Some people are getting really good with the music editor. I almost bought a tone-perfect rendition of Hall and Oates' "Private Eyes" the other day, but I'm holding out for Beastie Boys' "Sabotage" (like many of you, I'm sure).

A fun thing to do if you've only got a short while to play is drive around returning stolen cars. It's strangely compelling.

Yeah, I've invited one or two people who are aware of and check out PA, but aren't forum goers per say, but meh, friends IRL. Also, Donkey Kong opening tune as theme FTW. I did a few Mega Man ones, but the sound you need for most of its songs aren't quite available, which makes me :(.

I made one today. It's not perfect, but I'll send it to you. The only thing I couldn't get (from the intro) was droning guitar harmonic. Unfortunately, the "Rock Guitar" synths in the tune maker are total shit, and more often than not don't even play the note they are supposed to :/.

Anyone know of a reliable way to get notoriety up past level 4? I can get to maybe halfway up four by going apeshit on nearby cars and pedestrians with my SHAW light machine gun, but no further.

I want to get a squad of bountied criminals together and hole up in a building and see how long we can last.

I'm unsure if there's a trial or demo out yet, however the LFG system is probably the best in any MMO, ever. I've yet to go without a group after logging in.

It helps that the game will actually ask you if you want to be put into the LFG system on logging in, every time, unless you disable that feature.

Also, the actual "LFG" button isn't buried in the depths of a social menu. You hit escape, and have it right there, in front of you, along with every other major menu in the game. So pretty much everyone who isn't playing with friends is in it at all times.

Hell, even the option to disable the game asking you if you want to be put into the LFG system is right there on the menu that pops up when it asks you if you want to be put in the LFG system. MMO developers could learn a thing or two about clean interface design from Realtime Worlds.

It averages out to be pretty fun. There's insanely awesome times to be had, but it can get frustrating when you're matched against a better (or better equipped) team.

I must say as a criminal it can be a real pile occasionally, I was driving around and all it tried to offer me was assistance against gigantic enforcers and after I rejected a few of them I received no missions what so ever, when I went back to my contact I couldn't even talk to them because I rejected those missions. Then I got an APB on me and got killed by one of the guys the game wanted me to assist on.

Rank 131 w/three character upgrades and an OCA with three slots, after the second kill I just stood out in the street and got ran over by his Enforcer only Pioneer. I was rank 62 on my criminal. So occasionally it can really suck. But as an enforcer in a group it can be a real blast (although at one point we ended up fighting a group of criminals that was literally half our size (it was like seven or eight vs. three or four, make me think the assistance system can be a little special).

On a somewhat related note, has anyone with a female character unlocked the generic combat pants or the bulletproof vest, I've yet to see one of them on Zombie's marketplace and most criminals look like Luchadors so I have no good examples of them being around.

Starting to get frustrated on this. It's not the game, it's the players. I feel like I'm really working hard to make our missions be successful but most people don't help out enough to win against other organized teams. In the last two or three APBs I had around 15-20 kills and the least amount of deaths but other teammates float around 1-4 with around 2x the deaths I have. Not saying the guildies I play with are bad or anything, it's usually the extra pugs that join the group.

Some of the PUG's I play with in Waterfront (The district I prefer, since it has bloodroses rep as the default rep for Criminals.) are like this. It can be frustrating since Waterfront is where alot of the players with weapons like named N-Tecs like to hang out on Larocha.

The beautiful thing is that you can kick them if it's your mission. If they don't want to play, they can play solo. And I believe you can leave through the team menu, too.

On the other hand, i've scored some absolutely hilarious (And infuriating, for the Enforcers, if their VOIP chat is any indication.) victories thanks to AFKing PUGers.

My most recent ended up with me, alone, against three players, all with high end weapons. We were fighting in one of those "hold the checkpoint" missions where you either have to get so many kills, or hold the point when the time runs out.

