Hey I saw this movie also, so now I can contribute to this thread.
I liked how there were pets in every scene, as though people are using them to make up for the loss of the children, but they never explicitly tell you that. It's just left up to the viewer to piece that together.
It's nice to see a movie that doesn't treat its audience like some slackwit lowest common denominator for once.
