite capable of kicking the shit out of Makauls for sure.
This does mean you can also assault and still be at CC 23 with the target at -3 to their ftf, which is cool. It's worth pointing out that Beserk is often un-necessary, though, and you don't need to activate it. Really it'll just let them drop a free hit, whereas with a CC topping at 26 you're winning that ftf anyway.
Another important thing to remember about Domaru; E/M Grenades. Everyone always forgets them but with BS 12 and PH 14 if you get an ARO against someone within 8" then cob a grenade at them. I've seen someone do that, isolate the target, then assault directly into them and cut them in half next turn. Banzai!

Berserk is great or those times when you either really need that crit (like with TAGs or other tough nuts) or when they won't be swinging back anyways (REMs, Immobilized HI, etc), or if you would be losing the FTF anyways (which is rare for Domaru)

doing the math: as a Domaru hitting a TAG in CC with Berserk gives you an 84.25% (85% using MA2 instead of MA3) chance of immobilizing it (80.75% with MA3, 80% with MA2 against BTS9 TAGs)
without berserk depends on the TAG's CC, but given an average CC of 18 is ~60% (the math is much harder for contested rolls)
now option B is much safer for the domaru, the chances the TAG will hit are ~10%, compared to 75% with berserk (or 90% with berserk+MA2), but from an action economy perspective sacrificing a wound to significantly improve the chances of taking out a troublesome unit may well be worth it.
edit: math was wrong bleh
edit edit: hilariously, if you are trying to kill a TAG's structure with berserk (or, in fact, anything over ARM 4) you are better off punching it with MA3 than hitting it with the E/M CCWs with MA2

Kerail and Symbiobeasts finally shown.
Smaller than I thought they'd be, but still look pretty badass. Can't wait to see what rules they've settled on. Apparently they'd been playing with basically everything - G: Sync, Antipode controller rules, Symbiont attaching like the Symbio mates/bombs, etc. So it will be interesting to see what they eventually went with.
The one with the guns has two light flamethrowers and the other is a melee beast.
Love the beasts. My only criticism is that I wish the guy had a more traditional Tohaa helm. His looks a bit odd in comparison, prefer that sleek full face plate
Well, I couldn't resist their Siren call. I picked up a Yan Huo, a Tiger BSg and a Zhuyong yesterday, kinda restarting Yu Jing. these models are just sooooooo nice.
Played for the first time in like a year this past weekend. It was...not entirely like riding a bike.
I have a question about Close Combat. Let's say I'm 5 inches from my enemy, and he declares an Assault action - he's gonna close the gap and attack me with CC. Since he's not right in my face at the beginning, can I use CC Attack as an ARO, or do I need to shoot him?
If I use my ARO to shoot him, is there a face-to-face roll for CC, or does his CC Attack go unopposed?

You can either shoot, or declare a CC attack of your own. Either way it's a face to face roll, just pick the one that's better for you. If you've got a high MA level, you'll likely punch him. If you've got a shotgun, you'll probably shoot for that sweet +6.
They changed these so declaring a shoot against a CC attack is a face to face roll to make CC less suicidal. Also means units with high MA can use their MA against the incoming shooting attack, making them even more likely to win with a CC attack.
That makes sense. What about ARO's with template weapons (like Chain Rifles or Flamethrowers)? Is that a face to face?
Do teardrop weapons require a BS roll? I just realized that we may have been doing them completely incorrectly, since we've not been rolling BS for teardrop template weapons.
Another ARO question - can I Dodge as my ARO if being shot from behind, or is my only ARO option to change facing?
-Loki-Don't pee in my mouth and tell me it's raining.Registered Userregular
There's two types of template weapons. Impact Template Weapons and Direct Template Weapons.
Impact Template Weapons use BS to hit and place the template at the impact point (shotguns, missile launchers, etc). For an Impact Template Weapon, it's a normal face to face roll, and you choose where the template impacts on his movement path as normal.
Direct Template Weapons don't use BS at all and just place a template (like your mentioned Chain Rifles and Flame Throwers). For these, you just place the template as normal and they make a save as normal, however, since orders carry out to completion, they will still get their chance to move in and punch you. They will have an unopposed CC attack and if they hit, you roll a save.
Direct Template Weapons are essentially a mutually assured destruction option when someone if charging into CC. You'll likely end up being cut in half, but they will do it while burning to death or being full of hot shrapnel holes.

This months releases. Apparently Jerkilles 2.0 initial release is a box with both models in it as a 10th anniversary release. Then there will be a regular blister with just the regular release in it. USARF starter is just the starter pack models from the army pack from Gencon.
Achilles V2.0 Hoplite Armor special 10th anniversary Edition!
Loki, thank you for the explanation, that cleared things up for template weapons. Anyone know if you can use Dodge as an ARO if being shot from behind? I know you can change facing as an ARO...
Also, I don't even play Aleph and I want that Achilles model.

change facing vs an attack is a face to face roll, so on a success it does cancel out the attack
but you can't dodge without Line of Fire, no
Also remember change facing requires either an Alert or the attacker to be inside the reacting model's Zone of Control
edit: so if you sneak behind the enemy and shoot them from >8" out they can't react without special skills or equipment (notably Sixth Sense L2 or a 360° visor)

Well shit. I did not know that about change facing - what does the player changing face roll for the face-to-face? PH? WIP?

Looking at the way Impetuous movement is phrased, I'm a little confused - how does Impetuous interact with figures in TO: Camouflage? Does the Impetuous model move towards the TO: Camo model, or the next closest enemy/deployment zone?

Hmmm yes now you mention it I would like a Domaru fire team