I was getting stomped since they were camping the point, which was easily defendable, barring a few kills and captures I made, so I just used my platforming skills to jump to the roof of a building near the checkpoint. I hid there until twenty seconds was left on the timer, then leapt down into the circle and capped it. By the time they got to the point there was only five seconds left on the timer. It was a guaranteed win for me.

The cursing I could hear as I got near them after the mission was epic to behold. I got called everything from being a "fucking noob" (Because using tactics instead of running into an ambush guns blazing is cheating.) to being called a hacker.

I retaliated with the "You got punked!" dance emote. It did not improve their mood.

Wouldn't surprise me, it seems kind of doofy that a male character gets a forest of coats and glasses almost from the get go and my female charcter has yet to unlock one of the three coats or that darn bulletproof vest. Heck you couldn't even make the female Enforcer on the login screen because female character don't get the goggles around the neck. Would it be that hard for female characters to be able to wear male clothes (heck make the reverse possible so at least we can all have our eyes burned by a guy in the sparkly dress).

This game is a lot of fun... but I consistently find myself wondering why instances aren't divided up by Rating. It's like I can get a jump on these guys, get a few hits in, then they turn around and kill me with a couple shots of their N-Tec. It's absolutely demoralizing every time this happens, and it happens a lot.
As for new players: cut us some slack. We're not only learning the gameplay and maps but are put at a big disadvantage as all of our equipment is inferior in every way to your own. If you want to blame anyone for those losses, blame the developer for not implementing a tier-based matchmaking system in Our Lords Year of 2010.

Every time that happened in Beta they were pretty quick about getting your characters back, I think I was locked out of a character for a maximum of a weekend. Unfortunately, they tended to it person by person (or so it seemed when devs asked which character name was locked out and then told me to try again when I was on my alt and I could miraculously log back in). With increased populations it might take longer but I'm sure RTW will be quick to fix that, so I wouldn't worry too much! [tiny]pfffhahahaha[/tiny]

Just the amount of flaws I seen so far:

    1) the beanbag shotgun is completely retarded Or any stuns to be honest. Giving one side something that the other side doesn't have isn't fair. And if they want to make the point that they are trying to get a "real world" feel to the game, then it should follow real world Criminal Escalation, cops usually match the force used by criminals, then criminals take it a step more. In this game it is the other way around.
    2) Cops are invincible while arresting, Wasting an entire clip in a cop with nothing to show for it, then getting instantly stunned because I'm reloading is complete bs.
    3) Cops have wallhack powers during 75% of their missions, they need to adjust this so the markers on the criminals are hidden when they are within 50m of the criminals in the area. That would balance it out A LOT.
    4) Sonork and a number of players can't play and haven't been able to play their mains for days now because RTW hasn't jumped into action.

I can't stand games that are lopsided or unbalanced for one side. I been told just to play a Cop but I want to play a game and win because I'm good, not because I have better and easier gameplay. Let's not forget that we can get infinite money making cash worthless.

Granted theses are all things that can be fixed with a patch. But there hasn't been a post by any devs about any of theses problems yet.

    1. It's more of a slowly firing assault rifle, but yes, it's crap. Still, any normal gun would've killed you in the same amount of time.
    2. FAAAAAAR from invincible. I promise you.
    3. True. Those are the missions where all the crims have to do is run and not get caught.
    4. A 5 minute trip into the Social Districts will show you the amount of GM/any kind of support this game has. All the gold spammers running rampant and claims of unaddressed tickets prove that.

I'm soooo not trying to convince you to stay, I promise. I'm still on the fence about whether I'll stick it out after my 50 hours are up, as well. I guess I'm just not sure about the long term prospects of the game once everyone has their optimal weapons and upgrades. I have enough RTW points for a month, so even if I don't use it next month, I can always come back.

