I don't the recycled sales since i missed stalker and defense grid.
Here's the thing i'm wondering... I bought bioshock off of D2D's anniversery sale for $5 but the problem is that every single time i launch it I am forced to reenter my activation code. If i bought it on steam could I simply start the download, stop it after it generates the folders and move the game to there and have it be recognized as steam's version?
I'd be amazed if you were that lucky
I doubt it. There is a way to get the constant activation to stop though, try D2D's Support site.
Yeah you can do it. It's gonna redownload a few files, but it should work. I'd delete the exe just in case.
Ugh, is Witcher worth getting dangerously close to $0 in my bank account for a few hours before I deposit some more tomorrow?
I would also like to know about The Witcher. I've heard a lot of good things. I don't normally like a lot of WRPGs, but I actually found myself loving Dragon Age, so I'm eager to get a bit more into the genre. How's The Witcher hold up? How's the story? How's the world?

The Witcher is really god damned good.
This, a million times. If you think, at all, that you might enjoy it, or like RPGs even a little, you owe it to yourself to get this, on the cheap.

The story and the world are the best parts of The Witcher, and are similar in tone (if more prone to humor and gratuitous nudity) to Dragon Age's dark fantasy.
While Dragon Age is a great game, I did spend a lot of time saying "wow, this is almost written as well as The Witcher."

I own Riddick: Butcher's Bay for Xbox, but haven't played it.
How is Dark Athena?
(yes, I'm in the last phase of the sale, where I'm asking for people's opinions on -EVERYTHING-.)

Eh i figured out the problem with it making me reactivate every time i loaded it up and I just can't see doubling my monetary investment in the game just to change my steam status from Now playing: Non-steam game: Bioshock to Now Playing: bioshock

worth the price of admission. the original with the updated graphics and the added stuff for the PC version is the main draw but DA was fun as well if a little inferior. Both together are worth the money. If I didn't have them already in physical form I'd go for it.
the witcher at $13 is a good deal? I'm obviously spoiled from the sale but I wanted to ask.
It's a fucking great deal at $40, much less $13. Some people bought the game twice (once when it first came out, once for the EE) just because the developers are so awesome (because they didn't have to buy the Enhanced Edition, you see, they could have just downloaded the EE stuff from their website but instead chose to buy another copy of the game and support the devs because the game is so good).

You guys aren't helping me resist it at the endcap to my steam sale...
How does it compare to Bioware RPG's? Or Square RPG's?
So - this one totally slipped me by, but FUEL is £3.00 (or probably a shade under $5). Reviews were...mixed, but you got an area half the size of Wales to dick around in, and it's only a few months old.

The Witcher makes pre-Dragon Age Bioware RPGs look like trash and Dragon Age look like a fanboyish imitation. Alright, maybe that's exaggerating just a bit. No offense, Bioware. But it's still pretty goddamn amazing.
Square... well, I'll just say that Square does not make RPGs that are comparable to the type of RPG that The Witcher is. You do not come to that game looking for a JRPG.

It was £14.99 at the start of the sale.

Pretty sure it does.

All right, people. It is not a gerbil. It is not a hamster. It is not a guinea pig. It is a death rabbit. Death. Rabbit. Say it with me, now.

Either version is great, but the remake of Butcher Bay is definitely prettier enough to be worth it. The extra campaign has its moments too.
Maybe time to change the thread title?

So I do get the remake of Butcher Bay if I get Dark Athena? Admittedly I'd love to play it on my huge-ass monitor instead of my small-ass SDTV.
I'm not sure that will work but let us know how that goes. :P
Indeed. Dark Athena is "Butcher Bay Remake + new campaign".
New multiplayer too, but that's not really a big draw for me.
Oh and the Riddick game has that install limit BS on PC, only reason I haven't bought it.

Oh well, at least LFD2 is back up. I missed it the first time.
The harder the rain, honey, the sweeter the sun.

edit - since I'm spending I think I'll get defense grid. might as well have a boss tower defense style game for when I'm ibn the mood.
And thanks slim for the amazing DiRT2. It's really good.
Yeah, it's definitely worth the 5 dolers.
I'll keep quoting this until you have all bought The Witcher
Yes you
Unlike Bioware and Square RPGs, The Witcher is well written.
Good friggin' deal, though. Twenty games for $50 with some great titles.
Also got Braid, since I've heard a lot of good things about it.
Electronic composer for hire.
