It's not even one persistent world. The game is instanced.
Yea, that's a good point. Not only that, it's three instances that are not that big.
To be fair, this is the first MMO I've heard of with sports cars in it. I imagine that being forced to walk across zones for 80 levels might make it feel a lot bigger :P
I looked around but couldn't find any articles talking about their engine choice. Is there an interview anywhere with the reason they switched to Unreal 3 over the RenderWare engine they used for Crackdown?
I'll take "Famous Video Game Publisher Companies that start with E" for $400.
Meh, I know it's really easy to blame EA, but they only partnered last year and the game has been in development long before that.

Nah, CoX, ChO, and Auto Assault are all games that have/had a lot of fast travel, it's not so uncommon anymore.
And while I don't know if the zones are much smaller than CoX's, I do know CoX launched with about 18 of them and had 2 more a few months later.
Y'all silly geeses need to start playing again. The patch helped and I need people to soak bullets so I can hike my kaydees. I started an Enf alt "Pooh", but I'm on Winnie pretty often still.
They did not. And that really isn't a bad thing that I've seen thus far (because of the changes).
They do need to fix that issue we ran into earlier, you know that one that involved a shotgun and cross faction communication. I could see that being abused though it was pretty hilarious.
Also, please continue playing all of you, or at least three of you, because it is pretty good times.
Think I might switch from the APB bandwagon to GW2 or SWOR. GW2 is free to play and is no longer instanced with you know, better everything, but SWOR has spaceships and lightsabors.

When was it ever said GW2 would be free to play?
Edit: Nevermind, saw it's in the FAQ. Huh... seems far more complex for them to be making it free.

I keep logging on and nobody in the list posted earlier is ever on. Sadface.
I just installed the new NVidia drivers that are supposed to make APB run better than the molasses pit it currently is. Will report back.
Working the bugs out before adding a ton of content is a good way to go. Otherwise you've got WAR with tons of content that no one can play because of massive memory leaks and collision code that gets you stuck on every rock, fence, and bush in the zone.
Its GTA, which I usually play by blowing up cars for half an hour until the police get me. So if you're looking for raid progression and armor set bonuses, might not be the game for you.
That said, I hope they have the tools in place to add a ton of content quickly. Its kind of like Eve, but you can't make a zone with just 3 planets hanging out in the middle of nowhere.

I think my experience has led me to the opposite conclusion - bugs can be fixed, but if players have already gotten bored by the end of their first month (or 2 weeks or however long 50 hours will last them), they're gone. CoH had enough content at launch to last me 3-4 months, WoW I didn't play but probably had similar. TR had a great combat system but I did almost all their content in about 2 weeks of beta, and look where that went.

True, but the new business model and release date being pushed forward were announced lately and smack of publisher pressure. EA hears "servers" and "PC game" and goes "MONTHLY FEE, IT'S AN MMO"

Remember when it was supposed to be out last year? Or in March? The release date was not pushed forward.

Well if it was last year and now its this year, thats forward right? it wasn't pushed backwards!?
Hey, since the APB-Support can't help me and nobody responses in the official apb forums maybe somebody here could send me the "Banners.upk.zip". I can't download that file and always get an error. Please please?
So we get stiff once in a while. So we have a little fun. What’s wrong with that? This is a free country, isn’t it? I can take my panda any place I want to. And if I wanna buy it a drink, that’s my business.

So is the NDA still being enforced despite the impending release? I'd like to confirm my experience with playing the beta one night, because It basically went like this.

I was in-game and said "wow, this is running really bad".
I was immediately told by about 30 people how I am a dumb ass kiddie with a POS PC,how I should shut the fuck up and how the "game is only 30% done you idiot, this is a BETA!".
I then told them that the release date was next month.
Probably won't have time to play this game anyhow, but after noticing that there's now a release date I was curious to see info from the beta. Sounds like the launch is gonna be crap (which typically = death in the MMO genre), but hopefully the devs can get things together within a month or two after launch (good luck). Anyone actually found any strong positives about the game thus far?

Looks like the pants are getting changed today, coming back at 7pm PST.

Had some good times, though.

Not like, hit points and agility modifiers and stuff, but it's hard to explain without breaking the NDA.

edit: Upon reviewing the thread and all the doom doom doom it seems like there may not be a point :0
After that...the interest of my friends and was instantly deflated =|
I have been interested in it for a long time, but I will not shell out $50 for a cool character creator and nothing more.
Though that character creator is really really cool...........
It has a Car editor too.
Would one of those people mind giving me a key?........ or their key?

No one answered.
Any chance you are running an SLI/Crossfire video card setup?