I seriously do not understand the hate for LTL. It's a harder thing for Enforcers to do. If you're upset because you're getting stunned or something, realize that A) The LTL weapons have shit for accuracy, so the fact that you got stunned means the Enforcer got lucky, and B) If he'd been using lethal weaponry, you'd probably already be dead. The beanbag shotgun in particular requires 5 hits to stun, and literally cannot hit a stationary target at a range beyond about 20m. Like, I've tried it on teammates, while crouching for +accuracy.
    2) Cops are invincible while arresting

Apparently I did not get this memo, because I'm plenty easy to kill while arresting. In fact, it makes me a huge sitting target, because I often get stuck in the animation when a criminal's teammate rounds the corner and starts unloading into my face.
    3) Cops have wallhack powers during 75% of their missions

75% is a huge overstatement. The only particular situation I can think of where the Cops have markers for Criminals that they wouldn't otherwise (i.e. VIP markers) is the occasional bounty mission where we have takedowns and no objective to cover.

Also, the criminals get the fastest cars out the gates. Without a HUD marker, you guys'd be gone 100% of the time.

Just wanted to address some things here in your post.

The beanbag shotgun is weaker then normal shotguns. Doubly so once you get the ability to unlock fully automatic shotguns, which are death incarnate at close range, as they have no refire timer. Also, don't rush people and you'll be fine. All shotguns are only effective at close range. And the only time you have to fight at close range is at the immediate beginning of the game. I got a better gun an hour in and I never had to fight at close range (Unless I was in a building.) again.

Cops aren't invincible when arresting. I've seen Enforcers in the middle of arrests get shot to death before. I've been in the middle of being arrested, and had someone shoot cops off of my back, in fact.

I've...Never heard of a wallhack existing, or seen it even. You sure they just aren't really good at platforming? Alot of areas that look inaccessible ingame can be reached through some clever climbing and jumping. Aimbots apparently exist, but they're rare. On the issue of visibility, both sides get markers to objectives. And what's more, a good driver can outrun and out maneuver most players, even in a civilian car.

The people stuck offline are in a shit position, but I highly doubt they'll be stuck like that forever.

The last mission I was on, it was a 6v6 game, all the cops had the beanbag shotty and they were getting 5-8 arrest streaks because it only takes 1-2 solid hits to take down any player within 1m-20m range. I never been arrested more than once in any fight, that game I was arrested 7 times in a row. Though what do I know? I've just had to deal with this over and over, while you guys are the ones that can do so and don't have to handle it.

Any enforcer who goes and makes poor LTL choices is at a disadvantage (full LTL, the beanbag gun and dart gun really aren't that great). The LTL shotgun is actually really goddamned amazing and can stun in two hits from assault rifle range. Anyone who says otherwise probably hasn't encountered it because it actually takes a lot of work for someone to get to the required Cop rank to unlock it (though once he does he can buy some for all his friends if I remember correctly). If you take a lethal main weapon, the stabba PIG is one of the finest sidearms. When I ran enf, the PIG was fucking amazing because I could take out a couple dudes and if someone (say with a shotgun) jumped me while I was reloading I could instantly stun him and move on with my day. Stun grenades are amazing. And it appears to be the exact same game from beta replete with the same game stopping bugs.

It is fuckin' hilarious for you people to consistently overlook problems and then go so far as to call the person who has encountered these issues poor at the game. I didn't think you silly geese could go so far, but it is funnnnn-y.

Ok, let me explain how people who use the LTL "properly" make the game unfun, maybe you guys will learn something.

The way theses players use the LTL is try travel in pairs. They will never start a firefight unless they are in a building or have some cover/corner to hide behind or they only attack when they have a ride to quickly jump out and stun any criminal they see. If all it takes is one shot from two people each to take out any criminal no matter what weapon they have, there is no way to counter that besides running away, getting a sniper rifle/obeya/Obir and trying to peg them from afar.

The stungun pistol is completely fine with me, it it balanced in my opinion. It has two shots and a long reload time, but you can instantly take down anyone that gets hit by it. But having a semiauto shotgun that can work so effectively and outgun an OCA is retarded.
