Gah, I hardly even know what Defence Grid is and I bought it. I'm not big on Tower Defence games, but apparentley Plants Vs Zombies was one and I adore that game. I'm willing to take a chance on another TD game with great production values.
Gah 45 games for ~$130 I would have felt better had i not caved on the Eidos pack.
No no no, do not have buyer's remorse. I bought the Eidos pack despite already playing through Batman, and not really caring to play the other games in the pack.
This thread really makes me wish I could play games on my PC. My setup's been largely the same since 2004:
CPU: Athlon 64 3500+
1 GB Corsair single channel RAM
nForce4 Micro-Star Socket 939 motherboard
GPU: Sapphire Radeon X800
XP Professional
Worked great for Half Life 2 and its expansions, but it runs Spore like it's underwater and I haven't even bothered to look at a way to upgrade it, seems like a huge overhaul would be necessary.
The witcher looks awesome, however I don't have the funds for it due to other purchases, bah humbug. What are the chances of it going on sale again anytime soon? I was also disappointed in the sales today, I was expecting a huge last day, but I did pick up a few awesome games this sale as well.
I'm still debating picking up KOTOR and defense grid, i think i can swing those two games. This has been a great sale so far, picked up a few awesome deals, so far ive bought:
Popcap Collection
Jade Empire
Mass Effect
Evil Genius
all in all a nice haul. I do wish the witcher was cheaper though, was really hoping itd be on sale today for ~$5 but such is steam.

You wouldnt be looking at an upgrade as you would be looking at building a new computer.
Man...these prices are ridiculous, I now have a backlog of games that I won't get around to playing til sometime in 2013.
Of all my purchases, the only one I've actually played for a measurable amount of time is Evil Genius, and I keep getting stuck (can't find the 3rd crime lord and the opposition's getting insane at invading my base). I'll post my whole purchase history when I get home, but it isn't pretty.

Yeah, but it's not as expensive as you might think. you could probably do something for $400 ish, sans a new OS/Harddrive optical drives Just proc (50-75 if you go AMD) Ram (50 for 2gb, easy) vidcard (100 for a 4850 or similar) and mobo which vary wildy. You would probably need a new Power supply as well. so thats up to 400ish. err..but if thats too much then your basically SOL....that said your rig is powerful enough to run a great many of the games we've been talking about. Just the bleeding edge stuff from bioshock on up would give you trouble.
Games I bought
Morrowind Game of the Year
Universe at War: Earth Assault
Mass Effect
Sid Meier's Civilization IV: The Complete Edition
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky
Torchlight
Battlefield 2
Evil Genius
X3: Terran Conflict
Defense Grid: The Awakening
Alpha Prime
Games I recieved as Gifts
Grand Theft Auto IV
Shattered Horizon
Braid
Games I bought as Gifts
Max Payne Bundle
Alpha Prime
Cogs x2
Games I bought:
The Void
Thief: Deadly Shadows
Prince of Persia Pack
Mass Effect

Star Wars Pack
Left 4 Dead 2
Grand Theft Auto IV
Risk II
Games that were gifted to me:

Oops, this is embarrassing. Due to high demand we have temporarily run out of unique keys for this title. You may, by all means, purchase at the awesome sale price but may not be able to play until we receive more unique product keys. It shouldn't take too long, we have sent armed guards to the publisher's house to get them out of bed, drive them to their secret lair and produce more keys.
I feel like I should stop buying PC games during the year, and just wait for this sale from now on. Save myself hundreds of dollars.
Also console games that will eventually get inferior PC versions on Steam.

PC ports from consoles seem to have two trends:
•They're poorly optimized, so you'll need stronger hardware than you should
•In the long run, they often get nifty mods and such, and prove to be a better investment because of it
Also, Steam and the whole "can redownload, don't worry about physical media" benefit. And KBAM for FPS.

Totally agree about the mods, Steam and KBAM. Just irks me some of them are shamelessly ported..

I really see no point in buying a new release. I have the self control and it pays huge dividends. I get the game for a lower price, a patch or three will have been released, detailed FAQs and walkthrus will be available if I get stuck, and the community will have had a chance to thoroughly play the game and provide more honest reviews than anything you will find on a gaming website or in a gaming mag. Torchlight is the only game in recent memory that I bought within 3 months of its release. Between Steam sales, GoG, GoGamer sales, Craigslist, and the bargain bin at my local brick and mortar I can't even begin to count how much I have saved. Lots of awesome games released recently, I'll probably get around to playing them this summer.

I would never ever want to play games like Oblivion and Fallout 3 on anything other than a PC. The mods for those games add so much to the experience that playing them on a console would feel like punishing myself.
I still can't believe the only game I picked up was Street Fighter IV. There were some ridiculously good sales over the last week or so. If Eufloria had a 75% or so discount I might have cracked, but it didn't.

I paid $5 for STALKER and thought it was an awesome deal. It is easily worth $20, and $2 is a no brainer. Buy if only to play it in a dark room, at night, and have the shit scared out of you repeatedly. And not stupid closet monster scares like DOOM 3, I mean Blair Witch Project out in the forest by yourself with snot running down your face cause you are crying like a little girl scared.

Still. Worth. It.

I MUST PLAY THIS GAME NOW!
And space carrots. It's pretty sweet, though. And none of the races play remotely alike, it's awesome.
Whenever my friend plays as the space dolphins, he's the Aquatic Alliance.
I already own it on disc, but I bought it anyway just so I'd have it on STEAM.
