I don't mind the recycled sales since i missed stalker and defense grid.
Here's the thing i'm wondering... I bought bioshock off of D2D's anniversery sale for $5 but the problem is that every single time i launch it I am forced to reenter my activation code. If i bought it on steam could I simply start the download, stop it after it generates the folders and move the game to there and have it be recognized as steam's version?
CoH: Tales of Valor (will most likely buy the others before the end of today)
If you're interested in their singleplayer campaigns (which are considerably longer than the oh so short ToV one). For multiplayer you already unlocked everything with Tales of Valor.

Dammit, I know steam is overloaded but take my freaking money already. How can I buy anything when I don't know how poor I am? So besides the Witcher and excommunicate pack, what else should I get. I don't want torchlight ATM and if I was going to get anything at this point, I want it to be really mixable.
"yeah man sure I'll grab RA3 for you. when I'm done playing this campaign"
(six hours later, a message half an hour before the timer ends) "hey man I couldn't remember what you asked me to get, maybe if you contact me on time"

I'd be amazed if you were that lucky
I doubt it. There is a way to get the constant activation to stop though, try D2D's Support site.
Looks like I cut things a little too close on the funding, so now I've got to make a choice. The Witcher + some combination of $2.50 - $5 items, likely to include the LucasArts adventure bundle, or Machinarium + Jedi Knight Collection.
EDIT: Or I could piss it all away on Dawn of War 2.
I wonder how many new customers Steam pulled in because of these sales? I'm not big on PC gaming and I'd never used Steam before, but these sales were just too good to resist. I am now the proud owner of:
Torchlight
Republic Commando
Jedi Knight Bundle
Freedom Force vs The 3rd Reich
Mass Effect
Jade Empire
Tomb Raider: Legend

I'd say Witcher, the Lucasarts adventure bundle. Braid, and World of Goo. 20$ total.

Don't spend it all on DoW 2. The single player is good for a few replays but that's all. The multiplayer is broken beyond repair.

So in the end, I purchased the following games on their special sale days:
Serious Sam HD
Zombie Driver
Killing Floor
Mr. Robot
Civilization IV Complete Edition
Multiwinia
Red Alert 3
Red Alert 3 Expansion
Regular sale games:
World in Conflict Complete
Harvest: Massive Encounter
The Witcher
Chronicles of Riddick
X-Com: UFO Defense
I also purchased 4 copies of Defense Grid for friends on its original sale day, and Serious Sam and Darwinia+Multiwinia for my fiancee.
My Steam folder is currently sitting at 264 GB right now and I haven't yet downloaded Riddick or The Witcher yet.
And now, a testament to my poor impulse control. Since this sale started, I've bought:
Borderlands: Island Of Dr. Ned DLC, Burnout Paradise: Ultimate Box, Command & Conquer 3: Red Alert, Defense Grid: The Awakening, Freedom Force 2-Pack, Grand Theft Auto IV, Hearts Of Iron III, Jade Empire, Left 4 Dead 2, Lumines, Luxor 3, Red Faction: Guerrilla, Saints Row 2, Shattered Horizon, Star Wars: KOTOR, Star Wars: Republic Commando, Torchlight and Zombie Driver.
For $135.50. $7.14 per game.
I don't know if I should thank Steam or delete it from my computer for the good of my bank account.
I was just a little disappointed that Psychonauts wasn't in the sale.
I only bought 5 or so games from this sale. The Witcher, the oddworld pack, the star wars jedi knight pack, jade empire, and morrowind. I think I would've bought more if I had more money in Paypal, but I didn't. That's probably a good thing that I only had so much.

Is CoH: Tales of Valor worth 15$? I've got vanilla and opposing fronts and play infrequently, mostly in bursts with friends over ventrilo. What interests me most are the 3 new multiplayer modes. Anybody played it and can offer opinions?
Unreal pack
id Super pack
Jedi Knight pack
Dragon Aids: Deluxe Ed
Heroes of Might and Magic 5 pack
Civilization 4 pack
Torchlight
Osmos
Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars
Command and Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath
STALKER
Killing Floor
Defense Grid
Grand Theft Auto 4
Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3
Think that's enough for now. I'm afraid to see what my steam account is worth tomorrow after the sale is over
Problem solved, The Witcher + LucasArts Adventure Pack + Oddworld bundle. As tempting as the others were, they were 50% off when these were better sales. World of Goo and Braid were good suggestions, but I already had them.
I'm not looking forward to counting up my total damage.
Disappointed that Starscape didn't end up on sale, especially after Mr. Robot did. I would have been happy with a regular sale, not even a daily.

Of those 3 modes I like Panzer Krieg, the other two are terrible - but the problem is people hardly play them online.
Looks like they aren't checking the country anymore when you purchase with Visa, ie. anyone can buy from the UK and US storefront (if you change the country).
Unless the repercussions only show up 2-3 days from now.

Is there any particular reason I'd want to check out the UK storefront?
Also, I'm thinking about getting The Witcher and Oblivion today. Is the Deluxe Edition the way to go with Oblivion?
Some games are cheaper on the UK storefront, but US is the cheapest overall.
For EUR both are interesting because of '1 EUR = 1 USD'. Going with GBP is the safest bet though considering all the other EUR transactions happen via Steamgames London too.
[I missed this new thread. Reposting from the very end of the old one]
I ended up with 18 games and 2 expansion packs for just $50. Very satisfied. Hopefully this will become a Christmas gaming tradition for years to come.
I'm thinking about going back for some more but I'm on the fence about it. If anyone has any opinions on the following that might sway me one way or another, I'd be interested in hearing them:
The Witcher
ArmA
Dark Messiah Might and Magic
Republic Commando
Zeno Clash
An X-Com game (I'd probably go for one over the pack, but I'm not sure which)
The Void
Commandos 3
Puzzle Quest
Zombie Shooter 2 (I've already got Alien Shooter 2, but I'm not sure if it's worth it to have both)

And once again (new thread, new spam), give the demo of Altitude a shot. Gives a pretty good impression of the full game which I find awesome.

GOG has it on sale.
I thought I had, just tried again, will try again, you just c&p the code into the sig window right?

So guys, apart from Bioshock, are there any other $5 games that I need to grab before this sale is over?
STALKER. Mass Effect.
Own both of those already.
I am up to $1000, today.
And I am just about to buy even more stuff.
Unless the repercussions only show up 2-3 days from now.
Commandos 2
Evil Genius
Medieval II: Total War
Splinter Cell
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
Silent hunter 3
For under $5 games

Steam employees probably get sick discount / free games.
