Better than Wii Sports?

Man would I love to see the Wii-njurys that would pop up if a home version of this came out.

From www.kickasskungfu.net

Kick Ass Kung-Fu is an immersive game installation that transforms computer gaming into a visual, physical performance like dance or sports. You can fight and defy gravity like kung-fu movie actors - only there's no wires or post-production needed, thanks to the real-time embodied interaction and virtual set technology.

How does it work?

howworks.gif

Features:
Control the game with your own movements - actually, it's your own figure in the play!
Total freedom to move, jump and kick - no wires needed!
Perform film style gigantic leaps - you are not constrained by real world physics!
Computer vision technology analyzes the power of impacts and damage. The technology works with any number of simultaneous players and with weapons such as swords and nunchakus.
Use your voice and special poses for devastating chi-energy attacks.
The game takes place on a 5 meter cushioned playfield suitable for martial arts and acrobatics training. Using custom computer vision technology, you are taken inside an artificial reality where the normal laws of physics no longer apply. Your movements are exaggerated so that you can easily dodge your opponent's bullets by jumping five meters in the air and landing behind his back. Using the dual projected screens, one at each end of the playfield, you can also continue by counter-attacking your stupefied enemy from the behind.

Kick Ass Kung-Fu is a herald of a new era of computer games as spectator sports, a new rise of the arcade after the past years of yielding to home entertainment. The installation has been exhibited in Kiasma Theatre in Museum of Contemporary Art, Helsinki, Finland. It has also been used in a television show where Finnish celebrities competed in the game.

    Stop being worthless.

    This product looks...worthless.
How does the super jumping work? I imagine someone jumping and then the background of the game moving really fast to the next position. It'll look dumb, though, because the person jumping is still going to have their standard hang-time from jumping in reality.

Hey, if God had sent an angel down to the principal's office that said, "Don't fire the bitch, the big man knocked her up." I am sure he would have given it due consideration.

I'm not so sure it was them sucking as much as it was playing a game where you have to flail around in front of a blue screen is really hard. I bet TV weathermen would own us all at that shit.

hmm, ro me, that doesn't look like it would be much fun once you realise that all you are doing is flailing, and the people doing kung-fu arent actually hitting anything.

Seriously, this sounds just like the version of Tekken they had setup at Gameworks about 10 years ago. it was really primative and it was basically doing movements instead of pressing buttons... it wasn't like you were the dude doing the stuff it was more like you punched instead of pressing A. Not all that fun.

edit: watching the video this seems like more advanced technology. The main question they are going to be faced with is "is it fun?". particularly for people who aren't ninjas for their day job.

I've played this. It's really fun. I usually die when Ghandi comes in with his space laser.
