Keep in mind that if you do run the transfer, it will erase all data on the target drive. And when it's done, it will erase all data on the source drive.
So make sure there is nothing on the new drive that either cannot be easily replaced, backed up, or isn't important enough to care about.
Well right now its just the music I've redownloaded. I'm not going to bother with the cable cause I'm not gonna drop 15 on something I'm only gonna use once
I'm pretty sure you can still get one for free if you contact MS support. There might even be folks on this board willing to send you the kit if you ask around. It's up to you, but there are alternatives.
Well I had to get a new xbox entirely since the video card burned out, so now I have an elite.
If you bought a new xbox entirely you don't need any of this junk. Take off your old HD, and put it on the new xbox. Then you just have to go to the online form to transfer your licenses to allow you to redownload DLC. You don't need any transfer kit for saves, just put on your old HD.
Transfer kits are largely for if you're upgrading to a bigger drive, not for blown up xboxes.

License migration is a different issue. I know if I had an HDD full of saves I'd probably rather copy them to the new HDD than lose them entirely (but in that case, I'd just wait for the thumbdrive support). Plus, it's still better to have the full DLC on the new drive and just download the 'updated' license after migration than to download the whole thing a second time.

Meh *shrug*, unless he's redone his licenses some other time in the last year it's a hell of a lot quicker than waiting for a transfer kit to be shipped. I had a few hundred songs and was good to go in 15 minutes.
Edit: I guess the problem here is he went with an elite, where if he had gotten an arcade he'd already been done. So he both has to transfer licenses and saves, a console change and a HD upgrade. Unless he doesn't need to use the new elite HD for a while.
Eh, it's fun for the "I'm singing the That 70s Show theme!" effect but the song isn't one of my favorites.
Everytime El Goodo or September Gurls comes on my mp3 player I'm pretty much compelled to sing / air guitar / air drum along. Might as well score some points for it :P
Know what would be awesome on Rock Band? Failure's cover of Enjoy The Silence. You know a cover's good when the band whose song it is says it's better than the original.
HMXHenry: So this is a tremendous treat for me, and hopefully for you guys as well, Gwar, I'm not sure if it's been announced yet, is coming to Rock Band Network. Did you have a hand in this at all?
Oderus Urungus: Well, yeah, I'm in the band.
HMXH: Oh, well, did you have a hand in bringing the song to Rock Band Network.
OU: Actually, I had no idea it was even in there. But many times I sit there and I play that f***ing game, and I suck at it. And I sit there and think, "Maybe if I was doing a Gwar song, I wouldn't suck so bad. So yes, I understand we're doing "Gor-Gor" or something and it's gonna be f***ing awesome.
HMXH: It's going to be tremendous. I'm very excited. Do you guys have any plans to release any more songs in Rock Band Network?
OU: Well I think if we had it our way, it'd be an entire f***ing rock star thing all about Gwar. In fact, there would be no other songs allowed, except maybe Diamanda Galas. Have you got Diamanda Galas in Rock Band?
HMXH: No, not yet. Hopefully soon, though. Fingers crossed.
The thing about using the link instead of the in-game store is that not everything that shows up on the website is technically 'live'. Some have been pulled and yet to reappear. And so far, HMX doesn't update in-game on the weekends (though we know they're in Boston now). If people buy this and it doesn't get approved, then they'll have to buy the new version that ends up available if they want to play it with anybody. That's why as long as I continue to post the new songs, I'll stop listing the website only ones.
MGA is probably no more, The business side of things just never got rolling ... [...] I am not sure what happened to the bands but all of them we're un-contracted so they will probably be snapped up by other authoring groups very quickly.
Well the problem is now that I did the license transfer, if I put the old HDD on the new Xbox it says something about it not being registered or some crap
So I know we've all mentioned it off-hand in the past, but I just glanced at my Amazon page and saw that my Alphabeat CD would be arriving on Monday, which got me to thinking: How much has Rock Band affected what I listen to, really? As in, what bands have I become a fan of as a result of Rock Band, outside the domains of whatever songs they released in-game?
So, I thought I'd go through my RB library and make a list of just such bands:
Alphabeat
Blondie
Cross Canadian Ragweed
Drive-By Truckers
Freezepop (in conjunction with other Harmonix titles)
Jimmy Buffett
Juli
Kaiser Chiefs
Neko Case
The New Pornographers
Oasis
Panic at the Disco
Phoenix
The Police
The Pretenders
Queens of the Stone Age
Squeeze
Vampire Weekend
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Yellowcard
Not quite as extensive as I thought, but still. Because of Rock Band, my music library is now 20 artists richer
If I had RB, I'd think that I would never buy DLC from a band I'd never heard of. Perhaps I'd listen to Youtube videos of their stuff and THAT would broaden my musical horizons. It's all by the proxy of RB, but not RB per se.
I've purchased four or five albums after hearing the artists in Rock Band, but a lot of the time I find out the song in Rock Band is the only thing I really like by them. :P

This happened with me, though I didn't purchase them
A friend let me borrow some Grateful Dead albums though, and...yeesh
I can't even stand the Grateful Dead DLC. Garrison Keillor put it best when he said it was 23-minute renditions of four minute songs meant for people who liked many-colored shirts and long ponytails.

Come on, you all know that you want to belt out the Ballad of El Goodo. September Gurls too.
You are ignoring In The Street and I don't know why.

Granted, that's a cover, but it's still their music
Here, let me help you rectify this sad state of affairs:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNKSs1J38EA
edit: O My Soul would probably be the most rock-band-able song, or one of the more difficult their catalog has to offer anyway
The only part of that theme song I recognized is where they throw in the bit from Cheap Trick's "Surrender" at the end

"The winner?' you might well be asking yourselves...
Of course, the manly men also need to complain about the other dead horse.

What I noticed was that the RBN songs in the RB2 location all have the album cover as their icon, rather than the RB2 icon. Awesome little touch.

Maybe Green Jellö/ÿ isn't too far behind? (Via)
but holy shit I would kill for some Green Jello
Steam Support is the worst. Seriously, the worst
I think that could only be done with an in game infected penis. Seriously, Gwar is dumb, but pretty fun. Bring Back the Bomb would totally rule.

I have 549 Rock Band Drum and 305 Pro Drum FC's

Don't know if that price cut is permanent, so there you go.
Still haven't seen any of the mythical 10$ drum sets though.

I think we have four of them for the 360.

Hopefully someone else snatches it up, that song rules
BUT
I don't remember how to calibrate RB1 any more, and putting in the settings from RB2 does not result in a smooth, buttery sync.
EDIT: Using their pre-set LCD TV setttings, however, does! I am happily surprised.
