But if we operate in the real world, where all combat is dangerous and grenades work, I agree with Dr. Avalanche. Except the gas grenades are clearly the less dangerous and more expedient route.

I think the issue with the thorian grenades was that nobody knew if they would actually work or not. The scientist lady said it could possibly work, but there was a good chance it wouldn't.

Theoretically it would work though, since she said it effects the weakened neural systems- which the colonists were considered to have due to the Thorian wearing them down. And why they wouldn't work on say Shepard or his crew.

So I defeat Benezia, go to the Hot Labs, and the Mira VI tells me that Benezia is still alive. Wha ?

Its funny I never thought about this. Has anyone thought about what Joker, Pressly, and the rest of the crew are up to while you do the major planets? They are all just stuck hanging around the ship...must get boring

So i just tried to start my first play through with a soldier, since everyone has told me that best (ignoring the fact i tried to start a few months back, I forgot everything), and I just keep repeatedly dying while trying to use the assault rifle, even with better armor.

Fuck that, I think i'm going to try an engineer and just be really fucking good with the pistol

    PC.

Also, the Russian dude that gets gutted by a rachni, before he died, I chose an option, "To hell with this," or some such, and Shep says something like, "Whatever, just tell me where Benezia is and how I purge this place."

And then the Mira VI, I chose crew, and she says, "No living bodies except for Benezia."

Nope, that bitch is ashes. I guess you can get to the Hot Labs before fighting Benezia, and it seemed that there wasn't different dialogue. Kind of weird, especially since I imagine most people hit the Hot Labs on the way out.

I never had that problem but I played on 360.

I think the assumption the game makes is you went one of two routes.

    1) You went to help out the Doctor and made a cure for those who are sick and he gave you his keycard to get in through Maitenance. Where you go to fight Benezia then go to the HotLabs.

    2) You are told by the Guard Leader that Benezia is in Hot Labs. You go to Hot Labs to find she isn't there- initiate the purge. And then go back to unleash havoc and get Benezia.

Meh...really you can't go wrong with any class in ME1(except Soldiers cause they are boring), though I would say Infiltrators are the better of the two. Just out of personal opinion, however. But I feel they have the better combo of skills.

Yeah, go with whatever character you enjoy the most.

In RPG's i always go for a paladin style character when possible, or mould my character to fit the archetype. So for my Shepard, I created a Solider with good charm, healing skills and to be an absolute tank in battle. That meant that my party could focus on biotics and tech whilst i kept them alive. And of course I tried to talk my way out of all violent situations because i'm nice like that. Failing that, some short controlled bursts from my assault rifle.

basically this. Alternatively because you don't feel like letting them fire at you while you try and ration your grenades so that you'll have enough

so, I have a question about the squadmember achievements. I'm playing through the game just to get the shepard I plan to take forward up to 60, and I figured I'd pick up a couple of the ones I hadn't gotten. On top of the main story, how much stuff should I expect to have to do? I'm using ashley and garrus, and have been since they became available.

My first play through was with an Infiltrator, and I loved it. Really, just pick what suits your style. When I went infiltrator I sniped while 2 of my guys ran ahead with shot guns and levitated people in the air for me to kill. AN upside down head shot is very rewarding. :)

I;m playing thru as an adept right now and enjoying it. Usually with these type of games, i play soldier classes. I tried an engineer and never finished it but after this I plan to start one up just for the achievements. By that time, ME2 should be out.

Infiltrator's fucking rock. My first or second Shepard was a Renegade Infiltrator, and I had a blast. Throw in some explosive rounds and a scram rail or two, and goodnight enemies, because now you have a rocket launcher. Then I always kept a good pistol nearby with some snowblind rounds and another scram rail (I dunno about you guys but by the end I am up to my arse in scram rails and snowblind rounds).

Something interesting I pulled off the SA forums about the Cerberus card:
Cerberus Network is an in game service available when you register with an EA account. Once enrolled you will have access to exclusive in game content and updates via an in game feed. An exclusive character will be available from day one and shortly followed by new weapons, worlds, etc.

Further digging shows that these cards are apparently going to be in all copies of ME2. Source

So far we have the Terminus Systems armour and gun, the Dragon Age: Origins armour, the Collector's Edition bonus content disc, and now the Limited Edition Cerberus card?

Imagine how much money they could make with a "Collect every single piece of armour in the game" achievement. It already feels bloated with bonus content and the game isn't even out yet!

It's kind of a turn off for me, to be honest. It's not going to stop me from getting the game, but what was so wrong with there just being a regular version of a game, and the deluxe version of a game?

    • Inferno Armor (Amazon/Best Buy)
    • Cerberus Card Content (All versions)
    • Dragon Age Armor (Dragon Age)

I think you mean Vanguard? Adepts only get pistols I think.

The beginning of the game is tough against rocket launchers. It's easy to get one shotted by them and not know what's going on. Try and focus on them first, and you might have to savewhore to get past them.

Once you get better armor (you can get up to medium as a vanguard) and some nice shield mods, and barrier, they become much easier.

Also use cover. I have a lot of trouble believing you people are having so much difficulty with rockets. Just say glued to cover and primary anyone who tries to charge you. Tell your squad mates to stay far away so they don't attract rockets to hit near you though.

You should be saving up your biotics for when guys move in. Someone comes at your cover, hit 'em with lift or throw. Just don't use your biotics till they try and get up close.
