That's a mean, mean little force tthere mind.

Jaguar core, Wildcat Haris, Intruder, Hellcat... get a Tsyklon box and you're running it hot with that Alguacile hacker, that's very solid!

The Haqq set is a bit odd. You'd think they'd bundle in the Odalisque box or the Djanbazan box to let you field a full linked team. KTS are great, but QK's strength is in its linked team options. And the Tohaa set is weird compared to the rest. While they're not billed as 'starter' forces, the rest kinda are, since they're all a starter plus extras. Tohaa is just 3 random boxes. Good value, but pretty nonsensical compared to the others.

  • CarnarvonCarnarvon Registered User regular
I think they're selling what they have overstocked. The NCA box is like 500 points with two doubles. The Tohaa pack doesn't surprise me, they already have the 300pt pack. Might as well throw in one good box and two unpopular.

But yeah, 21.50€ for shipping to the states. $4 cheaper than Gamenerdz if you buy one box, worth it if you buy two. I would have considered the NCA box it out came with the bolts box instead of the hexas and aquila.

  • Albino BunnyAlbino Bunny A Storyteller Registered User regular
I think the Bolts are one of the more popular models. Even if they aren't exceptional outside of the NCA imo.

They're really cool mini's theme and looks wise though.

Saddened by my inability to pick up that MAF box, I decided to pick up a Lizard so at least I'd have something to paint. Still looks great for a four year old model; though it's not hard to look good compared to the Szalamandra.

Looking to try out this list.

Pitchers+white noise can reduce the need to win overwatch wars against a lot of factions. So that list will probably work fine.

    Though obviously it lacks Chimera's.

I'd say you want a few more orders myself

    But that'll probably do fine

Just pump orders into el lizardo and she'll kill things

I need to use the Lizard more but ehhhh I don't like the modellll

Could just use el iguana instead I guess

So, they got Interventors? I wonder if they'll start dumping HD+ on factions more readily now, or if they just wanted the ultra-advanced AI faction to have it for less than 70 points.

Makes sense ALEPH would have it

And Nomads are still top IMO because they have the best repeater nets.

So we've been playing ~150 point games to pace ourselves with painting and whatnot, especially as we learn the game. We're still looking up rules a fair bit (although getting better each time) and there's some rules we haven't touched at all yet.

I think for the most part the game scales well down to 150 except for one thing, which is objectives. We've forgone the ITS construct because it's difficult to cram specialists into a 150 point list, but "point at each other and kill things" seems to dilute some of the depth of the game. I know in ITS tournaments you'd have 2 lists and pick one based on the mission type...are there any ITS-like things that work well at lower points? I've heard about 20x20 and YAMS, should I bother looking into those yet? Or would we be better off finding a way to make ITS work at 150 (i.e. pick a mission and generate lists in advance of that) to help mix it up?

Honestly, none of the mission structures are very well suited for 150. Since the board size doesn't scale down anything you have to do other than kill your opponents is going to be a lot harder with the drastically reduced number of models. ITS at 150 with missions chosen in advance is your best bet -- a lot of the territory control missions play fine at 150. I would also say that any time a mission or classified objective specifies a type of specialist, instead let any specialist do it.

YAMS is basically just the classified objective cards and 20x20 is hot shit.

ODD link teams are incredible. I've been using the Kusinagi with a Healer and Moiras recently and it's scary how tough they are, and how much they kill

Corregidor really is less about the links, more about the Intruders, Tomcats, Bandits, Morans and such. But Wildcats are definitely a respectable link in of themselves

The best way to kill Moira links isn't an Intruder though, it's Mines and Koalas. Dodge this!

YAMS has the benefit of while it's basically classified objectives, they don't require specialists. I haven't seen the latest revision, IJW said he was toying with giving related specialists bonuses, but hadn't the last time I looked. This is good for 150pts because you don't need to try to jam in specialists.

Alternatively give Infinity: Recon a try. It was designed to be played at 150pts, with a much smaller table (2x3 rather than 4x4, the size of the mat in Icestorm and Red Veil), with restrictions on certain units which are pretty powerful at that game size.

For rules, print out the quick reference guides from the core rulebook and human sphere. All up it's over 20 pages but it's really helpful. I've found that about 3/4 of my reasons to go flip through the book are in the quick reference guides.

Yup, even with Intruders on your list the best answer any Nomad will have to 100+ points of investment will be to avoid direct conflict and neuter the threat in a less gun based way.

Could try a take and hold like armoury pretty easily, or the mission where you have to grab one of three objects and keep hold of them. Just reduce it to two to make up for the reduced model count and that'll get you having to think about how to move in an environment with enemies rather than just trying to kill them.

Hm, a buddy and I might be getting into this game after seeing some videos

The minis that really speak to me are Nomad, and by the sound of it hacking is really useful in this edition of the game.

I want to field forces composed exclusively of either people in power armour or people wearing smooth, faceless helmets.

The third statement is a bit harder in Nomads. They tend to be a lot of specialist medium infantry and bullshit over big chunky dudes in power armour.

Though I guess Corregidor would be the place to go if you want Nomad paintrain lists but like, at that point just play YJ or Pan-O for more interesting HI than Brigada's.

@Evil Multifarious As long they can be power armor OR featureless masks, Nomads can do that.

A combination will do just fine.

I love the smooth helmet look (spektrs, intruders, etc) and apparently their medium infantry is their specialty, so that's perfect.

The newest heavy infantry with the HMG and the sword look dope too, I dig those.

The guy who is in a large TAG and then can emerge wearing another, smaller suit of power armour, like some kind of ballistic Russian doll, is also delightful.

Buddy and I are splitting on the Pan O / Nomad starter so that should be a good start!

Still, not a bad table for Icestorm/Red Veil level games. One or two more large buildings will close a lot of the gaps too and put it on about the level of terrain the Spanish use.

Yeah that wasn't one of the Icestorm/Red Veils. That was a 150 point "we're still learning the rules" game. I think we could probably stand to use some more cover however, since we've had issues with Tuaregs and Spetsnazeseses doing mean things from on high. Also means more LoF blocking for my battlejorts teenwolf.
