Hear me cur. I am Moloch.

I am your better. You do not know this of course. But then, a fly cannot distinguish his superiors. He knows only that he must consume filth.

The battle for the throne has begun.
My legions are vast and powerful.

My generals without peer.

Your cause is without hope. Yet I encourage you to stand and bring war, or at least kneel and beg.

My excellence must be demonstrated before the wretched Conclave.

I grow tired of their bleating.
For base and ignorant creatures like you, the Infernal Conclave's rules and regulations have been provided
here. I suggest you read it. Perhaps a thrall can help with the larger words. For further hand holding,
look here wretch.
This bores me. Any inquiries should be made to one of my minions. You will find them as useless as I do.

Solium Infernum is the latest
Vic Davis release. He's the guy who made Armageddon Empires which I never played, but I hear is good. I know Solium Infernum is good, and you should be playing it with me. Quick disclaimer, if you don't have this game already play the demo to see if it's for you. But first, READ THE MANUAL. This game hates you, it has no tutorial, no tool tips, and no trail of breadcrumbs leading you to your next objective.
I'm tired of destroying the shitty AI. Lets get some games going.
Google Wave was basically made for PBeM games so I would like to use it. I have a bunch of invites so I can get you set up.
If you want in my game PM me your email address and whether or not you need a Wave invite. Game slots are first come first serve. Once my game is full someone is welcome to host a new one and I'll add the info to the OP so we can keep track if you want.
Please make sure you have read the manual and understand the basics of the game before you sign up. Play a few single player games so you're not completely unprepared for real players. If you do find yourself getting destroyed try to stick it out, things can change pretty quickly in SI, and maybe you can become a blood vassal and try for second place. If you just can't handle it you can turn your fiend over to the AI, but that's no fun for anybody.

It's really not that hard to learn. I bought it just recently and while the UI is a little unintuitive, a once over of the manual and keeping it open while I played made it pretty simple to figure out. Now I mostly just crack open the manual to remind myself what <insert obscure manual/ritual> does.

The game just doesn't make a lot of concessions to usability that we expect these days. But since it's programmed and designed by one dude and made specifically for turn based strategy nerds you can't fault him too much.
I'm personally not a big turn based strategy guy, but the concept and art really grabbed me. It turns out that the game design is also absolutely brilliant. I don't think I've ever played a game that forces you to make brutally hard decisions on a constant basis.
We need to get some games going.
The folks on SomethingAwful have mostly only had success doing it in pseudo-real time with a group all in IRC chattering as the turns are sent.

How hard is it to check google wave once a day though dang.
About as hard as it is to fail to check a Play By Post D&D game every day. And people fail to do that all the time in Critical Failures. :P
Never underestimate lethargy/procrastination/etc.

I enjoyed this game, and I don't feel bad about buying it, but the AI isn't strong enough and it would really be great if it had server based multiplayer of some sort, so that you can work through a game in a few hours instead of weeks - months.
To be fair I got a really lucky break at the beginning of the game and got the event that gives you a ton of extra tribute cards so I bought a bunch of stat points early.
A PBEM manager
and
Livesync
They might be useful for running games more efficiently.
I've been looking into using wave to keep updating the available turns, but I think standard email might work better, at least that way you have some notification that a turn has been sent out. If we start playing in a pseudo-real time format, google wave would be more useful, especially if we were in some sort of chat client as well. Personally I'd love to try that.
I'm currently running a PBEM game thats on around turn 20 right now. Its going well, there has been the occasional delay because of the holidays, but a 4 player game seems sustainable. I'd love to get in on another game, either real time or long haul. Just PM me and I'll send you my email.
Edit: Here are the instructions for using livesync for SI
Livesync Instructions
vvv The AI has improved a good deal since the first release, though its still pretty easy to beat. A standard play by email game only takes around 15 minutes a day to keep up with. This game isnt much of a time-sink at all.
Wave basically is a chat client you can see what people type in real time so if more than one person is using it at once you can shoot the shit or do some scheming. Gmail has a chat client as well.
Well we have two people interested at least, hopefully some more will give the demo a try. And yeah the time commitment for a multiplayer game is fairly short considering you can knock out a turn in a couple minutes. I play plenty of games for hours on end.
Well, it's not real time multiplayer so it's not like you're tied down in the way you would be for most MP games.
Here it is
I'll find out when I pick up SI later in the week!
If I buy this game (which - if I do before the 30th, I save an incredible $5USD), what are the odds I'll be able to find some of you yonks to play with me?

the game i was hosting fell apart because of slowdown and then christmas, as PBEMs tend to do
Holy shit, do we have 4 interested parties here in the last few posts alone?

Thing is, I'm trying to organise a game between IRL friends; none of us have actually played SL yet, and I'd rather keep it that way, if I can. Wouldn't want an unfair advantage, would I?
I'm also up for another game. I want to try a new build, since my current one isn't serving me too well.
The one I'm hosting is at 11/15 tokens, and I'm not sure who'll win yet.
Dragoran has an uber praetor and a powerful legon, so I'm betting him. But He's only up by around 30 prestige. I don't think Sander's triple threat turn went so well. He's down a praetor, and it was the one he was going to use to fight me. He's still got the best prestige growth though, thanks to some relics he picked up early. Roxtar is trailing, but he might just be biding his time. He has the power to decide if at least one of the other players loses, and I think he wants my temple of lust.
I suggest we start posting about awesome things we do, or have done to us in our games. It'll keep the thread alive, and get more people playing.
edit: buying now. This coupon code appears to be working for anyone who is interested in five bucks off: BNEO000B9
Dragoran is running a forbidden knowledge Ritual. He's got a massive prestige income, and the best praetor in play right now. At this point, he might just have to worry about Kingmakers. Sander seems to have lost out slightly on his series of praetor duels, two losses and one win. Me and Roxtar are lining up for a duel ourselves.
Either everyone is going to find a way to drain Dragoran's resources and stop the ritual, or we're gonna be fighting for second place.
I'm considering injecting some life into this thread by bringing it up in the boardgames thread in CF - even though there is no paper version I think there'd be a lot of love from there.
I haven't heard anything past whats in the thread already. Someone totally needs to get on that. I'd do it myself, but I'm afraid of mixing up the files with the game I'm hosting right now. Anyone hosting a new game, PM me and I'll pm my email back.
I like that boardgames idea. SI is a lot like a more complicated board game, and it appeals to the same instincts in me.
(I know, I know! Bad nerd!)
EDIT: To make up for it, I just bought the game.
Just installed and played a game against AI. Some confusing bits:
1) How do I see how many tokens have been drawn so far?
2) How do I see the prestige income my opponents have been getting? Can I even?
I don't know if there is a per-turn count but the Diplomacy screen will show you where everyone stands currently, that's what I use to keep up.
I think I have a billion invites to Wave, feel free to PM me.
