Resizing images for the web (for the tech-unsavvy)

Generally, if I want to send a large amount of photos to someone in a short period of time, I will first resize and compress them with IrfanView's batch process, or use Picasa to upload them to an album. Unfortunately, it's not easy to teach my girlfriend how to do this, and she often has photos from our most recent trip that she wants to send to me.

Is there any simple program that can compress photos automatically? For example, a user just drags the photos onto the program's icon or window, and it resizes them all to a max of, say, 1024x768 and compresses them, putting them into a new folder or a zip file that she can then send to me.

Are you saying Picasa's resize & upload is too user unfriendly for her? I thought that was a pretty simple process.

Imageshack also lets you resize as you upload to a gallery, but I don't see how that would be any easier than Picasa's method.

Oh, what about Flickr? Their uploader has a resizing feature.
